His large hand slowly slid down from her head to her face, turning to hold her face; his eyes looked deeply down, dragging her into the deep sea within them that could drown anyone: "Promise me, Scarlett."
Scarlett hesitated.
With hesitation written all over her face, she glanced at Matthew Saxon, didn't say a word, lowered her eyes and hung her head, as if weighing whether or not she should agree to him.
Could she truly and completely trust him?
Matthew did not rush her, but as he watched her hesitate, he felt a bit disappointed inside.
She still hadn't reached the point where she could trust him unconditionally.
He knew very well that they hadn't been together long enough; even if they both had feelings for each other, the foundation of their relationship was still not solid.
These things needed time to establish.
