Some commanders love war and are deeply immersed in the immense sense of achievement, satisfaction, pride, and a touch of vanity brought about by commanding millions to charge forward with a single order, eagerly anticipating the moment of victory, yearning for the immense pleasure of trampling the enemy leader underfoot.
This type of commander can become a relatively good general but will never become a great leader because they are dictated by the fleeting euphoria that will eventually vanish, and they become absorbed by war.
There is another kind of commander who hates war, and with each order to charge, a moment of immense guilt and pain flashes through their heart. Some commanders become so mired in this pain that they cannot extricate themselves, ultimately sinking into another abyss due to extreme aversion to war and their blood-stained hands.
