"What's wrong?" he asked quickly. "Do you feel nauseous? Is something hurting?"
Ember shook her head slowly. "No… none of that."
She hesitated before adding, "I want to go for another check-up."
Jay blinked. "Again?"
"Just… think of it as confirming everything," she said quietly. "That there's really nothing that can be done."
Jay studied her face for a moment, then nodded. "Alright."

At the hospital, the familiar sterile smell returned, sharp and clinical.
Jay already knew what to expect. Or so he thought.
When the report was handed to him, his fingers tightened around the paper. His eyes scanned the lines once… then again.
"This… this …"
His voice faltered. The results were completely different.
Where there had once been danger, now there was improvement... a significant one.
Ember leaned closer, her eyes racing across the report, and in the next instant, her entire face lit up. 'It's real… it wasn't a dream …'
