Chapter 135 - Fall: Anger as Guidance

This is a strong direction because it attacks Sonia's deepest fear. Unlike Osei, whose horror is guilt, Sonia's horror is "What if the monster everyone said I was... is actually me?"

Here's a polished continuation:

The labyrinth breathed.

Not with lungs.

With memory.

Every corridor stretched endlessly, walls rippling like bruised flesh beneath peeling wallpaper. Doors lined both sides of the hallway, each one humming with forgotten moments. Sonia's footsteps echoed into the darkness, only to be swallowed whole.

"Yyvone?.. Charles?... Kennedy?"

Nothing.

Not even an echo.

Her voice simply...

...disappeared.

She forced herself to inhale.

Her orange aura shimmered faintly around her body.

Anxiety.

She hated that color.

She could feel it pulsing around her shoulders like a warning only she could see.

"Stay calm..."

"You've handled worse..."

One careful step.

Then another.

She kept looking over her shoulder every few seconds, unable to shake the feeling that someone was following her.

Or...

something.

Then—

Thud.

Her back collided with a wooden door.

Sonia froze.

Slowly...

she turned the handle.

It wasn't locked.

The room beyond looked painfully familiar.

Her living room.

The old couch.

The broken picture frame.

The cracked television.

Even the mug she threw during one of their arguments lay shattered on the floor exactly where she remembered.

Her breathing became uneven.

"...No..."

Standing in the middle of the room...

was herself.

Only...

different.

Blood dripped lazily from the knife in her hand.

Across the room lay her boyfriend.

Motionless.

A spreading crimson pool surrounded his body.

His eyes stared at nothing.

Dead.

This time...

she hadn't stopped.

This Sonia had gone through with it.

The blood-covered version slowly turned toward the real Sonia.

Her smile was terrifyingly calm.

"So..."

she whispered.

"This is how it's done."

She lifted the knife slightly.

"You wanted him gone."

"He hurt us."

"He lied."

"He manipulated us."

"He laughed while we cried."

"So..."

her grin widened,

"I finished the job."

Silence.

The real Sonia instinctively stepped toward the body.

"No..."

She reached out...

as if she could somehow undo it.

As if touching him would rewind time.

Too late.

The corpse remained cold.

Her other self laughed softly.

"You always hesitate."

"You always cry."

"You always hope people change."

Her eyes narrowed.

"What has that ever gotten you?"

She pointed the knife directly at Sonia.

"You call yourself kind."

"I call you pathetic."

"You think restraint makes you stronger?"

"No."

"It makes you prey."

The orange aura around Sonia flickered violently.

Her heartbeat accelerated.

She remembered...

The hospital.

The accusations.

The whispers.

"She tried to kill him."

"She's dangerous."

"She's unstable."

"She's insane."

Those words never truly left.

The bloody Sonia took another step.

"This world belongs to people willing to act."

"You?"

"You apologize for existing."

Another step.

"You wanted revenge."

"I simply had the courage."

Sonia closed her eyes.

For just a second.

Then...

she exhaled.

A long...

steady breath.

When she opened them again...

there were tears.

But no fear.

She slowly shook her head.

"No."

The bloody version frowned.

"No?"

Sonia looked directly into her own eyes.

"You killed him."

"That was your choice."

"Not mine."

Silence.

"You aren't my future."

"You aren't my hidden desire."

"You're my anger..."

"...without compassion."

"And that's why you aren't me."

For the first time...

the blood-covered Sonia's smile faltered.

"...Really?"

Sonia nodded.

"I wanted him to stop hurting me."

"I wanted justice."

"I wanted someone to listen."

Her voice trembled...

but never broke.

"I never wanted murder."

The bloody Sonia suddenly screamed.

"Liar!"

The house shook.

Windows exploded.

Blood climbed the walls like living vines.

"You imagined it!"

"You wished for it!"

"You hated him!"

Sonia didn't deny it.

"I did."

"I hated him."

"I hated what he turned me into."

"I hated how powerless I felt."

She took one step forward.

"But hatred isn't permission."

"I don't become free by becoming what hurt me."

The orange aura surrounding her slowly changed.

It wasn't disappearing.

It was...

stabilizing.

Her emotions no longer fought one another.

Fear.

Grief.

Anger.

Compassion.

All of them remained.

None of them ruled.

The bloody Sonia stared in confusion.

"...Why aren't you rejecting your anger?"

Sonia smiled sadly.

"Because it's mine."

"I don't have to obey it..."

"...to acknowledge it."

The room became silent.

The corpse...

began dissolving.

The blood...

evaporated.

The walls cracked.

The illusion was failing.

The bloody Sonia looked down at herself.

"...Then..."

"...you suffer."

Her voice became distorted.

Almost...

inhuman.

The smile stretched impossibly wide.

"So be it."

The knife dissolved into black mist.

Her skin split open.

Cracks spread across her body like shattered porcelain.

Dark hands erupted from inside her chest.

Her face peeled backward...

revealing something else entirely.

Not Sonia.

Never Sonia.

A Ghoul.

Its voice layered into dozens at once.

"We almost had you..."

The labyrinth trembled.

Every nearby door burst open simultaneously.

Dozens of voices whispered from the darkness.

"You're dangerous..."

"You're unstable..."

"You're broken..."

"You'll always lose control..."

Sonia's orange aura flared once more.

She clenched her fists.

"I've heard those lies before."

Her eyes hardened.

"And this time..."

she took a fighting stance,

"...I'm answering back."

This fits Sonia well because it demonstrates her core lesson: she doesn't suppress anger anymore, and she doesn't let anger command her either. She uses it deliberately.

The Ghoul moved first.

Its body unraveled into a storm of writhing black tendrils, every limb stretching across the warped hallway as though space itself had forgotten what distance meant. The walls screamed. Doors burst open one after another, revealing countless distorted memories before slamming shut again.

Its grin widened.

"Still pretending you're in control?"

The creature lunged.

The corridor vanished beneath a tidal wave of sharpened tentacles.

Sonia didn't retreat.

Her eyes narrowed.

A deep crimson light ignited around her fists, bleeding into the familiar white-gold glow of Avia. It wasn't corruption.

It wasn't blind rage.

It was anger...

accepted.

Not buried.

Not denied.

Not worshipped.

Simply acknowledged.

"I told you already..."

Her voice remained steady despite the storm around her.

"I'm done running from how I feel."

She planted one foot forward.

The red aura surged violently around her arms.

Avian Punch.

BOOM!

The first strike detonated like a cannon.

Compressed Avian force erupted outward, pulverizing a dozen incoming tentacles before they could reach her. Chunks of black flesh scattered across the corridor, dissolving into smoke before they touched the floor.

The Ghoul hissed.

"So you finally chose violence."

Sonia shook her head.

"No."

Another punch.

BOOM!

"You keep confusing violence..."

A third.

BOOM!

"...with conviction."

She rushed forward.

Each step shattered the floor beneath her.

The Ghoul retaliated instantly.

Hundreds of tendrils erupted from every direction, weaving together into an inescapable cage.

Left.

Right.

Above.

Below.

There was nowhere to move.

"...Got you."

Its voice echoed triumphantly.

Sonia closed her eyes.

Just for an instant.

"Hollow Step."

Everything became quiet.

Her body dissolved.

Not into light.

Not into shadow.

Into...

nothing.

A technique taught by the Airiens.

To become nothing...

in order to understand everything.

The tentacles passed harmlessly through the empty space where she had been.

The Ghoul blinked.

"...What?"

A ripple appeared directly in front of it.

Sonia stepped back into existence.

Already mid-swing.

Her fist glowed with blazing crimson wrapped around white Avian energy.

The Ghoul barely had time to widen its eyes.

AVIAN PUNCH!

The impact was catastrophic.

Her fist tore clean through its abdomen.

A shockwave exploded out the creature's back, blasting a circular hole straight through its torso.

The corridor behind it collapsed into fragments of broken memory.

For a brief second...

everything stood still.

The Ghoul looked down.

At the hole.

At the light pouring through it.

"...Impossible..."

Black smoke leaked from the wound instead of blood.

Its body began flickering.

Sonia slowly pulled her fist back.

The crimson aura around it flickered gently now, no longer raging.

Controlled.

Purposeful.

"I was angry."

She looked directly into the monster's distorted eyes.

"I still am."

"But my anger isn't your weapon."

"It belongs to me."

The Ghoul stumbled backward.

Its form started cracking apart like burnt porcelain.

"No..."

"No..."

"You were supposed to become us!"

Its voice fractured into dozens of overlapping screams.

"You were supposed to hate!"

Sonia's expression softened.

"I do hate."

The Ghoul froze.

"I hate abuse."

"I hate manipulation."

"I hate people using kindness against others."

She inhaled deeply.

"But hatred doesn't get to decide who I become."

The Ghoul's body finally gave way.

Cracks spread across every inch of its form before exploding into countless black fragments that dissolved into the labyrinth itself.

Silence returned.

Only Sonia remained standing.

She looked down at her trembling hands.

Not because she doubted herself.

Because she finally understood them.

Her red aura faded into the warmth of Avia, flowing peacefully around her body.

She turned toward the endless maze ahead.

Somewhere...

Osei.

Yyvone.

Charles.

Kennedy.

Ian.

They were all trapped inside this nightmare.

Sonia clenched her fists one more time, a determined smile breaking through the tension.

"I'll find you guys..."

She took her first step into the darkness.

"...Don't worry."

And with that, she disappeared deeper into the labyrinth, no longer running from her emotions...

...but running with them.
