Chapter 4 - The Horizon

My mother once told me to never give up. She told me "Jake, if you want to fly, the sky is far below the limit. If you want to find a dragon, I will meet twenty. If you want to travel, you'll walk to the horizon." So I did. People say she was making a metaphor or laugh and assume I'm doing to same, but I know her way better than they do. So I walked. From The Louvre Museum in Paris to The Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany to The Ustyurt Plateau in Central Asia, and on. People talk about the world as this vast, overwhelmingly large area, but it's smaller than people make it out to be. I'm never going back to Belgium, I have now angered a gang. I trekked far and long. I have reached the Horizon. The Horizon is an odd place. The grass feels like cold water and the air tastes like strawberries. There are no cows, we get our milk from the Spotted Tree. There are many different colors, most are white with black trunks, but there are pink ones for strawberry milk, brown ones for chocolate milk, and neon green ones for mint. Don't ask a out the green ones. The milk grows inside like sap, and the Bucking Bees love it. Bees here don't have antennae, they have long, bull-like horns. I don't know why bees sting people, ramming into them full-force is much more effective. Hurts like hell too. I saw a purple-nosed pig the other day. I really don't know why they're called that. Yes they have purple noses, but they also have huge, wild eyes and a chimera goat on their backs. I feel like there are much more significant matters than their noses. The chickens at the Horizon are much more distinguished than chickens around the world. They have long, colorful tail feathers, and they are quite skinny. In the charted areas of the world, female creatures are always so dull. It's not the same way here, there are no dull animals. Except for the turtle, but there's only a few of those. They are such a dull grey, and they really just have nothing interesting about them. I knew my mother was right. Never let anyone tell you the sky is the limit. Because then, you'll never aim higher.
