Medical Center

After chatting with the head of surgery, I unexpectedly learned that Caroline's Ellis Nursing Home has started gaining traction through word of mouth among its target crowd. Talk about a pleasant surprise! 🎉

Still, I headed to the ward first to check in on Adele. For an elderly woman who's lost her son, no amount of comfort from others can really ease the pain in her heart. But we can't just do nothing—every little bit helps, even if it's just a tiny drop. That's why these rituals and courtesies exist for a reason.

Take Sheldon, for example. After marrying Amy and heading off on their honeymoon, he was dead-set on sticking to his schedule, ready to "perform his husbandly duties" right on time to consummate the marriage. 😂 But Amy, totally out of character, wasn't having it. She was still jet-lagged, not in the mood, and told him, "Let's just do it tomorrow morning."

Sheldon, chill as ever, shrugged and said, "Fine, but then it'll have to wait until next Thursday—and it'll be shorter because we'll have a ton going on." Amy lost it. "What?! No way!" Sure, it's not like the old days when their "annual romp" was a once-a-year event you couldn't miss. But they're newlyweds now! She was hoping to make up for all those times they couldn't just go with the flow.

Earlier, she'd just been playing coy, thinking, Hey, we're married now—Sheldon's not the same guy who used to dodge anything physical. So, she pulled a classic Penny move, trying that "withhold to get your way" tactic women sometimes use on men, hoping to nudge Sheldon into giving in. Big mistake. She forgot how many years it took her to snag this limited-edition husband. Miss this chance, and there's no next stop on this train! 🚂

So, yeah, their honeymoon turned into a little spat. Afterward, Sheldon explained himself, totally exasperated. He was just trying to be a good husband! Intimacy is a key part of that, but it's also his weak spot. He worried that without a schedule, he'd straight-up forget about it. For him, it's no big deal—he loves Amy purely for who she is, not the bedroom stuff.

And it's not like he can't—oh no, judging by the blissed-out grin Amy had that one time, he's got some natural talent! 😏 He doesn't hate it either; he actually enjoys it. But that's where it ends. Compared to scientific breakthroughs, video games, or comic books, rolling around with his wife just doesn't rank as high.

Amy, though? She's not on the same page. Without that schedule to keep things official, if he forgets, she'll get mad. Over time, she might grow distant, maybe even run off to some buff dockworker for comfort. Back in the day, Sheldon wouldn't have cared—he'd have happily driven her to the docks himself! But now that she's "picked his flower," he's a wilted bloom, no longer the pure-hearted monk he once was. Jealousy and sadness hit him too. So, the schedule? Non-negotiable.

Eventually, they compromised. Sheldon even coded an algorithm to auto-generate a pseudo-random intimacy schedule to keep Amy's romantic side happy. It's kinda like the New Year rituals from my past life—skip those "tedious" traditions, and the whole vibe just fades away. It's not something you can brush off with "whatever, it's all the same."

That's why I stuck to social etiquette and went to console Adele, despite her grief. Afterward, I did rounds with the four little ones until noon. Finally, I had a minute to call Caroline and share the good news.

"You heard too?" Caroline chirped over the phone, clearly thrilled. "Lately, tons of people have been stopping by to check the place out—mostly wealthy folks with no kids." In this American TV drama world, with its quirky values, that's a pretty common crowd.

"Heh," I laughed, genuinely happy for her. I know she's not just chasing money—she's got her heart in the right place. More rich folks mean more resources for Ellis Nursing Home. With that, she can use their wealth to help more vulnerable elderly, kids, and women in need. Of course, she's fair to everyone—she'd never take their money and then turn around and judge them for it.

"Looks like your reputation's really taking off!" I said with a grin. "Even our director's planning to move into your nursing home once he can't take care of himself anymore." But I couldn't help adding a little warning: "Just don't expand too fast without enough staff. Otherwise, this good thing could turn sour."

"I know," Caroline replied, sounding level-headed. "Ellis Nursing Home can't outgrow society itself. Just look at all those other care facilities out there—it's a daily wake-up call for me. Or, as you'd say, a chance to 'reflect on myself three times a day.' I started this because I couldn't stand what I saw in those places. I won't let my dream home turn into something I'd hate. Right now, I'm not even focused on expanding—I'm all about training people. For every trustworthy person I find, I grow a little. Two, and I grow a bit more. But until I've got enough reliable hands, I'm not budging. Otherwise, I'd just be handing these defenseless people over to wolves. If I mess up more than I fix, what's the point?"

"Exactly," I said, relieved she's still so grounded and true to her roots. "If you ever need help, you have to let me know!"

"I will," she laughed. "You've already done so much." Then, with real sincerity, she added, "Adam, Ellis Nursing Home isn't just mine—it's yours too. We're kindred spirits, and this is our shared dream. I'll protect it with everything I've got." Early on, if I hadn't kept donating, her little "inheritance" wouldn't have covered the constant expenses, let alone let it grow to this point.

"It's a good deed—a big one," I said, chuckling. "You know I love doing stuff like this."

"I know," Caroline sighed. "Otherwise, why would a billionaire like you work so hard as a doctor?"

"Heh," I laughed again. Sure, it's kinda the system's doing, but after everything—saving lives, doing good on the side—it really does make me happy. 😊

"Oh, right!" Caroline piped up. "There is one thing you could help with. Those people you recommended? They're great—tons of potential. Keep an eye out for more like them for me, okay?"

"Of course!" I agreed instantly, then got curious. "How're they doing over there?"
