Chapter 204 - Chapter 204: Unremarkable Knowledge

[3rd POV]

While Wanda's clones were off having their fun, the real Wanda was back in the store, bored out of her mind. She had been reading through some of the literature from the Star Trek universe, and had found it to be largely...

Unremarkable.

Wanda had originally been expecting a lot more out of a version as incredible and expansive as the one that was found inside of the Star Trek universe. But it turns out that the Star Trek's Earth was severely lacking when it came to media, and fictional works in general.

Comics? Lacking. Manga? Lacking. All of the areas that are similar or at all related to them were severely lacking, and were missing mass amounts that she knew and loved. Mostly because in that world, the literature had been lost thanks to the various wars that had happened in that time period.

Scientifically speaking their planet was somewhat impressive, mostly because of how fast they had been developing. That and they were one of the few species that she had run into so far that did not actually need or require money and currency in general.

They had long since gotten rid of the need for something like money and currency. Instead they went off work based marit. The better your work, the more you work, and the better your accomplishments, the better the life you tend to live.

It was very interesting to read about. Even if she found that the day to day life for most normal people had to be dreadfully boring, not to mention unfulfilling. It was only if you involved yourself in the United Federation of Planets and Starfleet was when things got really interesting.

But actually joining Starfleet was NOT easy, and took years upon years of work in order to get to that level. Even more than a decade in many cases, mattering on what area you worked in, and why. The amount of years of service required in order to get into the higher positions within Starfleet was...daunting.

But it made sense.

Wanda personally didn't find that sort of thing appealing, but she supposed it was a natural evolution of their form of Earth. In the Earth of her past life, that was never going to happen. Money, currency, and the economy itself was far too engrained into the very essence of humanity for it to just disappear one day.

It was too important to the existence of humanity to get rid of it all together. And sure, it might evolve and change in some form, it will not be able to just completely and utterly disappear entirely.

Wanda found that besides the science sections and literature, their knowledge in weaponry and war was...lacking to say the least.

This was before the Borg came around and stuff like that, so it made sense. But Starfleet as a whole was quite weak in a lot of ways, and severely lacking when it came to militaristic might. Militaristic might that was absolutely necessary for the foes that will only continue to come their way over the next decades.

Really it didn't make sense to her that they never even thought about developing a true military, even if it was a strictly controlled and rarely deployed one. There was some small "Splinter Cells" inside of the Starfleet that was sort of pseudo-militaries, but none of them were the true thing.

If humanity had ever pushed itself and truly developed a military, they would likely rapidly surpass the other factions inside the galaxy. At the very least she knew that they would surpass the Romulans, and likely even get close to the Borg and such.

Whether or not they would surpass them was a different thing entirely.

She did have to admit that their replicator tech was truly impressive and had many uses that she knew would be utilized extensively in a number of other universes once their customers began to come into the shop. While their warp drives would probably remain largely unused by most sci fi groups that come in, as they were...well, kind of dog shit to be frank.

Star Wars made them look like jokes. That and due to the resources needed to build one, it was unlikely that most universes and their groups would even be able to create them in the first place.

A universe like Mass Effect or Warhammer 40k would find great use in them, granted they don't decide to get one of the vastly superior versions that she has schematics on. Most of those ones hailed from the DC universe or the Dragon Ball universe.

Wanda was pretty confident that both of them would be worse than what Star Wars had to offer. And obviously they were inferior to whatever Doctor Who had to offer, but she had yet to get books on that particular area of technology from that multiverse.

She planned on bringing it up the Doctor sooner or later, at least, probably. She wondered if the man would even have the books on it, but she imagined he did, as his Tardis had books on...well, pretty much everything inside of its library.

At the very least she knew that the Tardis had thousands of Gallifreyan books that could not be found anywhere but there. There were also thousands of immensely rare books that were hardly found anywhere else. And there were even books that the Doctor himself had written over the years.

It was the last one that Wanda was really interested in reading. She would love to see what sort of writing style he has, and what he has written about. She imagined it was mostly history and stories about his thousands of years worth of traveling. And the thousands of planets that he has been to.

Either way, the knowledge that the Starfleet had was lacking in a lot of areas, but also a little impressive in very few others. She decided that she would need to put out the books sooner or later, but restrict some of them due to their rather dangerous nature.

She'd rather not have Lex get warp drives just yet. As she was pretty confident that the man would truly be able to build them with his current tech, and that would be rather problematic for a number of reasons.

She didn't like interfering or stopping that sort of thing, but even she had limits. And she did not want to have to go into their world and deal with someone like Darkseid invading because Lex broke an unknown rule that Vandal and Darkseid had.

While she was reading through the books that she had gotten from the crew, Wanda heard the door to her shop open, and in walked the one and only...

Batman.

"Hmm? I was wondering when one of you would come back. Are you all finally starting to build up some courage and shop here properly?" Wanda asked, staring at the Batman with amusement in her eyes as he let out a grunt at her words.

To be honest she could not blame them for that, as she was immensely powerful, and probably the most dangerous entity that they had ever come across, and likely the most they would ever come across. Only ones that would be close is of course Lucifer, his brothers, and Perpetua.

She hadn't seen entity, but she was pretty confident that Lucifer was stronger. She wasn't sure about Gabriel and Michael, as she was also pretty confident that those two were weaker than Lucifer, albeit not by an insane amount.

Just enough for them to lose to Lucifer if they ever fought.

Not that they would, as that would almost certainly end the entire multiverse in the coming clash.

"I'm here for books on protecting the mind from mental intrusions. Ones that can be learned by anyone, regardless of species, or if they have magic. Do you have anything like that?" Wanda raised an eyebrow at the question, before snapping her finger.

Occlumency floated forwards.

"A book exactly like what you want. The better you train it, the better your protection. It'll also increase your memorization, comprehension, and learning speeds. Finally it will help those with psionic power increase their control over that power" Wanda explained, as the man looked at the book.

"I'll take 20 of those" Batman said, as Wanda snapped her finger and 19 more appeared, all of them landing inside of a bag as the Bat brought out five one hundred dollar bills.

"If I'm over paying use the rest on muffins" Batman added, as she chuckled, as a small row of muffins floated into the bag too.

Batman seemed to have smelled her freshly baked muffins and wanted them.

Valid.

With the payment done with, Batman soon left, leaving Wanda alone with her thoughts.

And at that moment, after he had left, she had only one thought on her mind.

'I wonder when Death's siblings will come here?'
