Chapter 448: Impervious to Persuasion
The Old Kai seemed to have already anticipated that Uchiha Dali might say something like that.
So he immediately responded, "That's very simple. When the time comes, just avoid Lord Beerus and don't meet him face-to-face."
"Of course, the best solution would be to find a place where Lord Beerus absolutely wouldn't dare to make a move."
"So basically, you're telling me to hide?"
Uchiha Dali looked at the Old Kai with a faint, amused smile. The latter froze upon hearing that.
Kibito, however, didn't catch the tone behind Uchiha Dali's words. He stepped forward nervously and explained, "The only reason we're asking you not to fight Lord Beerus is to prevent the destruction of the universe."
"You've already met the Grand Zeno, haven't you, Lord Uchiha Dali? Then you must be fully aware of how powerful His Majesty is. If Universe 7 ends up being destroyed because of a battle between Lord Beerus and yourself, it will definitely enrage the Grand Zeno."
"At that point… our entire Universe 7 would be erased. And even you, Lord Uchiha Dali, might not be spared…"
Hearing this, the Old Kai, who had been about to speak again, fell silent.
Uchiha Dali, however, looked at Kibito with an intrigued expression.
"I don't think so. Even if the Grand Zeno does destroy Universe 7, that would be your problem. What does it have to do with me?"
"I'm not one of the gods of Universe 7."
"Don't forget — I came from a lower-dimensional realm."
"But, Lord Uchiha Dali…"
Kibito tried to continue, but the Old Kai quickly stopped him with an outstretched hand.
"Enough, Kibito." The Old Kai looked up seriously at Uchiha Dali. "It seems Lord Uchiha Dali has no intention of helping us."
"Lord Uchiha Dali?"
Kibito turned to him in disbelief, only to see Uchiha Dali's faint, mocking smile.
It was exactly as his ancestor had predicted — this god from a lower dimension truly had no intention of helping Universe 7 through its crisis.
Uchiha Dali didn't bother to explain.
In the future he had foreseen through his Observation Haki, Beerus had gone all out to kill him.
Although that scene hadn't yet happened in reality, it meant it would happen if he didn't interfere.
So why should he sympathize with Universe 7? Why should he help these two Supreme Kais prevent its erasure?
After all, Beerus, the very God of Destruction of this universe, had treated him as a mortal enemy — far from any sense of noble duty.
Seeing Uchiha Dali remain silent, the Old Kai decided to try once more.
"Lord Uchiha Dali, you are, after all, a god worthy of respect. Even though you are not a deity of Universe 7, please — for the sake of all the countless lives in this universe — try to avoid clashing with Lord Beerus."
"As long as you can agree to this request, I am willing to negotiate anything with you."
Uchiha Dali glanced up and down at the frail old man, whose wrinkled skin sagged all over his body, and shook his head.
"Instead of trying to persuade me, you'd be better off persuading Lord Beerus."
"He's the one itching for a fight — not me."
"You're getting things backward, Supreme Kai."
With that, he lost interest in continuing the conversation. Sitting back down, he resumed meditating.
Not only his true body and previously summoned clones, but now even more duplicates appeared — densely packed, numbering in the thousands.
All of them meditated together, exponentially accelerating Uchiha Dali's acquisition of divinity.
Soon, the familiar system notification sounded in his ears.
Seeing how completely unresponsive he was, the Old Kai could only turn to Kibito helplessly. Both of them were at a loss.
"In that case, we'll take our leave."
"Let's go, Kibito."
The Old Kai sighed quietly to himself and turned to leave, hands clasped behind his back.
Uchiha Dali knew he wouldn't just give up so easily — he'd probably turn back before walking too far.
Sure enough, after only a few steps, the Old Kai stopped and glanced back.
Uchiha Dali sat motionless, eyes closed, indifferent.
Seeing that, the Old Kai finally let out a long sigh, completely defeated. With a heavy heart, he left alongside Kibito.
"Ancestor, where should we go now?" Kibito asked.
"Where else? Back to the Supreme Kai Realm, of course. From here on out, all we can do is leave things to fate. Let's just hope Lord Beerus doesn't lose control…"
"Otherwise, Universe 7 really will be doomed."
"Ancestor, why don't we try talking to Lord Beerus directly?" Kibito suggested.
But the Old Kai was startled at the mere idea and quickly shook his head in alarm.
"No — absolutely not."
"If we go to Lord Beerus now and try to talk him out of fighting Uchiha Dali, it'll only make things worse!"
"Lord Beerus would never listen to us."
"In fact, we might even end up angering him…"
As he said that, memories of Beerus's past reckless rampages flooded his mind, sending a chill down his spine.
...
Meanwhile, in the midst of his training with Whis, Beerus suddenly stopped and raised a hand to scratch his ear.
"Lord Beerus, are you trying to slack off again?" Whis asked blandly, eyes half-lidded in exasperation.
Beerus froze mid-scratch and looked up. "No, I just felt a little tickle in my ear. Hey, Whis — you think someone's talking bad about me behind my back?"
"How would I know that, Lord Beerus?" Whis replied calmly. "However, it is time for a break. It's been an hour already. Why not call it a day?"
But Beerus ignored the suggestion, his golden eyes flickering thoughtfully.
"Whis, use your staff and check what that Uchiha Dali guy's doing right now."
"He's probably still in the Grand Zeno Realm."
Although Whis wasn't particularly eager, his own curiosity got the better of him. He waved his angel staff and tapped the crystal orb lightly.
At once, an image appeared — Uchiha Dali, seated cross-legged on a planet in the Grand Zeno Realm, deep in meditation.
Beerus leaned closer, tail swaying lazily behind him. "What's this guy doing? Taking a nap?"
"Obviously, he's meditating, Lord Beerus," Whis said evenly.
"Meditating? Why would that guy be meditating in the Grand Zeno Realm?"
Beerus frowned instantly, an uneasy feeling creeping up his spine.
