Chapter 242 - 242. Great Current

This whole learning to ice skate in the deep sea thing ended up taking a lot longer than Llyr thought it would. Although, to be honest, the undersea-walker had thought that everyone knew how to use a current before the surfacers started learning. It never occurred to him that the surfacers might not know what to do.

To be honest, he had mixed feelings about it. On the one hand, he was very excited about it, this difference, was opportunity to get to know a side of the surface world that he had never known before. On the other hand, he was very worried, because even the smallest undersea-walker knew that the Great Current was very dangerous for an inexperienced traveler.

However, now they did not have the freedom not to use the current to travel. So he had to find a middle ground. So he finally decided that even though it would take a little longer to reach the capital, he would still lead his guests along the outer and therefore slower parts of the Great Current.

When everyone was able to stand on their feet and could slide relatively confidently on the back of the water, Llyr announced that it was time to set off. It was true that the surface team was not very enthusiastic about the matter, but they did not object, so they set off towards the capital, but they had barely gone another half hour when the danovusclady stopped with a grimace.

"Well, I've had enough of this now. I'll meet you there." She announced as she simply jumped out of the current.

"She won't be able to catch up with us and she doesn't even know where to go!" Llyr shouted after the woman, and Wandi started to giggle.

"Don't worry for Alkekengi. She'll be there faster than us, she just has to follow the current." The boy remarked, which made the undersea-walker blink at him in confusion. "She is a danovus." Wandi shrugged.

"I think we've reached the point where I should ask what it that?" The undersea-walker ex-foreign minister scratched his head.

"Vampire." Rahul said simply, as if it were the most natural thing to do, but the undersea-walker still just blinked at them.

"Utauchi." Teveli tried, but his words made the team look at him in confusion. "What? That's what the Chá master and his people call them." The boy twisted his arms in front of him.

"I still don't know how they're different from us." Llyr was confused, and Wandi sighed heavily.

"They're faster, stronger, and more persistent than humans. However, what sets us apart most from the average is our thirst for blood." As the boy said this, he looked deeply into the undersea-walker's eyes. "Human blood." He finished the sentence, when the ex-foreign minister's eyes widened and his mouth opened.

"Homomulgus?" He asked the question, and a faint half-smile crossed Kamu's lips.

"Well, I think we found the undersea-walker term for the danovuses." He noted, but when Llyr slowly started to back away, he immediately came to his side and grabbed his arm. "Where, where, my undersea-walker?" He asked the question in an icy voice, and the man began to hesitate with a deathly face.

"But, but, he, he, me, me!" He pointed here and there, as if he himself could not properly gather his thoughts.

"You don't have to be afraid of us." Wandi sighed. "Alkekengi is already old enough that she rarely needs blood. And I can without it for weeks. And anyway, we both ate before we went down under the sea." Wandi shrugged.

"Of course you ate. Every danovus ate at dinner." Citar chuckled.

"Exactly." The Vojk boy nodded again as he smiled at the Bolacsuk boy.

"Well, now that we've cleared that up, we might as well move on. I don't feel like listening to Physalis whine about what's been taking us so far." Tele Tete grimaced as he rubbed the back of his head.

"Yes, let's go." Llyr immediately agreed and already pushed himself to get back in front of the group and lead them on. The surface team looked at each other, still giggling, before they followed the man. And so, with great difficulty, they finally reached the point where the undersea-walker ex-minister of foreign affairs led the team off the Great Current.

"We're here? I thought it would take longer." Benkó, who enjoyed this type of trip the most out of the team, said sadly.

"Not quite yet, but it's not proper for guests to come off the Great Current in the city." Llyr shrugged. "We have to walk from here. Fortunately, the gate is not far." The man noted, then looked around anxiously. "The... Homo..." He started, then shook himself and continued differently. "Where can the lady be?" He asked, while Wandi looked to one side.

"She ran around the city. She'll be here soon, no need to worry about her." The boy had barely finished his sentence when the colorful spot actually appeared, which when sharpened revealed Physalis Alkekengi, who stood in front of the group with a wide grin and hands on hips.

"Never seen a city this big before." The woman noted. "I guess I haven't been anywhere else besides Szelevu and Madüjawr though." She patted her chin with the index finger of her left hand. "About three times the size of Floating Barracks." She explained when she noticed the questioning looks the team gave her.

"That's really big." Kamu nodded approvingly.

"As if you didn't want to keep the Barracks small, Kamu. I remember how angry you were when they wanted to build the school next to the city." Ajtony laughed as he appeared next to his friend.

"Ah, so Floating Air became Floating Air because you didn't let them build it next to Floating Barracks?" Rahul asked with a cheeky grin on his lips, whereupon Ishán of the Immortal Mist just rolled his eyes.

"The city is already big enough. All that I needed was for the school to join it." The ghost-man grimaced. "If it were on the same level as the city, it would also be my responsibility to run the place. This way, all I have to do is give them permission when their crazy director hires someone." Kamu shrugged.

"You gave permission for them to hire me?" Tele Tete got worked up, but this only made Kamu look at him with a grimace, then sigh in recognition and shake his head.

"Oh, you can thank my deputy for that, not me. I only come back during the Barakk Cup." The ghost-man waved a hand, whereupon Tele Tete now turned to Ajtony angrily.

"Don't look at me like that, I'm just his sword spirit!" The poison-mixing ghost raised his hands defensively.

"Enough! I don't really care what you're arguing about here, but we have a bit more important business to attend to right now." Razvan stopped the argument before it got too heated.
