'Ray, are you going with me?'
I looked at her in confusion because I didn't know where we were supposed to go.
"Hey girl! Class is over, right? So, what, are you just going to stay there in your seat forever? It's not going anywhere, so come on, let's go eat—I'm already hungry."
Her long dialogue… I didn't even notice that class had already ended. Too many things were running through my mind.
Just like Jane said, we went to the cafeteria. Same as before, we went back to our usual spot where we always sit.
"What do you want? I'll order for you!"
"Just the same as yours, bestie!"
She answered, so I stood up and ordered our food. The line wasn't that long anyway, so I just volunteered to get it since she also looked busy fixing our project.
She's our leader, after all—hehe!
"Hey! Hi!"
And now Ashter is in front of me, smiling like an idiot!
He's with the same guy he said was his only friend.
"Hi," I replied briefly. I wasn't in the mood to exchange pleasantries with him. Besides, it was my turn to order.
"Hi! Two orders of carbonara and two bottles of water, please. Thanks!"
"LET GO, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" I was just about to get my order when I heard Jane shout. I quickly turned to where I left her earlier, and there she was—being hit by Jaime.
"OUCH! WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM?" Jane shouted again while holding Jaime's hand, which was pulling her hair.
I didn't even get my change anymore. I rushed over to Jane and Jaime, along with her group.
"You're such a flirt, aren't you?"
"What are you even talking about?"
"I said you're a flirt!"
I shifted my gaze between the two of them, still not understanding what was happening. Jaime kept pulling Jane's hair. Then I noticed one of Jaime's companions slowly raising a baseball bat—like she was about to swing it at Jane. In a blink, I was already in front of her, my hand gripping her wrist before she could bring it down.
'What do you think you're doing?'
"What do you think you're doing?" I asked her while gripping her wrist tightly. I could see the shock on her face because in just a split second, I was already standing right in front of her. That was also enough to make Jaime stop pulling Jane's hair. I snatched the baseball bat from her hand and swung it through the air as I walked toward Jaime.
I approached Jaime, and I could feel the entire cafeteria's attention shift onto me. Jaime was known as a brat—well, what do you expect? She's the daughter of the school's owner, so she acts like she owns the place. Honestly, it's nowhere near her looks. If you ask me what she looks like… well, she kind of looks like a snout that grew a face. Harsh, right? But that's just how she looks.
"Why did you do that?" I asked her calmly.
You could hear the murmurs of the other students around us, but I didn't care anymore—whoever this "Poncio Pilato" in front of me thinks she is, it's time to put an end to her acting like she owns everything here. She even raised an eyebrow at me before answering.
"Eh why are you interfering? You weren't even the one whose hair got pulled!"
"Then why are you shouting? Did I shout at you? Huh?" I shot back at her. She's so loud it's like her mouth has a microphone! To be honest, I even took a step back from how she answered earlier—she was that loud. Spit was flying too—shapsss!!!
"Tss! So what, you're acting like a hero now? That kind of thing suits your best friend anyway—she's way too flirtatious."
I looked at Jane with questioning eyes. She's clearly hiding something from me. Tsk. What has she done now? I wouldn't even be surprised if, in a day or two, I end up rushing her to the hospital.
and this snout-face like creature, what did she say? it suits Jaime? Ha! let's see.
"Ah, so that's how it is!! So, this thing I'm about to do suits you too, huh?" I said it to her, raising the baseball bat I took from her companion, ready to swing it at her—but I stopped it just before it could land. No one moved. Everyone froze at what I did. Well, I'm only threatening the daughter of the school owner right now!!
"RAYLA!"
Jane suddenly rushed closer to me in shock at what I did. She was right behind me, holding onto my arm tightly, while I kept staring at Jaime—who now looked like all the color had drained from her face.
"Oh my!"
"She's in trouble now!"
"For sure, she's getting kicked out!"
Some of the whisper you can hear from the crowd, but I didn't care anymore. I handed the baseball bat back to her—why? I was just returning it. Tsk. She acts all tough, but she's actually a coward too.
"Oh! Here, this is yours, right? I'm giving it back," I said while handing it to her. She seemed to snap back to reality because of what I said—her eyebrows furrowed. Oh no… she looks like a piglet now. Shapsss!!
"How dare you! Who do you think you are to do that, huh?" she shouted at me, furious. I just looked at her, then turned my back.
"I'm Rayla. Nice to meet you too," I replied casually as I walked away from them.
"I'm not done yet! Don't you know who I am, huh?" she shouted again.
I could feel her getting closer to me. Honestly, it was getting annoying—her voice was way too loud. It's not like I'm that far or that tall for her to be shouting while talking to me, right?? I turned back to face her to respond to what she said.
"I don't care if you're even the daughter of the President of the Philippines… whoever you are, you have no right to hurt my friend!! Do you even realize you could go to jail for what you did? What did I even do to you? I just returned your baseball bat, right?"
"Eh that's not even mine, are you stupid or what?"
"No, because as far as I know, you're the player, right? In your group, you're the only player, so I'm not stupid!"
When I said that, I already walked over to Jane and pulled her out of the cafeteria.
"You'll pay for this!" I heard her shout behind me.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever!" I just replied, waving my hand in the air. Whatever, snout—talk all you want.
We kept walking out of the cafeteria, leaving Jaime there still throwing a fit.
"Rayla, what are you doing? You could get in trouble because of that! You shouldn't have fought back," Jane said beside me while I was still pulling her along. We were heading to the clinic now—her face was full of scratches and bruises. Whoever pulled her hair, did a cat do that or what? I just ignored what she said. I didn't need more things to think about, especially with all the nonsense she's been doing in her life anyway.
"Rayla, seriously, are you even listening?" she said again. Ugh, she can be so annoying sometimes too. We stopped right in front of the clinic—well, actually, I stopped because I was the one dragging her along.Tsk. I looked at her first before speaking.
"Eh what did you even do for that walking breast—like to come after you?" I asked her seriously. I didn't expect her to laugh. Is she okay? Is she losing it or something?
"What did you call her? A walking what?" she said, still wiping tears from laughing. I waited for her to calm down a bit before I gently pushed her into the clinic. Just then, the nurse who was about to come out stopped in her tracks because of our sudden entrance.
"Oh? What happened to your face?" the nurse asked when she saw Jane. "Got attacked by a cat!" I answered, which made my companion laugh again. Seriously, what's so funny? "Oh, okay. Come here, sit down so we can treat those wounds," the nurse said.
After the nurse finished treating Jane's wounds, we left the clinic. I didn't even know where we were supposed to go next since break time was already over and classes were probably starting again.
"Rayla! There you are! We've been looking for you. You're being called to the dean's office!"
Asther said, looking tired from searching, "Rayla! There you are! We've been looking for you. You're being called to the dean's office!" I just rolled my eyes upward because I already expected this to happen. "I told you this will happen, you shouldn't have even fought back," Jane said to me, like she was blaming me for it.
"If I hadn't fought back, you'd probably be in the hospital right now because of that hit to your head!" I replied, then we went straight to the dean's office. When we arrived, we saw Jaime and her father—the owner of the school—already inside.
"Have a seat, Ms. Kryst," The dean told me, so just follow and sit down, right across from Jaime. Instead of meeting her gaze, I just stared at the lizard on the ceiling of the dean's office. Of all places, even here there's still a lizard on the ceiling.
Joking aside, I heard the dean speak again. Actually, I could hear him talking, but I couldn't really understand what he was saying.
"Ms. Kryst, are you listening?"
"No Im not— I mean, yes, I am! I'm listening!"
Shappss! The dean gave me a sharp look. Sorry, Dean!
"As I said!" the dean repeated firmly.
"I've already heard the full details of what happened earlier. So, I want your explanation—why did you have to involve yourself in the fight and even hit the daughter of the school owner?" the dean said.
If you could only see how my ears practically twitched at what he said.
Seriously? So what if she's the owner's daughter? Does that mean she can't be stopped when she's hurting someone? And "hit"? Where's the injury there? Is the dean blind or something?
I stared at the dean for a few seconds before answering.
"Jane is my best friend. So, I did what I did. And besides, what she did was worse than what I did. My friend has actual injuries, see? Where are her injuries?" I said, pointing at Jaime as I answered the dean's question.
"Even so! You are not in any position to hurt Jaime either! You know she is the daughter of the school founder you're studying in! Can't you think properly?" the dean said.
"Seriously, Dean? Are you deaf, or are you just pretending not to hear me because the school founder is right in front of you? Does she even have any wounds? It looks like the wrong information reached you, Dean!I didn't do anything to her. THE ONLY THING THAT I DID WAS TO STOP THEM FROM TRYING TO HIT MY FRIEND'S HEAD WITH A BASEBALL BAT! That's the truth!"
I said while practically shouting at the dean. Damn it, if this wasn't an old man, I would've already punched him. They're seriously getting on my nerves. "Hit her? What the f—?"
Then I looked over at Mr. Waltten, who had been quietly standing on the side. And this one too acting all high and mighty like he's something. Pshh!
"Ms. Kryst! I am only trying to make you understand what you did and who you laid your hands on," the dean said again. Oh, my goodness, this dean doesn't really know anything. I swear, I'm going to get him removed from this school. He's way too much of a suck-up.
"Seriously, Dean! I'm already losing patience listening to you! You were fine earlier when you said you already heard everything that happened—so why now it sounds like you don't know anything and you're just scolding me to please the founder of this school? You know—and he knows—he's not even the major shareholder of this school. That proves he's not the owner. And besides, if this is how things work here, then does that mean everything they do is just fine? It just goes in one ear and out the other? Is that how it is? Favoritism?"
I even pointed at Jaime and her father, who had been silent in the corner the whole time, like he was just watching a movie.
Damn it.
Dean suddenly looked uncomfortable after everything I said—like he couldn't even sit properly anymore. That might honestly be the longest speech I've ever given in my entire life here. This dean is seriously getting on my nerves. Maybe it's better if I just don't come to school at all.
"Ehem, Ms. Kryst! Ahem… calm down for a moment. Let's just talk this through. Is that alright, Mr. Waltten?" the dean said.
"Tssk."
I rolled my eyes at all of them. This day is seriously so annoying…
"I'm sorry for what Jaime did, Ms. Kryst," Mr. Waltten said to me. I just gave him a small nod and was about to leave.
"Ms. Kryst, I'm really sorry. Don't worry, I'll talk to Jaime about what she did to you and your friend. I hope this won't become the reason for this school's downfall," he added
"Yeah, yeah, whatever."
I was about to leave when I suddenly remembered the dean. "And one more thing," I added. "Can you give the dean a memo? I might get irritated and have him removed from his position." After I said that, I left.
Yes—you're right about what you're thinking now. I am the major shareholder of this school. Well, it was actually my Lolo Brent who owned it, but since he's gone, he left everything to me, and it's all under my name now as his heir.
Even so, he still taught me how to handle business—he said I had potential. Sometimes he would bring me along on his trips back then, and other times he would ask for my insights. The truth is, this is the only thing he left me, along with a few properties. The other businesses were sold off. That's what his lawyer said.
And it seems the dean didn't even receive that memo, so he just keeps scolding me like that without knowing the full picture. I also sign documents for this school anyway, since even like this, I still have responsibilities to handle regarding upcoming projects. It's not like I wouldn't know where my money is going, right? And since I'm still a student, I assigned most of the work to Mr. Walter and his assistant explains things to me afterward so I can still gain insights. I keep a low profile, so maybe that's why nobody in the school knows I'm the real owner.
"Rayla, what did you mean earlier?" Ashter asked me, still here for some reason I don't even know. I didn't bother answering him. I just kept walking toward the cafeteria—I was hungry anyway since I hadn't eaten earlier. I was walking ahead of them. Jane was the one answering for me earlier I didn't really care if she told others about my situation in life or not.
When they caught up, they just followed me wherever I was going. I didn't pay attention to them anymore anyway. There were no more classes, and they said there was a meeting, so I'd just eat first before going home—I was really hungry. "Hey! Why don't we just eat outside instead? There's no more class anyway, right?" asked Ashter's friend.
"Oh, um, sorry. I'm Wilbert, Ashter's friend," he introduced himself.
"And the reason why Jaime did that to Jane—" Ashter suddenly cut in. I immediately looked at Jane. Right, she still didn't answer my question earlier. Wilbert suddenly frowned at what Ashter said. He probably didn't expect his friend to bring up what happened earlier.
"So? Spill the beans already," I said seriously, shifting my gaze between the three of them.
So what now? Am I the only one who doesn't know anything? Is that it?
Yay!!! Chapter 3 is out hehe! Sorry for making you wait!!!!
Yay!!! Chapter 3 is out!!!!! It's been a while I'm sorry for the long pause.
