Chapter 595: Black and White Arc!

~Third POV~

[Kanto Region, Next Day, Pallet Town – Oak's Lab]

The early morning sun, still low and golden, painted the familiar landscape of Professor Oak's lab with a gentle, hopeful glow. Today was not just any day; it was the dawn of a new adventure for Azure, a journey that hummed with the promise of fresh challenges and untamed excitement. At 18, Azure had already etched his name into the annals of Pokémon history, conquering four Pokémon League Tournaments and the formidable Battle Frontiers of Hoenn and Sinnoh.

He had even stood as humanity's shield, saving the planet from the catastrophic Grand Meteor Delta. Now, the vibrant Unova region beckoned, and Azure was more than ready. His backpack, a familiar weight on his shoulders, felt lighter than usual, infused with the buoyant energy of anticipation. Inside, meticulously organized, were enough supplies for what he confidently expected to be his fifth victory.

He wore his customary trainer outfit – a comfortable jacket, practical jeans, and sturdy boots – a uniform forged from countless battles and endless roads. Perched on his shoulder, Pikachu, his oldest and most steadfast partner, twitched an ear, its small body radiating crackling energy.

Eevee, a fluffy brown adornment, sat comfortably on his head, occasionally nudging his hair with a soft purr. Tucked securely within his jacket, a tiny Pichu (Mew) in a playful disguise, emitted a soft, contented hum.

Professor Oak chuckled, his eyes twinkling with paternal pride as he surveyed the young trainer, "Well, Azure, it seems you're truly ready to conquer Unova."

The scent of fresh coffee mingled with the earthy aroma of the lab's garden. Crystal, the Johto Dex Holder, a fierce trainer in her own right and Prof. Oak's apprentice, offered a warm, competitive smile, saying in a cheerful tone, "Don't forget us, Azure. We'll be watching. Make sure to bring back some amazing stories and perhaps a few new strategies for us to try!"

She shifted her weight, a subtle movement that spoke of her own boundless energy. Daisy Oak, ever the gracious host, handed Azure a thermos and said politely, "Here, dear, a fresh batch of my special berry tea. For the journey. And please, do be careful. We heard Unova has some truly unique Pokémon, but also unique challenges."

Her concern was genuine, a testament to the family he had built here. Azure flashed them his signature smirk, a blend of confidence and boyish charm, replying confidently, "You know me, Professor, Crystal, Daisy. 'Careful' is my middle name… right after 'unpredictable' and 'victorious'."

His gaze held an infectious glint, adding casually, "But seriously, thank you all. Your support means the world."

He took a slow sip of the berry tea, the warmth a comforting contrast to the cool morning air. Pikachu chirped, giving a thumbs-up, "Pika-Pika!"

Eevee added, nuzzling Azure's ear, "Eevee!"

The Pichu in his jacket gave a tiny, almost imperceptible mew, "Me—Chu!"

A low growl rumbled from Azure's shadow, and Gengar shimmered into partial visibility. She had a mischievous grin on her face. Her voice, a resonant, purring whisper, echoed slightly in the quiet morning, "Don't worry, old man, we'll make sure he doesn't get into too much trouble. Just the fun kind."

From within the Arc Phone clipped to Azure's belt, a metallic whirring sound emerged, and Rotom's electrical voice buzzed, "Reporting for duty! Unova data banks, ready for download! Bzzzt!"

Porygon-Z, also residing within the Arc Phone, remained silent, but its digital presence was felt, a quiet calculation of possibilities. Azure patted his jacket, acknowledging his more spectral companions as he said cheekily, "You heard them. I'm in good hands."

He then reached for a Poké Ball from his belt, a subtle click preceding its release. With an eager grin, there was a blinding flash of white light that erupted, followed by a majestic cry that sliced through the morning air.

"BRAAAAVIAAAARY!"

Alpha Braviary, a magnificent raptor with powerful wings and piercing eyes, manifested before them. Its feathers, a striking blend of white, blue, and crimson, seemed to shimmer in the sunlight. The sheer presence of the Alpha Pokémon was awe-inspiring.

Azure said, his voice laced with affection as he stroked Braviary's head, "Alright, big guy. Unova awaits. Show them what an Alpha can do."

He expertly mounted the great bird, settling into the comfortable saddle he'd had custom-made. Pikachu scrambled to find a secure spot on his shoulder, Eevee tucked herself into the crook of his neck, and Pichu (Mew) remained snug in his jacket.

Prof. Oak, Crystal, and Daisy waved vigorously, their smiles wide. Professor Oak called out, "Good luck, Azure!"

Daisy added, "Fly safe!"

Crystal's competitive spirit shone through, "Conquer it!"

Azure returned their waves, a genuine smile replacing his smirk, and replied, "You too! Have a good day!"

With a powerful downstroke, Braviary's massive wings beat against the air, creating a gust that rustled the leaves of nearby trees and sent a flurry of dust scattering!

*WHOOSH*

*WHOOSH*

*WHOOSH*

The ground receded beneath them rapidly. Azure felt an exhilarating jolt as they launched skyward, the world shrinking into a patchwork quilt of green fields, winding rivers, and distant towns.

From the depths of Azure's jacket, Zoura, his mischievous fox Pokémon, phased into existence, its dark fur a stark contrast to the bright sky. Its red eyes sparkled with excitement, and its small tail wagged furiously.

He tilted his head, looking up at Azure. Zoura's telepathic voice, a playful whisper directly in Azure's mind, was always a welcome companion, 'This is it, master! New lands! New tricks to learn! Unova, here we come!'

Azure simply grinned, the wind whipping through his hair. He could feel the vibrant hum of Braviary's powerful flight, the steadfast presence of his partners, and the tingling anticipation of the journey ahead.

The Unova Region.

A new region, new challenges, new Pokémon, and a fresh opportunity to prove himself once more. Every fiber of his being vibrated with excitement. The sky was clear, the path was set, and the adventure had truly begun.

[Unova Region, Meanwhile, Nuvema Town – Juniper's Lab]

Meanwhile, on the bustling peninsula of Unova, nestled amidst soaring skyscrapers and a vibrant city life, Castelia City hummed with its own unique rhythm. The air, thick with the scent of street food, exhaust fumes, and blooming flowers, was a symphony of car horns, distant sirens, and the excited chatter of people and Pokémon.

Elsewhere in the start of something big, Nuvema Town in the heart of this town sprawl, within a lab that married cutting-edge technology with warm, natural aesthetics, Professor Aurea Juniper was a whirlwind of activity. Her lab, spacious and brightly lit, was a testament to her dedication. Walls were adorned with intricate diagrams of Pokémon habitats, shelves overflowed with research journals, and various scientific instruments glinted under the fluorescent lights.

Currently, Juniper, a woman with warm eyes and a perpetually curious expression, was pacing, a sleek mobile phone pressed to her ear.

She spoke into the receiver, her voice a blend of patience and professional concern, "Yes, yes, I understand, Father. It's a crucial matter to ensure they begin their journeys on the right footing. These Starter Pokémon are more than just battle partners; they are companions, friends, families even."

She paused, listening intently before adding, "Indeed. I believe the new trainers arriving tomorrow are ready for the responsibility. Nuvema Town will be a perfect first stop for them. I've thoroughly vetted their applications."

A soft sigh escaped her lips, a tiny ripple of worry crossing her features, muttering to herself, "Though sometimes I wonder if the Pokémon themselves are truly ready for them. Alright, Dad. I'll keep you updated. No worries, I'll greet Azure Sky and give him a Pokedex like Oak says. And please, take care of yourself."

*CLICK*

The call ended. Professor Juniper slipped her phone into the pocket of her lab coat, her attention now shifting to the three Poké Balls resting on a plush, red cushion on her desk. These were no ordinary Poké Balls; they pulsed faintly with the contained life of the region's newest hopefuls.

She murmured, a gentle smile gracing her lips, "Alright, you three… Time to rest up for your big day tomorrow."

She carefully picked up the Poké Balls: one red and white, one blue and white, and one green and white. With practiced ease, she returned Tepig, Oshawott, and Snivy to their respective capsules, placing them gently into a beautifully wrapped gift box, adorned with a large, silken bow.

These weren't just Pokémon; they were dreams, aspirations, and the promise of a new generation of trainers. Just as she was about to settle down for a well-deserved dinner, a new call chimed, soft and insistent.

*CHIME*

It was Fennel, her friend and fellow researcher, a specialist in Dream Mist. Juniper picked up again, answering in a friendly tone, "Hello, Fennel! How's the Dream Mist research coming along?"

Unbeknownst to Juniper, however, a tiny, determined Pokémon had already set its sights on her dinner. Just moments before she had returned them to their Poké Balls, Tepig, still free, had caught a whiff of something irresistible.

The aroma of roasted berries, fresh vegetables, and savory stew wafted from the dinner plate she had set out on a small, sturdy table in the corner of the lab. Its small snout twitched, its stomach rumbling audibly.

*SNIFF—SNIFF*

*GRUMBLE*

Tepig's eyes, usually docile, now gleamed with mischievous hunger. The plate, laden with a delicious-looking meal, was just there. With a surprising burst of agility, the Fire Pig Pokémon launched itself.

*BOING*

It somersaulted cleanly over the edge of the table, a blur of red and black. Its head collided with the underside of the plate, sending it flying upwards…

*CLATTER*

The plate soared into the air, its contents momentarily suspended against gravity.

Tepig, quick as a flash, saw its opportunity. It inhaled deeply, then unleashed a tiny, controlled burst of flame.

*FWOOSH*

A single Ember struck a plump, juicy berry, cooking it to a perfect crisp in mid-air. With an expert bite, Tepig snatched the berry, landing neatly back on the floor, chewing happily, "Tepig! Teg-teg!"

But its victory was short-lived. As Tepig munched, bits of the berry, some still faintly smoking, flew from its mouth.

*SPLAT*

A piece landed directly on the sleek, green body of Snivy, who had been observing the whole audacious act from a corner of the lab, a look of refined disdain on its face. The Grass Snake Pokémon hissed, recoiling as if scalded, "Snivy!"

It glared at Tepig, its slitted eyes narrowing. With a flick of its tail, it swiped the offending berry bit away.

Tepig, oblivious in its culinary rapture, let out another satisfied chew. More berry bits flew, this time landing squarely on Snivy's face.

*SPLAT*

This was the last straw. Snivy shrieked, its elegant composure utterly shattered, "SNI-VY! (Oh, it's on bacon!)."

*THUD*

It lunged, a flash of green fury, aiming a quick, sharp tackle at Tepig. Tepig, startled but enjoying the unexpected roughhousing, met the attack head-on, returning a playful headbutt. The two Pokémon tumbled, a blur of red, black, and green.

Oshawott, the Sea Otter Pokémon, had been observing the chaos from a safe distance, a look of growing exasperation on its face. It valued order and calm. Seeing its two future companions devolve into a food fight was simply unacceptable.

It pleaded, taking a step forward, hoping to mediate, "Osha… wott? (Come on, guys, there's no need to fight—)."

*WHOOSH-THUMP*

But its plea went unheard. As Snivy and Tepig grappled, Tepig let out a powerful roll. Oshawott, caught in the crossfire, barely had time to react before it was sent careening backward, slamming unceremoniously into a large, metal filing cabinet.

*CLANG*

The impact and the indignity were too much. Oshawott cried out, "OSHAWOTT! (… I see you've chosen death. Let me assist…)."

Oshawott's usually placid expression contorted into a furious snarl. Its two future partners immediately noticed the sudden, furious glint in Oshawott's eyes. They paused their squabble, suddenly very still.

*SWISH-SWISH-SWISH*

With a roar of pure anger, Oshawott snatched the scalchop from its belly. It began to spin and slash with astonishing speed, a flurry of precise, angry attacks, "OSHAWOTT! OS-SHAW! WOTT! (TAKE THIS! AND THAT! AND SOME OF THESE!)"

*CLANG—WHOOSH—THWACK*

Tepig and Snivy, now united in their fear of the enraged otter, scrambled to dodge and block the scalchop's relentless assault. The lab became a blur of frantic motion, the sound of dodging Pokémon punctuated by the sharp clink of Oshawott's scalchop against the floor and, occasionally, against furniture.

*CRACK*

During one particularly wild flurry of attacks, Oshawott's scalchop, wielded with surprising force, connected with a sharp crack against one of the slender, wooden legs of the very table where Professor Juniper's dinner had been. The table, previously sturdy, now leans precariously to one side. On its wobbly surface, a delicate glass jug of water and a matching drinking glass teetered precariously, then began to slide.

*CLINK-CLACK-WHOOSH*

The jug launched into the air, spinning wildly, inevitably heading straight for the three battling Pokémon. Just then, Professor Juniper, still on the phone with Fennel, paused mid-sentence. She said, her brow furrowing, "...the Dream Mist certainly holds promise for emotional regulation, yes… Hold on, Fennel…"

*THUDS-CLANGS-CRACKS*

A cacophony of THUDS, CLANGS, and CRACKS had reached her ears from the main lab area. It sounded distinctly like… chaos.

She quickly excused herself, her professional demeanor slowly giving way to a developing sense of dread, "I think I need to investigate a disturbance."

She rushed into the main lab, her eyes widening in disbelief. The scene was pure pandemonium. Papers were scattered, a chair had toppled over, and the table where she had planned to eat her dinner lay on its side, one leg splintered. The jug, having narrowly missed the battling trio, had instead shattered against a pristine, white wall, leaving a dark, spreading stain.

*CRASH*

Juniper breathed, her voice a mixture of exasperation and disbelief, "Oh, dear Arceus… what happened!!"

The three Pokémon, frozen in their tracks by her sudden appearance, looked like guilty children caught with their hands in the cookie jar. Snivy tried to look innocent, Tepig merely gazed up at her with wide, apologetic eyes, and Oshawott, scalchop still in hand, quickly tried to hide it behind its back.

Then, a new development. Tepig, perhaps from the exertion of its earlier rampage, let out a tiny, stifled sneeze.

*CHOO*

But instead of a droplet of moisture, a puff of gray smoke, smelling faintly of charcoal, issued from its snout. Juniper sighed, her concern for the Pokémon overriding her frustration, "Tepig? Oh, my word, you've caught a cold, haven't you? Sneezing smoke instead of fireballs… that's certainly a unique symptom."

With another weary sigh, she gently but firmly scooped up each of the Pokémon. One by one, they were returned to their Poké Balls, the familiar click echoing in the now eerily quiet lab. She then placed them back into the gift box, securing the lid. Surveying the mess, Juniper's shoulders slumped. She began the tedious process of cleaning, picking up scattered items, righting furniture, and wiping down the water-stained wall.

As she worked, a thoughtful, almost worried expression settled on her face. She murmured to herself, her voice barely a whisper amidst the rustle of cleaning cloths, "Are they truly ready? Ready to form those crucial friendships, to trust, to grow with their new trainers? Or will their journeys begin with more… incidents like this?"

The question hung heavy in the air, a silent testament to the unpredictable nature of young Pokémon and the profound responsibility of becoming a Pokémon trainer.
