Zay, Rei, and Naomi arrived at the temple after a bit of walking and the three of them walked down the stairs to enter beneath the temple just as Zay and Rei did a few hours ago.
Upon reaching the bottom of the stairs, Rei took the lead as he had his journal out with a map of the area and began to walk down the long stone hallway. he took steps over certain stones that he felt like he couldn't trust and the three arrived quicky to the room with all of the gear inside.
"This is where we found that notebook." Zay mentioned to Naomi before walking further into the room, his night vision activating as he began to go through armor sets all with different names etched into the metal.
'Names of the warriors who once wore the armor?" Zay repeated this thought only twice as he walked down, reading different names.
Lily Bell, Moon Wilson, Almon Chez, Jack Dove, Ray Noon, Draven Solara, Zorik Chaser, and Lyric Gustis.
Those were the names that Zay looked over as their armor was made of platinum. steel, and gold.
'Does the metal used for armor determine their rank? If that's the case, were these names people of high ranking?'
Rei and Naomi looked throughout the room, searching small drawers beneath pieces of armor, opening some drawers next to swords, before Naomi opened one drawer, she looked inside and found a older model of a revolver, to be exact, it was one of the first models ever created inside of Gyro.
"I think I found something interesting!" she raised her voice loud enough to where Zay could hear her and he walked towards her.
Rei crouched down next to her, looking inside the drawer as Zay looked down into the drawer. Zay's eyes shifted back into that same midnight-blue color but neither of the others noticed it and Zay crouched down. The revolver glowing a bright white glow only to his vision.
'A revolver blessed by a divinity? That's... indeed very interesting. That's not something you see everyday.'
Zay reached his hand into the drawer, his eyes shifting back into a dark amethyst before his fingers locked around the revolver. Carefully, he lifted the revolver out of the drawer, placing it down on top of it, next to a sword pointed downward.
"I'll be damned. This is really rare." Rei looked down at the revolver, his eyes widened slightly before returning to normal before he added, "I can't believe this is here. It must've been another Arbiter, right? I mean, this model is from Gyro. It represents the maker of the revolver, Colt. He was a mysterious fellow from the books I've read. He didn't speak much to anyone but he sold the revolver to a large family for a great sum of gold and just vanished one night."
'Colt... and a revolver? The maker of the revolver...' Zay repeated these words to himself a few times before his eyes widened.
'Was fucking Samuel Colt also reincarnated into this world at a point and made a revolver here?'
Zay's eyes glanced down at the revolver, he reached out and lifted the revolver into his hands, checking everything about the revolver from the cylinder, to the handle, and the barrel closely.
'I've never really gotten the chance to see what all Samuel Colt had made personally due to his death in the 1800's.' he placed the revolver into his Arbiter: Vault, wanting to make sure he was able to keep it.
"When... we get back to Gyro, I'll make sure we go to a store to look at it. Maybe they can tell us a good price for something so original. Especially with how clean it is." Zay said with a smile that didn't quite feel right.
Rei looked at his face and sighed before standing up. He gave a nod, not wanting to start a fight over a revolver since it didn't matter. They were all going to get out alive, make it back home, find a dealer, and sell the revolver anyways. What's the point in starting an argument over it?
Zay's smile faded as he turned around, looking down the hallway of gear and began to walk towards the end of the room. Searching for anyone that might be a 'switch' as that old man told him about.
Several minutes goes by and Zay began to check each armor set themselves before finding a slow blinking dark red light and reached his arm inside carefully. He clicked the button and his Arbiter: Resonance Lens popped up in front of him.
[1/3 switches have been activated. The mirror remains unactive. Leaving the Sequence remains impossible.]
[To turn on Switch 2, interact with the shrine.]
'It's not even going to tell me where this shrine? So what, I just have to search this entire continent for who the fuck knows how long until I randomly stumble upon it?' Zay moved his thumb, and index finger up to the bridge of his nose and rubbed gently, slightly irritated by the Resonance Lens but decided to just let it go quickly as there's nothing he could do about it.
Rei walked over to Zay, "Did you see that message? It was something about finding a switch. Did you find something?"
Zay took a moment of silence, and then, he gave a nod. "I found one in this armor set." Zay extended his index finger by itself, pointing at a full body of golden armor setting on the wall.
Rei brought out his journal and his quill, placing his quill to a space near the bottom of where he had drawn the map. "What did it look like so we know what to look for?"
"It was more of a button than a lever or anything. It was blinking a dark red as well. I clicked it and the light stopped blinking. It became a steady dark red light afterwards."
Rei nodded, drew a small button and wrote beside it 'Blinking red light turns steady dark red once pressed.' and closed his journal. He placed it back into his Arbiter: Vault.
Naomi suddenly tripped over a rock, "O-Oh shit!" she said loudly before landing hard onto the ground, the impact causing a small jolt up her spine as Rei and Zay ran over to her.
She stood up before they got to her and looked over her shoulder, down her back and used her hands to wipe away dirt before a loud groaning sound echoed throughout the room of gear.
Ignoring it at first, Zay looked down at Naomi, "Are you alright?"
She nodded, more interested about that noise than her sudden fall. "I wasn't paying enough attention to the ground...' she admitted after a moment of silence.
Before Zay could reply, the loud groan echoed again, and again. The walls expanded before the gear was swallowed by the walls as a single staircase in the middle of the room opened as the floor opened in the middle.
A creaking noise of an old rocking chair was the best way to describe the sound but louder. It was also more ancient than any rocking chair as well. The three of them walked over to the middle, looked down into the staircase.
Zay looked over at Naomi and Rei as they both shook their head.
Rei took a step back, "I'll just be a watchman up here... to make sure nothing enters!" he said confidently with a smile.
Zay turned his head and glanced at Naomi again, shaking her head.
"I'm... afraid of the dark! I can't go down there. I'll stay up here to help Rei. We have to ensure there's no creatures getting to you!"
Zay's face turned to one of disappointment and sighed before Evershade manifested into his hands. He gripped it tightly, feeling his fingers against his palm from how tight and closely he was gripping the hilt of the sword and took a step down.
The stairs were actually of stable use. There was no creaking, no sudden shifts, almost as if someone had been there recently to renovate the stairs in a way.
As Zay was descending the stairs, out of nowhere, he thought of his brother, Renzo. 'I wonder... if he's still alive or not.' he repeated this thought a few times before shrugging it off, not wanting to think back on it as he had told himself he had gotten over it several times.
As he continued to walk down the stairs, he couldn't help but slightly feel the blood in his body circulating more as he clenched his left fist tightly, feeling anger from thinking about. When he witnessed Renzo's mouth moving, the words he was saying without speaking, 'I said not to trust everyone you know, during the game.'
