Chapter 350: Cyprian: This Is So Un-Witcher

Cyprian sat in the bathtub filled with hot water, a cold glint in his eyes. Just moments ago, he had been about to tell Casno to get his men and go to the Willy estate. But then, a sudden memory of the lone attacker effortlessly killing his father's two best swordsmen and the sorcerer flashed in his mind.

If they went too early, the attacker might still be there, and they'd walk right into a trap. Cyprian had seen three attackers. If each of them was that terrifying, taking just the casino's men would be suicide. It would be better to wait for a while until the attackers left.

With that thought in mind, Cyprian luxuriated in the hot water for a full hour, changing the water several times. Only after he had put on a fresh set of clothes, feeling comfortable and refreshed, did he slowly inform Casno about the attack on the Willy estate.

Casno was shocked and immediately gathered his most trusted men from the casino to return to the estate with Cyprian. By the time they arrived, the heavy rain had long stopped, but the pungent smell of blood still hung in the air.

The main gate was open, and the guards posted there were already dead. The group immediately tensed up, drawing their weapons as they cautiously stepped inside.

Once they were through the gate, they found bodies everywhere. Without waiting for orders, Casno's men fanned out, taking up defensive positions to avoid a surprise attack from any remaining enemies.

Casno knelt to examine the dead guards, seeing that each one had been killed with a single, precise blow. He stood and shook his head. "They're all dead."

"Quick! Go find my father!" Cyprian tried his best to hide the look of excitement and anticipation on his face.

They eventually found Alphonse Willy and his guards' bodies in the room where Alphonse usually spent his time.

"Pfft," Cyprian let out a strange chuckle, then, as if realizing his mistake, quickly clamped his hands over his mouth. He crouched down, his shoulders shaking violently.

"Young Master?" Casno's eyes held a hint of pity.

But in the next moment, unrestrained laughter filled the room. "Hahahahahahaha—" The years of oppression and hatred were finally released, and Cyprian felt an immense sense of relief and exhilaration.

"From now on, I am the new head of the Willy gang. Casno, I expect you to continue serving me with the same loyalty you showed my father."

Cyprian waited for a response, but none came. He was both confused and uneasy. He turned to find Casno staring blankly at Alphonse's body, as if he hadn't heard a word.

"That baron… he actually did it. And from the looks of it, it wasn't a large group; just a small squad of elites. No wonder he was so confident."

"Huh? Casno, what are you talking about? What baron? Who are you talking about?"

"Baron Brandon, of course," Casno said, smiling at Cyprian. The pity in his eyes was now even more pronounced.

Cyprian's hairs on the back of his neck stood on end. "You... traitor!"

Casno shook his head. "No, I'm a mole." He nodded behind Cyprian. One of the thugs who had been standing behind Cyprian suddenly brought down a lucerne hammer on the back of Cyprian's head. Cyprian's body went stiff, then he collapsed like a sack of dead weight.

"With both of them gone, the Willy gang will be headless. The other officers will kill each other for the top spot. Even if boss Cleaver doesn't lift a finger, the Willy gang is finished."

The thug reminded him, "Sir, the Whoresons have been hoarding wealth for years. They must have a fortune hidden away. Maybe we should...?"

But Casno shook his head. "No need. That baron probably took everything already. There won't be anything left for us. Besides, we've been moles for so long. We've earned our keep, and I'm sure boss Cleaver will reward us handsomely."

"Cut the 'Young Master's' head off and take it back to boss Cleaver. Don't touch anything else. We need to leave quickly, before anyone else finds us and starts trouble."

The very night Lynn and his companions returned to the villa in the upper city, Cleaver sent someone to Dudu's shop with a gift. Although Dudu was in hiding under Shapelle's arrangement, the shop remained open. After all, it served as a front for Baron Brandon's office in Novigrad.

Upon hearing the news, Lynn left the villa, used the Charm of Deception to resume his appearance as Baron Brandon, and went to Dudu's shop. There, he met the dwarf emissary from Cleaver and was presented with a gift: the severed head of Alphonse Willy's son, Cyprian.

Gazing at Cyprian's wide, lifeless eyes, Lynn couldn't help but sigh at the unpredictability of it all. He had thought it wouldn't matter if Cyprian escaped, as he couldn't cause any real trouble. Yet, less than a day had passed, and Cyprian was already... this.

"Please tell Lord Cleaver that I appreciate his gift very much," Lynn told the emissary. "I sincerely hope our alliance and friendship last for eternity."

The emissary bowed respectfully. "Yes, my lord Baron, I will be sure to pass on your words. If that is all, I will take my leave."

After Cleaver's man had gone, Letho smiled. "No wonder you weren't worried when Cyprian ran away. You knew he'd run straight to Cleaver." He then scoffed. "Does that man have no brain? To run to the one person who hates his father as much as Cleaver does?"

But Lynn shook his head. "No. He was killed by a mole Cleaver had planted inside the Willy gang."

"A mole?"

"I don't believe Cyprian was that stupid. The Willy gang has other hideouts in the city. He wouldn't have avoided his father's men to go running to Cleaver."

Letho's mind was a mess. He had always prided himself on his intelligence, but he had never understood these kinds of plots. Still, he decided it didn't matter. He didn't have to rack his brain over it anyway.
