Jeff let out a short, dismissive laugh. "Well, if it's too much, just stop, alright?"
Ferrero's eyes gleamed coldly.
"When the backlash hits… I'll be the one who'll die, not you."
Ferrero's fists clenched tightly, his nails digging into his palms.
"Why didn't you tell me the cost was this high earlier?" he snapped.
Jeff laughed again, this time louder, almost mockingly. "If I told you everything… would you have agreed?"
Ferrero fell silent. The answer was obvious.
"No," Jeff continued calmly. "You wouldn't have."
"That still doesn't make this right," Ferrero muttered, anger simmering beneath his words.
Jeff shook his head slowly.
"You don't understand," he said, his voice turning serious. "Opening a portal is necessary. Our kind must return."
His gaze darkened. "Once they do… this world will slowly fall into our hands."
