Mr. Carl, what should we do next? Jango asked.
How to do it? Of course, we launch a sneak attack on that guy Akainu and sink his warship! Carl replied.
Understood! Leave this exciting task to me! Jango said, clearly thrilled by the order. He immediately commanded the hypnotized sailors to load the cannons and aim all of them at Akainu's vessel.
At that moment, Akainu was concentrating on unleashing his Meteor Volcano technique and never considered that he might be under threat. Suddenly, the sound of heavy gunfire echoed from the rear. Akainu was initially surprised, wondering why the rear warships were firing when the Whitebeard Pirates were well out of range. The next second, his own warship lurched violently. Looking back, he saw that the main mast had been blown off. Akainu was stunned.
What is going on? Who attacked us? Akainu demanded. He could not believe his own fleet would attack him, especially his own flagship.
Marshal, it is the rear warship... our own ship, the commander replied hesitantly.
Our own ship? How is that possible? Do not kid with me! Akainu shouted. He hurried to the stern and saw the small warship nearby firing again. At the bow stood two figures. Even though they wore Marine uniforms, Akainu recognized them instantly.
Bastard Carl! And that is Jango, the hypnosis expert from the Straw Hat crew. I see, those two bastards stole our ship, hypnotized the sailors, and now they are using it to ambush us! How daring! Akainu growled.
Usually, when surrounded by Marines, pirates would try to flee. Carl, however, had chosen a path that caught Akainu completely off guard. Akainu knew he might not catch the Straw Hats in the air, but he was determined to capture Carl.
Turn the bow immediately and kill Carl first! Akainu ordered.
Um, Marshal, that is not possible, the commander replied.
What is the matter? Tell me! If you delay this pursuit, I will dismiss you! Akainu threatened.
Marshal, the bottom of the ship was blown open, and the mast is gone. We cannot catch up! the soldier explained. Akainu's face turned bright red with rage, though he had only himself to blame for his impatience.
Then let us take another ship! Akainu started, but before he could finish, the nearby warships were attacked again. A pirate ship had arrived from the outside—it was Vista's team, who had been tasked with intercepting the Marines. In the blink of an eye, two or three surrounding warships were either blown apart or cut in half by Vista's blades.
Whitebeard! Carl! I really have you to thank for this, Akainu roared. He realized that Whitebeard had not just asked Vista to intercept them at the start; he had kept a team roaming outside the encirclement to provide support. Vista's raid tore a hole in the blockade, allowing the Whitebeard Pirates to escape. It was a cunning plan by the old pirate. As for Carl, his temporary strike had successfully disabled the Marshal's flagship, preventing pursuit and shattering the Marine siege.
Ah! Bastard Carl! I am irreconcilable with you! You wait, one day I will kill you with my own hands! Akainu screamed at him.
Hahaha! Then I will wait for you to come! Akainu, we will meet again! Carl laughed, waving goodbye while signaling the Straw Hats to retreat. He also instructed Jango to steer the stolen warship to follow the Moby Dick.
Whitebeard saw the maneuver and was overjoyed. Koo la la la! Carl boy, you are driving that Akainu guy mad!
It is better he dies of anger; it saves us a lot of trouble, Carl replied with a shrug.
The two ships sailed away side by side, leaving Akainu to watch helplessly. As for the Straw Hats, they had already sped off after receiving Carl's signal, their speed making them appear like small ants in the sky. Sabo, seeing the breakthrough was successful, flew into the clouds, leaving Fujitora behind. The Big Mom Pirates also took the opportunity to flee, not bothering to taunt the Marines.
The Blackbeard Pirates suffered the most. They were chased by Kizaru, and while the core members survived, most of their subordinates were wiped out. They also lost the giant San Juan Wolf, a traumatic blow for Blackbeard. Neither Blackbeard nor Big Mom managed to gain an advantage in the conflict.
The Straw Hats, conversely, proved their strength by fighting against two major groups and winning. Their reputation as the most prominent Emperors of the Sea was now solidified. Akainu, however, faced a miserable outcome. Most of the Marine forces had been deployed to wipe out the pirate emperors, but they had gained almost nothing. They lost numerous warships and failed to capture or kill any of the high-profile pirates. Akainu now faced potential discipline for failing to follow the orders of Commander Kong. It was a complete disaster.
