Chapter 136 - The Heaven Of Origin World

[Last Episode: Isaac, standing beside his mother, felt something settle fully into place — the search finally over, the years finally closed, the woman beside him exactly as warm and fierce as the fragments of memory he'd carried his entire life had promised she'd be.]

Chapter 136, Episode 136

[The Netherworld Kingdom — A Secret Beneath the Village]

[Chloe led them out past the palace grounds, past the market district, into a quiet, unremarkable village at the kingdom's northern edge — the kind of place that didn't appear on any official map, tucked into the hillside like it preferred not to be noticed]

[She stopped at a well in the village center, pressed her palm flat against a specific, unmarked stone along its rim, and the ground beneath them shuddered open into a staircase spiraling down into warm, golden light]

Quinn: That's convenient.

Chloe: It's been here since before I was queen. My own mother showed it to me when I was young.

Isaac: Where does it lead?

Chloe: Somewhere that's going to take about a month to reach, even from here. Somewhere I've been hoping to bring you since before you could walk.

[They descended, and the golden light gave way to an open path — not underground exactly, more like a corridor between places, and Chloe walked it easily, familiarly, while Isaac and Quinn kept pace on either side of her]

Isaac: You never mentioned any of this.

Chloe: There wasn't a version of your childhood where you were ready for it. You were too young, and then you were gone, and I spent seven years assuming I'd never get the chance to bring it up at all.

[She glanced sideways at him, something soft in her expression.]

Chloe: Tell me everything. All of it. Every year I missed.

[And so he did — haltingly at first, then with more ease, walking her through fragments of the Chaos Universe, of Force Light Guild, of Leo and the Eastern World, of Ereshkigal's brutal five-week training, of the war against Voriath and everything it had cost and everything it had given him]

[Chloe listened to all of it without interrupting, occasionally reaching over to squeeze his arm at the harder parts, her expression cycling between pride and quiet, private grief for everything she hadn't been there to see.]

Chloe: You died. Categorically erased, you said.

Isaac: My best friend Leo did. I didn't. I was the one who kept fighting while he found his way back.

Chloe: And you're telling me this so casually.

Isaac: It happened weeks ago. I've had time to process it.

Chloe: I haven't.

[She pulled him into a brief, fierce hug mid-walk, and Isaac let her, laughing a little despite himself.]

Isaac: I'm fine, Mom.

Chloe: You'll let me worry anyway. I've got seven years of worrying to catch up on.

[Quinn walked a little behind them for a while, giving mother and son the space to talk, but eventually Chloe drew her back into the conversation too]

Chloe: Tell me about your family, dear. Dragons, you said?

Quinn: Queen of Dragons, technically. Though I spend most of my time avoiding the throne rather than sitting on it.

Chloe: A queen who runs from her throne. I like you already.

Quinn: The council doesn't appreciate it as much as you do.

Chloe: Councils rarely appreciate anything interesting. How long have you two been together?

Quinn: Officially? About a week.

Chloe: And unofficially?

[Quinn, going a little pink:]

Quinn...Longer.

Chloe: That's the correct answer.

[Isaac groaned, and Quinn laughed, and the three of them kept walking, the corridor of golden light stretching on ahead of them, one month's journey still waiting at its end.]

[The Heaven of Origin World]

[The path finally opened, after weeks of walking, talking, resting, and walking again, into something that defied easy description]

『1 month later』

『Traveling through space-time with a different timeline as it changes was both passes through, time passes freely and it goes fast simultaneously with distance and surpassing time and physics and even the literal space itself to reach to the Heaven of Origin World』

『The Heaven of Origin World was a foundation — a realm that sat above and beneath the layered structure of countless multiverses simultaneously, not contained within any single hierarchy of dimensions but woven through all of them at once, the way roots run beneath an entire forest without any single tree claiming ownership of them』

『Where the Primus World held infinite universes within its own structure, the Heaven of Origin held the origin points those universes had branched from — the first causes, the founding principles, the seeds every subsequent reality had eventually grown from』

『It operated on a higher scale encompassing infinite dimensions, but serving as the wellspring those dimensions drew their existence from in the first place. Mountains here weren't mountains; they were concepts given shape, ideas about permanence and stillness solidified into something climbable. Rivers ran not with water, but with the accumulated spiritual merit of every being who'd ever cultivated virtue seriously enough to leave a trace on the cosmic ledger』

[Quinn, staring up at the golden sky, genuinely stunned for the first time in longer than she could remember]

Quinn: What is this place.

Chloe: The place where the first principles come from. Older than any multiverse I've ever heard named. Older, I suspect, than most of the beings your friend Leo has fought.

Isaac: You've been here before.

Chloe: Once. A very long time ago, before you were born. It's not a place you forget.

[They walked another stretch before the palace came into view — vast beyond reasonable scale, built from something that looked like jade but breathed faintly, like living stone, its towers disappearing upward into layers of golden cloud that never seemed to fully clear at its gates, Chloe stopped, and knelt]

[Isaac and Quinn, following her lead, knelt as well]

[A voice arrived before the figure did — warm, ancient, carrying the specific weight of something that had been patient for longer than most concepts had existed]

Yuhwang: Rise. All three of you.

[They stood, and the Jade Emperor descended the palace steps to meet them — an old man in appearance only, robes the color of deep jade shot through with gold, eyes that held the specific stillness of someone who had watched entire cosmologies rise and fall without needing to hurry through any of it.]

Yuhwang: Chloe. It has been a long time.

Chloe: It has, Your Majesty.

Yuhwang: And this is the son you spoke of, all those years ago. Before he was lost to you.

Chloe: He's found now. And I've brought him to you, because I believe he's ready for what you offer — more ready than I was, at his age.

[Yuhwang studied Isaac for a long moment, and something in his expression shifted into quiet, genuine interest.]

Yuhwang: Twilight-bound. A fire user who carries the boundary between existence and non-existence inside him. That's rare. Rarer still to find it in someone who's survived carrying it this long.

Isaac: You can feel that, just looking at me?

Yuhwang: I've been looking at fire users for longer than your species has had a name for fire. Yes, I can feel it.

[The Purpose]

[Chloe stepped forward]

Chloe: Your Majesty, I've brought my son here because he needs what only you can teach. His power has grown further than I ever imagined it would, but it's still scattered — Twilight, Cinder, his fire, all of it working together but not yet unified into something whole. I believe he has the potential to walk the path you walked. To become what you are.

[Yuhwang's expression remained unreadable for a long moment.]

Yuhwang: You're asking me to consider him for the Jade Emperor's succession.

Chloe: I am.

[Isaac blinked, caught off guard.]

Isaac: Wait — succession? I thought I was just here to train.

Yuhwang: Training is the smallest part of what your mother is asking for. Becoming the next Jade Emperor is not a matter of learning techniques. It is a matter of becoming something entirely different from what you currently are.

Quinn: What does that actually involve?

[Yuhwang looked at her, then back at Isaac, and settled into the specific, unhurried cadence of someone about to explain something that had taken him centuries to fully understand himself.]

Yuhwang: Long ago, before this realm existed in its current form, before there was a single origin point for any multiverse to draw from, there was only scattered potential — power with no direction, virtue with no throne to anchor it, cosmic law with no one to maintain it. I was chosen, in my time, to give that potential a shape. To become the axis certain principles could organize themselves around.

[He raised one hand, and threads of golden light gathered faintly around his fingers — not aggressive, not demonstrative, simply present, the way breath is present in a living body.]

Yuhwang: My true power is not measured the way your world measures power. I do not simply generate force or manipulate elements. I am the accumulated principle of thirty-five Sages, unified into a single throne. Each Sage represents a discipline — a complete, total mastery of one specific domain of existence, refined across ages by beings who dedicated their entire span of life to it and then passed what they'd learned into the throne itself. I hold all thirty-five simultaneously, and in holding them, I maintain the order that lets your multiverses — all of them, every single one — continue operating according to consistent law rather than collapsing into pure, meaningless chaos.

Isaac: That's — that's an enormous amount of responsibility.

Yuhwang: It is.

Isaac: And you're saying I could become that.

Yuhwang: I'm saying you have the seed of it. Whether it grows depends entirely on what you're willing to endure to cultivate it.

[The Requirements]

[Yuhwang folded his hands behind his back, and his expression grew more serious, the warmth of the greeting settling into something closer to genuine instruction]

Yuhwang: There are four things required of anyone who walks this path, and none of them can be shortcut, no matter how much raw power you already carry.

[He held up one finger.]

Yuhwang: First — you must cultivate virtue and discipline. The real thing, examined and re-examined until it holds under pressure you didn't choose.

[A second finger.]

Yuhwang: Second — you must accumulate spiritual merit through righteous action. Not through victories. Through choices. Every time you help without needing to, protect without being asked, sacrifice without expecting return — that leaves a mark on the cosmic ledger. Enough marks, and the ledger begins to recognize you.

[A third.]

Yuhwang: Third — you must establish governance and cosmic law where none currently holds. Order does not maintain itself. You will need to prove you can build structure that serves something larger than your own convenience, and hold that structure even when holding it costs you.

[A fourth, and his tone deepened.]

Yuhwang: And fourth, hardest of all — you must master all thirty-five Sages of Power. Not sample them. Master each one so completely that it becomes indistinguishable from your own nature. Most who attempt this path fail at a single Sage and never progress further. I do not say this to discourage you. I say it because pretending otherwise would be a disservice to what you're about to attempt.

[Isaac was quiet for a long moment, absorbing the weight of it.]

Isaac: How long does something like this usually take?

Yuhwang: Lifetimes, typically.

[Chloe's expression tightened slightly.]

Yuhwang: But you don't have lifetimes. Your mother tells me there are things happening in the wider cosmology that won't wait that long. So we will attempt something faster. A month, condensed and merciless, covering what would normally take considerably longer. It will not be gentle.

Isaac: I didn't come here for gentle.

[Yuhwang studied him again, and something like approval flickered across his ancient face.]

Yuhwang: Good answer.

[Quinn stepped forward]

Quinn: What about me? I want to help him through this.

[Yuhwang turned his attention to her, and his expression softened slightly.]

Yuhwang: You carry dragon blood. Royal dragon blood, unless I'm mistaken.

Quinn: Queen of Dragons. For whatever that's worth these days.

Yuhwang: It's worth quite a bit, actually — but not here. The thirty-five Sages are not compatible with your bloodline's nature. What I teach here is built for beings who walk a different path than dragons do. Your own mastery, if you're seeking it, needs to come from your own kind — the ancient dragon disciplines, passed down through your own lineage rather than mine.

[Quinn's face fell slightly, but she nodded, understanding.]

Quinn: So I can't train alongside him.

Yuhwang: Not in the way you're imagining. But you can stay. You can support him through it — and having someone he trusts nearby will matter more than you think, over a month like the one he's about to face.

[Quinn looked at Isaac, and something settled, resolute, behind her eyes.]

Quinn: Then I'm staying.

Isaac: You don't have to—

Quinn: I know I don't have to. I'm choosing to.

[He looked at her for a long moment, something warm and grateful passing between them, and then turned back to Yuhwang.]

Isaac: Alright. Where do we start?

[Yuhwang smiled — the first full smile he'd offered since they'd arrived, ancient and genuinely pleased.]

Yuhwang: We start with the first Sage. And we do not stop until either you've mastered all thirty-five, or the month runs out and we find out exactly how far you got.

[He turned, robes trailing golden light behind him, and led the three of them toward the palace's inner sanctum, where the real work was about to begin.]

『The Palace of the Jade Emperor — A Demonstration』

[Yuhwang paused at the base of a wide staircase leading deeper into the palace, and something in his posture shifted — just a subtle straightening, the specific settling of someone about to stop holding something back]

Yuhwang: Before we begin, I think it's worth understanding, plainly, what it is you're asking to become.

[He rose fully from where he'd been standing at ease, and the air around him changed.]

[It was simply absolute — a pressure that didn't push so much as inform, settling over the courtyard with the specific weight of something that had, at some point long ago, stopped needing to announce its own significance]

[Isaac felt his knees buckle before he registered deciding to kneel]

Quinn: —what—

[She went down beside him, one hand braced against the stone, her Dragon Maint flickering and dying the moment she tried to call on it —simply unable to exist in the same space as whatever Yuhwang currently was.]

[Isaac, straining, genuinely startled]

Issac: I can't— my fire's not responding—

Quinn: Neither is mine—

[Yuhwang watched them both, patient, unhurried, his expression carrying no cruelty at all — just the calm, matter-of-fact demonstration of a teacher showing a student exactly how large the gap in front of them actually was.]

Yuhwang: Your Grace, forgive the abruptness. I find explanations land better after a demonstration than before one.

[He eased the pressure, and both of them found their limbs answering again, though it took a moment for either to trust standing back up.]

[Isaac, breathing hard, genuinely humbled]

Issac: Your Majesty. I understand now. That wasn't even an attack, was it.

Yuhwang: It wasn't. That was simply my presence, unrestrained. An attack would look considerably different, and I have no intention of showing you that unless the day comes you're ready to receive it properly.

[Quinn, still catching her breath, bowing her head with real respect now]

Quinn: Forgive me for underestimating what we walked into, Your Majesty.

Yuhwang: There is nothing to forgive. Nobody arrives here already understanding the scale of it. That understanding is part of what I'm about to teach.

[The Training Center]

[He led them deeper into the palace grounds, past golden gardens and reflecting pools that held images instead of water — faces of ages past, principles given visible shape — until they reached a wide, open training ground ringed by thirty-five distinct stone pillars, each one etched with symbols Isaac didn't recognize]

Yuhwang: Each pillar represents one of the thirty-five Sages. Today, we begin with the first five.

Isaac: Only five today?

Yuhwang: Five today. Five tomorrow, if you manage today's properly. This will not be a smooth, even pace — some Sages will yield to you quickly, others will resist for days before anything moves at all. I make no promises about how this month unfolds beyond the fact that it will demand everything you have.

[Isaac inclined his head.]

Isaac: I understand, Your Majesty. I'm ready to begin, however difficult it is.

Yuhwang: Good. That answer will matter more than you know, later.

[Quinn settled onto a low bench at the training ground's edge, and Yuhwang glanced her way]

Yuhwang: You're welcome to stay and observe, Your Grace. Your presence, I suspect, will do him more good than either of you currently realizes.

Quinn: Thank you, Your Majesty. I'd like that.

[She looked at Isaac, offering a small, steady smile — the specific reassurance of someone who intended to be exactly where she'd said she would be, for as long as it took.]

Isaac: I'll do my best not to embarrass myself in front of you.

Quinn: You already have, several times. I'm still here.

Isaac: Fair point.

[Yuhwang moved to the center of the training ground and gestured for Isaac to follow]

Yuhwang: Before the first Sage, understand this — mastery here is not measured by how much power you can generate. It is measured by whether the power generated still belongs to something worth protecting. A being with infinite strength and no discipline is simply a disaster waiting for a trigger. A being with modest strength and complete discipline can hold a throne for centuries.

Isaac: So the virtue and discipline part isn't separate from the Sages. It's underneath all of them.

Yuhwang: Correctly understood. You'll find that every Sage you master tests that foundation in a different way. Fail the foundation, and the power itself becomes unstable, regardless of how much of it you've accumulated.

[Isaac nodded slowly, taking it in with genuine seriousness.]

Isaac: Your Majesty — may I ask something first?

Yuhwang: You may.

Isaac: How powerful are you, actually? Not the philosophy of it. The actual scale.

[Yuhwang considered the question for a long moment, and something like quiet amusement crossed his ancient face.]

Yuhwang: I maintain cosmic law across every multiverse that draws its origin from this realm. If I chose to withdraw that maintenance entirely, the resulting collapse would unmake structures far larger than anything your friend Voriath ever threatened. I do not say this to frighten you. I say it because you asked plainly, and you deserve a plain answer before you commit a month of your life to walking toward it.

[Isaac, quietly]

Issac: That's — an extraordinary amount of responsibility to carry alone.

Yuhwang: It has been carried alone for a very long time. That is, in part, why I permitted your mother to bring you here. A throne meant to be occupied by one being indefinitely eventually calcifies. It needs succession, or it needs to end. I would prefer the former.

[Isaac absorbed that in silence, the full weight of what he was actually being offered settling properly for the first time.]

Isaac: Thank you for trusting me with that answer, Your Majesty.

Yuhwang: Thank your mother. She vouched for you in ways I don't extend lightly.

[He turned toward the first pillar, its surface glowing faintly as he approached.]

Yuhwang: Now. Let us begin properly. The First Sage — the Sage of Stillness.

Isaac: What does mastering it require?

Yuhwang: Standing in the center of this ground, without moving, without drawing on a single ounce of your power, for as long as it takes your mind to stop wanting to.

[Isaac blinked, clearly having expected something more immediately combative.]

Isaac: That's it?

Yuhwang: That's it. And I promise you, it will be harder than anything else you attempt today.

[Isaac looked at the empty center of the training ground, then at Quinn, who gave him an encouraging nod from the bench, and finally back at Yuhwang.]

Isaac: Alright, Your Majesty. I'm ready.

Yuhwang: Then begin.

[He stepped into the center of the ground, settled into stillness, and the first, quiet test of the entire month began.]

To be continued....
