Chapter 364 - Chapter 364: The Closed Goldenrod Gym

Silas let out a long breath.

Although Granny Yuanqing was extremely unreliable, at least the quality of her materials was solid.

At this rate, Ralts' Psychic power would soon meet the requirements to evolve into Kirlia.

Simply put, it wasn't just about reaching the required level, other aspects such as fine control also had to meet Silas' expectations.

It could only be said that while powerful mental energy made Psychic-type Pokémon far stronger than many other types, it also placed a significant burden on their bodies.

Abra in its childhood stage was the best example.

To reduce that burden, aside from physical training, the only option was to constantly refine one's control over mental power.

The former wasn't very realistic for Psychic-type Pokémon, which generally weren't suited for close combat. So in practice, the only real solution was the latter.

Even so, the burden could never be completely eliminated.

"I'll need to thank Sabrina sometime."

Silas watched Ralts training diligently and thought to himself.

If not for Sabrina's help, he would never have been able to obtain this Psychic training method from Granny Yuanqing.

This wasn't something he could accomplish through Zero alone.

After all, he himself didn't possess psychic power, nor could he meditate.

But soon, Silas put the matter out of his mind.

He wouldn't be seeing Sabrina anytime soon anyway. He'd deal with it later.

He began supervising each Pokémon as they completed their daily training.

It wasn't until after eleven at night that Silas and his Pokémon dragged their exhausted bodies back to the room.

And even then, it wasn't over.

Despite being completely drained, as a Trainer, he still had to give each Pokémon a post-training massage.

Otherwise, if physical issues developed from overtraining, it would be too late for regrets.

Once everything was finished, Silas collapsed onto the bed without any strength left to resist sleep.

He quickly fell into a deep slumber.

"Mmm…"

Under the glare of the morning sunlight, Silas groggily opened his eyes.

"So bright."

He muttered instinctively.

He had fallen asleep too suddenly the night before and forgotten to close the curtains.

Rubbing his face, he decided not to go back to sleep since he was already awake.

Walking to the window and looking out at the bustling streets of Goldenrod City, he stretched lazily.

So much for Goldenrod's fast-paced lifestyle. This seemed perfectly manageable.

As usual, he went to the bathroom first, showered, and completed his morning routine.

Fifteen minutes later, Silas had changed into a fresh set of clothes.

"Ral~"

Ralts sat on the sofa and greeted him.

"Good morning."

Silas replied with a piece of bread in his mouth and a glass of milk in hand.

"Remember to balance work and rest. Don't overtrain your Psychic power."

He gave a warning.

This little one was working a bit too hard.

The lingering Psychic fluctuations around it clearly sent one message to the others—

Come on, let's all grind harder together.

Lying on the floor, Pidgeot looked like it wanted to die.

Why were these newly joined little ones each more hardworking than the last?

Silas smacked its head lightly.

He was relatively tolerant toward Pidgeot, after all, it had been with him the longest.

But looking at that extra fat…

Silas almost couldn't bear to look.

He knew Pidgeot had recently been trying to break through toward Elite-level, but that didn't mean it should indulge itself like this.

Pidgeot understood the meaning in Silas' gaze.

It guiltily turned its head away.

Could it really be blamed?

If anyone was at fault, it was the Trainer's cooking being too delicious.

During this period, it had only had three extra meals outside.

"Over the next week, your training load increases by one-third. My decision."

Silas took a sip of milk and glared viciously at Pidgeot.

Pidgeot raised its head dismissively.

As if I'd be afraid. It's just… just one-third more??

Then it realized something was wrong.

"Pidge—?!"

Wasn't it usually one-tenth before?

It quickly questioned him.

"Oh, special circumstances. You need to work harder."

Silas smiled kindly.

"Ampharos, don't break the plug."

Before Pidgeot could continue, Silas called out without turning around.

Ampharos quickly hid the plug it was playing with behind its back.

"Serperior, don't grow so many flowers in my room for no reason;

Blaziken, those flowers aren't edible;

Togekiss, stop blowing wind everywhere—achoo!"

In short, the morning could only be described as utter chaos.

After finishing breakfast and cleaning up the messy room, Silas left the hotel.

Using the skywalk system that connected all of Goldenrod City, he quickly arrived at the Goldenrod Gym.

It was a red domed building, resembling an oversized tent.

The huge letters "GYM" were posted in the center, plainly stating its purpose.

Because of Goldenrod City's special status, the Goldenrod Gym used the rare method of on-site registration for challenges.

This was likely related to the Gym Leader Whitney's work.

Her main profession was entertainer, her side job was ranch owner, and her hobby was being a Gym Leader.

With those three combined, it was hard to find anyone quite like her

If online reservations were allowed, whether male Trainers or female Trainers, they would probably crowd the Goldenrod Gym to the point of bursting.

But—

Silas looked at the tightly shut doors of the Gym in front of him.

A sign hung on the door.

Written in large letters were the words—

"On Vacation."

Underneath was an especially cute little emoticon.

What was this? Had the Goldenrod Gym started taking lessons from the Viridian Gym and the Cinnabar Gym?

Silas felt a little depressed.

It was true that he wasn't planning to leave Goldenrod City anytime soon, but at the same time, he had no idea how long Whitney planned to stay on vacation.

Even though the Johto League and the Kanto League had different regulations regarding Gym closures, the penalties were so minor that Whitney probably wouldn't even care.

It seemed that if it really came down to it, he would have no choice but to challenge a different Gym.

"Hey, hey, I'm on my way, I'm on my way! Mary, stop rushing me! I already left, okay~"

Speak of the devil.

Just as Silas was about to leave, a beautiful girl with red hair, wearing a red-and-white top and extremely short shorts, walked out of the Goldenrod Gym while talking on the phone.

This was Whitney.

As one of the well-known entertainers in the Pokémon world, Silas naturally recognized her.

"Ah, sorry! Looks like there's a challenger here. I'll have to explain things first."

After noticing Silas, Whitney quickly found an excuse and hung up the phone.

"Sorry about this! I have something to do at Goldenrod Radio Tower today. The Gym will reopen as normal tomorrow."

She smiled brightly as she spoke.

"It's fine, it's fine. I'll come back tomorrow."

Silas replied quickly.

Whitney's temperament was unexpectedly good, far better than he had imagined.

"Oh? You are…"
