Chapter 493 - Chapter 493: The Attack!

Grindelwald also noticed the equipment Tom was wearing.

There was the coat made from some unknown material, along with the watch gleaming with alchemical light on his wrist.

Without a doubt, these were all products made by Wade.

Because Nagini, who was standing nearby, was wearing almost the exact same set.

Experience had taught Grindelwald that anything Wade produced was usually quite good, and he had no reason to doubt this set either.

So even though he still did not know exactly what the equipment did, he was already considering doing business with Wade and getting a set for his own people.

But with Dumbledore present, he had no intention of discussing business with Wade in front of the old man. Otherwise, Dumbledore would probably accuse him of having ulterior motives again.

Ah! Right. I gotta use Dumbledore's way of doing things!

Which meant he should conduct the deal with Wade in the name of the Ministry.

This was not for himself.

This was for the personal safety of all those hardworking Aurors!

Doing business with Wade was about equipping the Aurors and protecting their lives. Yes, this had absolutely nothing to do with him personally.

Having made up his mind, Grindelwald smiled at Wade before leading the way out through the door without another word.

Wade was left slightly confused by Grindelwald's strange smile and did not know what to make of it.

"Wade, be careful. He must be plotting something against you!" Nagini warned vigilantly.

She both feared and hated Grindelwald, so she was extremely wary of everything he said and did.

"Don't worry." Wade reassured her. "Your teacher is here. I won't suffer any losses."

Miravia gave Wade a puzzled look.

You're not afraid of Grindelwald in the first place. Why are you bringing me into this?

But Miravia had no idea just how impressive she seemed in Nagini's eyes.

So after hearing Wade say that, Nagini immediately relaxed considerably.

"Make sure you keep the equipment I gave you on," Wade reminded her.

Nagini nodded.

Like Tom, she still did not have much real combat experience, so making thorough preparations was absolutely necessary.

As for Wade himself?

He had never taken his equipment off in the first place.

...

At first glance, this looked like nothing more than an ordinary Muggle town, quiet and unremarkable.

Without reliable intelligence, it would have been extremely difficult to discover that the Scourers were hiding in a place like this.

It was already late at night, and the surroundings were silent, with no lights in most of the windows.

No one knew whether the Muggles living in the nearby houses had been temporarily evacuated using Muggle-Repelling Charms or were simply sleeping.

Then thick fog suddenly began rising through the town, thick enough to hide whatever was moving inside it.

Clearly, Grindelwald's people had created it, because the fog only covered the area occupied by the Scourers and nowhere else.

Grindelwald was walking across the open ground when he suddenly raised a hand.

Everyone immediately stopped.

"The Confundus Charm is in effect," one Alliance member reported.

"Good to hear."

A short while later, another Alliance member hurried over.

"The Anti-Apparition wards are fully prepared. They can be activated at any time."

"Activate them now," Grindelwald said.

The wizard nodded, raised his wand, and fired a red spell into the sky.

It exploded overhead like a firework.

The next second, Wade felt the pores across his body tighten slightly.

Clearly, the Anti-Apparition wards had been activated.

He was certain that any wizard with enough ability would be able to sense the change.

Sure enough, noises quickly began coming from the buildings in the distance.

But the fog there was so thick that they could not see what was happening inside.

Likewise, the people inside would have difficulty seeing anyone outside.

At that moment, flames suddenly erupted from the houses surrounding the Scourers' settlement in the distance.

The Alliance's attack had clearly begun.

The fire spread rapidly and was already approaching the Scourers' occupied area.

Cries of alarm began echoing from within the fog.

Grindelwald remained where he was, staring intently into the distance.

Dumbledore frowned.

"Grindelwald, those houses..."

"The Muggles inside were quietly evacuated long ago. Burning the houses won't hurt anyone. As for the damaged buildings, cleanup teams will repair them with Reparo afterward," Grindelwald interrupted, explaining before Dumbledore could finish.

He knew Dumbledore far too well.

If he did not explain these things clearly, the first person to start fighting him would probably be Dumbledore himself.

Watching the flames spread rapidly across the opposite side, Grindelwald was actually somewhat dissatisfied.

If Dumbledore had not suddenly appeared tonight, he would not have used ordinary fire.

He would have used Fiendfyre.

Once Fiendfyre was released, the Scourers would have no choice but to flee toward the only remaining opening.

Ordinary flames, however, were much slower to take effect than he would have liked.

Still, the fire had been deliberately started by wizards, making it extremely difficult for those inside to extinguish.

So before long, a group of wizards began running out from the buildings that were nearly surrounded by flames.

But the moment they emerged from the thick fog, they froze.

Because Grindelwald was standing directly in their path with a group of murderous-looking Alliance members dressed in Auror uniforms.

"Huh? Aren't there a little too many of them?" Wade asked in surprise.

Many people present were thinking the same thing.

Originally, they had assumed the Scourers numbered no more than fifty.

But in only a few minutes, more than a hundred wizards had already poured continuously out of the fog.

Every one of them was holding a wand, and none of them looked ready to surrender.

These people were definitely not Muggles.

"Things are getting interesting..." A faint smile appeared on Grindelwald's face.
