Adam headed downstairs shortly after and found his, much relieved, friends waiting for him. After a brief explanation of what the meeting was like the group decided that they would need to grab a hotel for the night since getting out of the insane roadways that led here would take long enough that they would get back to the Vault far too late. Besides, staying somewhere new was always a fun experience. Not like Adam had any money troubles at the moment.
However, speaking of money. The day was not yet over so he decided to make the most of his time by bringing in a large selection of his loot from his car and selling it off to vendors. It would double as a chance to see what the vendors were selling and a chance to lighten his load.
Overall the vendors appeared to have nothing especially new to him. Though, perhaps, he had been spoiled by Midway as Midway had nearly every vendor one could ask for. In reality The Tower had more than enough vendors for anything one might need in daily life. Of course that included guns.
Adam was pleased that the gun vendor was as excited to meet him as he was to buy Adam's wares. It seemed as though his reputation preceded him since the vendor was overjoyed to buy up his stock. Of course, this was not Midway. The Tower operated with only a minimum of trade. Unlike The Pier which thrived off of it, Midway which was a hub, and Naper which was a supplier. Ultimately this meant that the total capital available to the vendor was not as significant as Adam might have hoped. But with some conversation with the other vendors in the area Adam was able to offload over 8000 caps worth of guns. 8431 caps, to be precise. Even with this huge surplus of caps his APC was still full of even more he needed to offload. He had assumed, rightfully so, that making this much money would have done the majority of his stock since he made only double this when selling the stuff from the FRS. However, when he looted the FRS they filled their bags with a lot more than guns, namely food. So extra space was afforded for the non-fire arms they had to transport.
In effect, what Adam had now, he was realizing, was a transport full of incredibly valuable arms that would likely eclipse his trip to the FRS. Of course, there was no way to say for certain until he sold them all but he had a strong feeling about it.
Still the money was not all his. He had to split it a number of ways. Deccanus, Mira, and Percy all got a share, of course. However Eve, who helped with the cult fight, also deserved a cut despite not helping with looting the theater. After all that was not much more than manual labor, the effort was minimal compared to the actual combat. And before all that Adam wanted to take an additional 1000 caps and put it aside to hand over to Karla to add it to the Vault Coffers. So, 7431 caps, split 5 ways, was 1486.2. Easily handled thanks to his Pip-Boy's calculator. So with an extra cap added to his own pile, and the rest of the money safely stored away in the APC to be distributed to the recipients who were not here now, he now sat at a comfortable 6616 caps in total. With this kind of money he could buy the parts to rebuild another APC. Not that he wanted to, or even knew where another APC was, but it certainly crossed his mind. More than any of that though, he still had enough guns to sell he might see his total caps skyrocket. Certain things that had been out of reach until now might finally be in the cards.
Regardless, selling aside Adam did find a few things while he was working out all the logistics of offloading his numerous arms. While most of the vendors were pretty standard vendors one would find at a settlement their stocks were all different. Not at all like the big chain stores that he was so used to in the old world. Among the things he found was a Vault-Tec Bobblehead where the little guy seemed to be looking into the far distance, his hand covering his eyes from the sun as he gazed off. For 150 caps it was a steal. Next he found a new holotape game. Red Menace. Considering how much fun he had with the other two, despite how simple they were, for 100 caps, getting it was a no brainer.
Finally Adam decided to settle down for the night. He headed upstairs, where the only hotel was, and booked a room for the night for 150 caps. It seemed that, even though their population was much larger than Naper's they too only had one hotel for visitors to stay at they must really not get much foot traffic. However considering the hotel spanned multiple floors and each floor had a number of rooms it was not exactly a small operation.
Regardless, the room itself was nice. It had more than enough room, perhaps the most sizable hotel room he had stayed in since he woke up from the vault. Except, perhaps, the VIP room he stayed in at The Pier that Madame Aquamarine offered him to stay in. Though that felt like a bit of a different situation. Even his extremely expensive room he stayed in on the 3rd floor of Midway was smaller, though this room had nothing on the level of luxury that one did.
The one major complaint he had was that the bathroom had to be shared. Every room was set up in a way that 2 rooms connected to a small hallway where the bathroom was. This meant that Adam would have to share the bathroom with whoever was in the conjoined room. Luckily for him it seemed there was no one in a neighboring room so he had it all to himself, but even if he did have to share, sharing it with one person seemed like an okay compromise. Not least of all because he had no other choices.
However, after playing around for a while with his new game, Red Menace, he settled in on his, admittedly quite comfortable, bed and went to sleep. Ready to hit the road again tomorrow after a nice breakfast.
