Her shoulders sagged weakly as she lowered her gaze to her toes, her voice very soft but still audible to Matthew Saxon: "If that's the case, I have nothing more to say. If you truly believe I've betrayed you, then let's break up."
"I know you would never tolerate a woman who has betrayed you."
As the word "breakup" slipped from her lips, her eyes warmed, and silent tears slid down her cheeks as if a knife had cut away a piece of her heart.
"Breakup?" As she uttered that word, Matthew Saxon's face turned extremely unpleasant.
"Scarlett Yates, now everyone in Z City knows we are getting married, and you're asking me to break up with you on the eve of our wedding. Are you deliberately trying to make me a laughing stock?"
"I'm not."
"What did Maxwell Saxon promise you? Did he tell you that after we break up, he'll take you away from Z City? Did he also tell you he'll work hard to make money to support you, ensuring you never suffer any grievances?"
