- 101 years after the apocalypse -
The room was small, just part of a medium size wooden cabin, The walls were thick, One window showed the plains outside that stretched for miles, There was one small closet at the right side of the room. And one truckle bed that didn't quite fit the modest look of the room.
"Push... Push..." The head of the baby was already visible "Ngh!!! where is my husband?!" her hand was clenching harshly leaving a red mark on her palm, tears in her eyes. "I want my husband! Now!"
A man entered the small birthing room in a hurry, panting heavily. "I ran here the moment I heard... my love..." he rushed to the woman's side and took her hand squeezing it tightly.
"You fucking... fuck!!! idiot," the woman said as tears slowly fell down her cheeks. She turned her face to the side and nuzzled into his forearm. "Tich... it hurts... I cant..."
"Just a little more young lady... The baby is almost out!" The nurse said in a hurried yet comforting tone. "What a good looking baby, just a little push... can you do it for me? Kassandra."
The woman clenched tighter to the man's hand, her face buried in him. "Nghh!!!!!"
The nurse let out a content sigh, she severed the umbilical cord and cleaned the baby. "You have a boy... young Lady, little Tich" she said with a big smile and chuckled. "Here hold it..." she reached to hand the baby to Kassandra.
"No... wait... my hands too shaky... Tich hold him" Kassandra said. Panting heavily still with her face buried in Tich's hand. She gave a little peck to his forearm and pulled her face away. "Of course my love... you did so good" he said, caressing her cheek gently, then carefully he took the baby into his arms and cradled him.
"Oho... you rascal, I didn't think the little Tich i saw growing up would know how to hold a baby" The nurse said, laughing with a smile and gave Tich a squeeze to his shoulder. "He still crying... what do we do?" he said, concern creeping into his voice as he gently rocked the baby.
"Ugh... just give him to me" Kassandra burst out... reaching to the take the baby. "But You said your hands are shaking..." he said, his expression confused but he carefully put the baby into her arms and turned around. "Lily, thank you... truly... I would have invited you to stay, but my wife and I want to spend some time alone with our new child... my new boy," he said with a wide smile and a proud chuckle, rubbing his wife's hair.
"Dont mind me... you rascal, I just hope this boy would be like you." Lily said, with one eyebrow raised and a chuckle. "So you would suffer as I did with ya. Ya boy.." she laughed holding her stomach and grinned, Then she walked to Kassandra and kissed her forehead. "Good job Kassie. you were great but dont coddle him like you coddle your husband..." Lily said, she gave one last touch to Kassandra's forearm and left the room.
- Days later -
Kassandra was sitting on a small chair, Her slender yet calloused hands cradle the baby's head. "My little boy..." she said, With a tone so soft it was barely audible, she could not stop herself from giggling. "Hmm... i decide, Your name would be Cham Cham..." she said with a wide smile and gave a little kiss to Cham Cham's forehead. "So your name would always bring you joy... my little rascal."
Footsteps could be heard advancing toward the small bedroom Kassandra in. "Kassie, I'm back. I brought that cake you like... cost a bit but you deserve it my love." Tich said as he stood at the entrance of the room. He was tall and rough-looking, though his brown eyes and brown hair held a carefree persona that right there brought a smile to Kassie. "Thank you baby... sit with me, Oh and his name is Cham Cham no arguing" she said with a fake pout giggling, as she kept cradling Cham Cham in her arms.
Tich moved, he took another small chair and sat right beside her, Their thighs touching. "Hmm. You decides OUR baby's name without me..." he said with a teasing edge as he leaned down and kissed Cham Cham's forehead. "Hmph... did YOU carry him for 9 months?" she said with a pout and an annoyed tone though she leaned to him slightly. "You right... my bad Kassie no need to get angry" he said though a content smile on his face and a warm quiet chuckle could be heard. He wrapped his right arm around her, pulling her closer between their chairs, and kissed her cheek.
"Sor...sorry... if you dont like it..." she said, her tone softer more vulnerable, she turned her face to look at him and nuzzled to his cheek. "I like it... it so he would always bring joy right? I remember you telling me about this name few months ago" he said grinning and adjust her slightly to sit on his lap, his hands wrapped slowly around her belly.
"Okay now focus, forget these embarrassing things, I want to make a little song for Cham Cham" she said with her own grin, as her body leaned backwards to his embrace. "Something he can remember even at this age And that we can sing him every night..." she kept rocking Cham Cham back and forth as she and Tich spoke. "A song? I love it. Go on then" he said, he let his head rest on her left shoulder his eyes on Cham Cham.
"Hmm lets see... I have an idea" she took a deep breath, Then slowly let Cham Cham rest more on her lap and brought one finger to his tiny hand to hold. "Little rascal, little boy..." her tone was soft... her black jet like hair covering a bit of her honey like eyes. "Holding his mom's hand... Kissing his mom's hand." she turned and look at Tich a signal. "Hmm. Little rascal, little boy" he sang lightly, though his tone rougher, his trimmed beard scrapping against Kassie's bare shoulder. "Playing with his dad... Holding his dad's hand" he brought his own finger to Cham Cham's.
"Now together baby..." she said, tears welling in her eyes. "Little boy..." her tone started to get a bit strained. "Little rascal" He said, his eyes watery as well... he kissed Kassie cheek and his wrapped hands around her tightened. Then together they sang. "Sitting with his family... Papa Mama family... Oi little rascal, little boy..." thy stayed like this for long time, just wrapped together and singing to Cham Cham.
