Chapter 444 - Chapter 444: Rejecting That Future

Chapter 444: Rejecting That Future

"Ju… Juzi?!"

Huo Yuhao's voice trembled as he stared at the woman before him familiar, yet unfamiliar.

Familiar, because he had seen her in the future video.

Unfamiliar, because this was their first time meeting in reality they were essentially strangers.

"Rise."

Elder Ye waved his hand, and Orange, who had been kneeling in deep respect, stood up immediately.

"This isn't the place for conversation. Let's find somewhere more secluded."

Sweeping his gaze around, Elder Ye easily detected multiple hidden figures in the surroundings. Their battle had attracted too much attention.

"Yes."

Orange nodded respectfully.

To her, Elder Ye was like a reborn parent.

It was because of his legacy that she had discovered another path.

Now, having inherited his martial soul and techniques, calling him "teacher" was not only appropriate it felt completely natural.

She wouldn't have hesitated even for a moment to acknowledge him as her adoptive father.

Elder Ye waved his hand again, channeling Huo Yuhao's soul power.

Immediately, thick fog rolled in from all directions, shrouding the entire area.

Those lurking in the shadows were instantly blinded even their spiritual senses and detection techniques failed to penetrate the mist.

Fear struck their hearts.

Not daring to make a move, they stood their ground, assuming defensive stances, waiting for a possible ambush.

But their worries were pointless.

Nobody had time to waste on nameless background characters.

By the time the fog cleared, Elder Ye and the others had already vanished without a trace.

To Huo Yuhao, it all happened in an instant.

Elder Ye had merely waved his hand, consuming a portion of his soul power

And then, in the blink of an eye, the scenery changed.

The surroundings blurred, and when they cleared, they had been teleported to an unknown location.

"This place will do."

His tone was calm, but to Huo Yuhao, it was mind blowing.

This was his own body, using his own soul power

And yet, all he could do was activate preset soul skills from his soul rings.

Meanwhile, Elder Ye?

With just a small fraction of power, he could bend reality itself.

It was beyond comprehension.

But then again…

Considering Elder Ye's true identity, maybe this was completely normal.

After all, in his prime, Elder Ye had been a god above gods.

Even if he was now just a fragment, if he couldn't do something as simple as this, wouldn't that be even stranger?

As soon as they arrived, a flash of light appeared beside Huo Yuhao, and he felt himself regain control of his body.

Across from him, Orange saw Elder Ye manifest in full form, and her heart leaped with excitement.

She was about to kneel again, but suddenly

An invisible force stopped her knees from touching the ground.

No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't kneel.

"There's no need for formalities."

Elder Ye shook his head.

"You obtained this legacy through fate. There's no need to bow to me you should thank the mysterious 'Path Seeker' who gave you the chance to break free from fate."

"Even so," Orange responded, "I received your inheritance. Paying my respects is only natural."

She had seen his life through the dream

She had witnessed how he went from weak to strong, accomplishing what no one else dared to dream of.

To her, he was not just a teacher he was a legend.

She admired him with all her heart.

"Elder Ye, what's going on here?"

Finally, Huo Yuhao found an opportunity to speak.

His curiosity was burning.

"This… Miss Orange why does she have your inheritance?"

Because they were complete strangers, Huo Yuhao hesitated in addressing her.

In the end, he added a "Miss" to her name just to be polite.

Even though, in the original timeline, they would have had a complicated relationship…

That was a future that no longer existed.

The timeline had already changed.

There was no reason for him to assume that she had any feelings for him.

He wasn't so arrogant as to think that just because something happened in an alternate future, she would automatically like him now.

And upon hearing him call her "Miss Orange," Orange secretly thought:

"At least he has some self awareness."

Even though she knew that in the original timeline, she and Huo Yuhao would become entangled, even bearing his child…

That was a different life.

A life she despised.

If anything, knowing that horrible fate in advance only made her hate him more.

She felt that in the original timeline, it was his ridiculous protagonist aura that had warped her mind, making her fall for him due to sheer coincidence after coincidence.

And in the end?

She, who had planned and schemed for years, had accomplished nothing.

All her efforts had been for nothing.

And the final insult?

She had given birth to the child of her enemy.

It was the cruelest joke imaginable.

She refused to acknowledge that future.

She refused to accept that destiny.

If that fate was truly unchangeable

Then she would rather die than suffer that humiliation!

Whether Elder Ye noticed the unspoken tension between them or simply didn't care, he continued speaking.

"Divine artifacts are bound to their owners by life itself. Even if they shatter, they retain fragments of their master's essence."

"Even in pieces, that essence never fades."

"Orange happened to obtain one of those fragments, and when she came into contact with its essence, she was granted part of my legacy."

"This even altered her own body resulting in her gaining two additional martial souls."

Turning to Orange, he asked, "I assume I'm correct?"

"Teacher is absolutely right."

Orange nodded obediently, then raised both hands.

With a flash of light

In her left hand, a nine tiered pagoda appeared.

In her right hand, a masterfully crafted longsword gleamed.

"Wh what?!"

Huo Yuhao was completely stunned.

"Elder Ye… your fragment… can grant someone a twin martial soul?!"

"No."

Orange shook her head.

"Not twin martial souls."

"Triple martial souls."

She smirked slightly, as if showing off.

"Including my original martial soul, I now have three."

Her words carried a hint of pride.

After all

In the original story, Huo Yuhao was the only one with three martial souls.

But now?

She wasn't inferior to him at all.

She had also become a true three martial soul genius.

She had broken free from fate

And she would never be controlled by him again.
