Brandan Hyde walked out, expressionless.

A voice as faint as a mosquito's buzz came from inside the room. He paused his steps and turned his head to look at her.
Iris Harris's face appeared somewhat blurred due to the shadows inside the room.
It was indistinct.
Yet, deep down, he clung to a faint hope, waiting for her response at the door.

"Goodbye."
The low voice came from inside the room.
Brandan Hyde gave a silent, mocking smile and turned to leave.
He must be enchanted; how could he think Iris Harris would call him back, hoping he'd stay?
Their relationship had turned into this long ago.
He pursued with abandon, while she retreated step by step. It was just unknown when he started to feel tired.
The situation with Melody Nelson and Nathan Nelson was the last straw.
He could understand her prioritizing other matters over him.
But he couldn't tolerate even two strangers being more important than he was.
