The Thestral carriage once again soared through the skies.
Andrews dutifully sat in the driver's seat, following the direction indicated by the compass at full speed.
By now, he was completely convinced by his new boss.
In terms of speed, the Thestral carriage was far slower than a broom, but fortunately, they were already close to their destination.
By the time night fell, Andrews noticed the compass needle suddenly shifting direction. That could only mean one thing. They had arrived.
He quickly turned toward the carriage and shouted, "Boss, I think we're here."
Wade opened the carriage door and stepped directly onto the driver's seat before looking down toward the ground.
But it was already night, and much of the terrain below was difficult to see clearly.
Wade sensed the Obscurus for a moment, then pointed in one direction. "Land over there."
Soon, the Thestral carriage descended onto a hilltop.
Wade jumped down from the carriage and casually handed the watch back to Andrews.
He then put on a new one himself. Wade had personally assembled it during the journey, and now it was finally ready to be put to use.
"So… boss, can you tell me now? What exactly did you come here to do?" Andrews asked while disguising the carriage.
"I came to save someone. I only know he's encountered trouble, but I still don't know exactly what kind of trouble," Wade replied.
"Is it dangerous?"
"It could be completely safe, or it could be extremely dangerous." Wade put away his Beech wand and took out the Elder Wand instead.
"So you came here alone without even knowing the situation?" Andrews asked in surprise.
From his perspective, Wade's background was obviously extraordinary. Someone of that status should not have been venturing into danger alone. Perhaps there were hidden protectors nearby?
Andrews instinctively glanced around, but the dark forest contained nothing except swaying shadows. Forget people, there was not even a ghost in sight.
"You stay here and watch the carriage while I go investigate," Wade said as he drank a Nightingale Potion that granted night vision, followed by an Agility Potion that enhanced reaction speed.
Wade's reflexes had already been enhanced before, and after drinking the potion…
At this moment, he felt unbelievably powerful.
"Boss, let me come with you. Otherwise, I won't feel right taking this salary," Andrews said.
"Then come along." Wade did not really mind. Having another person as support was fine.
As he spoke, he handed the Nightingale Potion and the Agility Potion over to Andrews.
Andrews copied Wade and drank both potions.
"Oh… this stuff is incredible!" Andrews stared in amazement at the suddenly crystal-clear world before him.
He had seen Nightingale Potion before, but it was extremely expensive. He had never been willing to use it himself.
And he quickly felt the effects of the Agility Potion as well.
Enhanced reaction speed? That could play a huge role in battle.
He had never seen a potion like this before. It was probably another treasured secret of his boss's family.
Wade and Andrews silently moved through the forest. Thanks to the Nightingale Potion, they did not even need light.
Soon, the two arrived at the edge of a cliff.
Wade Apparated to the opposite side, and Andrews quickly followed behind him.
Suddenly, Wade stopped and looked toward the steep terrain ahead.
"Oh, this stretch won't be easy to cross," Andrews remarked.
"Mr. Ivanov, take this." Wade casually pulled out a broom and handed it to him.
"Oh… boss, just how much can you fit in those pockets of yours?" Andrews accepted the broom.
Wade replied, "All I can say is that the Undetectable Extension Charm is a truly magnificent spell…"
In the next moment, Wade suddenly lifted into the air and glided downward.
Andrews was dumbfounded.
He had seen it clearly. Wade was not using a broom at all. He was flying on his own.
"Ah… I think I've gone completely mad…" Andrews hurriedly mounted the broom and chased after him.
…
Ten minutes later, the two stopped in front of an unremarkable hill.
Looking at the hill before him, Andrews could not see anything unusual, yet he inexplicably felt a chilling sense of unease coming from it.
Wade's expression turned grave, because in his eyes, the magic surrounding the hill was filled with an extremely strange aura.
And the Obscurus garment on Slytherin was indicating that his location was inside this hill.
"Hey! Boss, this looks like an ancient tomb!"
Andrews could not see the magic, so while Wade was still deep in thought, he had already started investigating the surroundings.
At that moment, he was standing beside a decayed stone block and shouting loudly.
Wade walked over and examined the ruined stone. It seemed to have once been a statue.
"How do you know this is a tomb?"
"When I was doing my old jobs, I explored quite a few ruins… a lot of ancient tombs have statues in this style outside them. Usually some kind of magical creature you can't even identify anymore," Andrews said awkwardly.
Clearly, his former "work" had included more than smuggling and poaching. Grave robbing had probably been part of it too.
Though in the wizarding world, that was actually considered the least serious offense among them.
"Northern Europe… ancient tomb…" Wade muttered before suddenly recalling the strange tomb described in Slytherin's manuscripts.
After returning from that tomb, Slytherin had become a hunched old man.
"Oh shiiii… that old man didn't go back in there again, did he?! He suffered terribly even at the peak of his strength! He's half-crippled now, and he still dared to enter? Didn't he write in his manuscripts that he'd never go back?" Wade rubbed his forehead helplessly. "How am I supposed to rescue him now? I don't want to come out looking like a little old man."
"The entrance is over there. Are we going in?" Andrews pointed toward a half-open stone door nearby.
"No… we're not going in." As he spoke, Wade released the Obscurus.
The Obscurus instantly dispersed into black mist and hovered before him.
"W-what? An Obscurus? You're… you're an Obscurial?" Andrews was utterly shocked.
He had once been an outstanding Auror, so he was naturally familiar with dark creatures like Obscuruses.
"I'm not an Obscurial. I merely happened to save one, then removed the Obscurus from his body." As Wade spoke, he used Nightmare Magic to merge part of his consciousness into the Obscurus's awareness. The Obscurus immediately began moving.
Andrews rubbed his numb face.
Alright. An Obscurial, supposedly beyond saving, had been cured by his boss. And now he could even control the extracted Obscurus.
The more he saw of Wade's absurd abilities, the more confidence Andrews regained in his own future.
At that moment, Wade carefully controlled the Obscurus and sent it drifting toward the doorway.
