Under everyone's gaze, Isla Lane took the phone out of her handbag. When she saw the word 'son' flashing on the screen, her eyes suddenly sparkled with excitement.
"You all go ahead and eat, I'll step outside to take a phone call." After saying that, she stood up with her phone and left the dining room.
Once she was away from the restaurant, Isla answered the call from Benjamin Shaw, but she was still worried about being overheard, so she lowered her voice a bit, "Son! I am with you..."
"Mom! You're not at Alice's house now, are you?" Over the phone, Benjamin sensed something odd in Isla's tone and immediately became tense, hoping that he was just overthinking.
Hearing her son ask this, Isla blurted out excitedly, "Son! How did you know I was at Alice's house? We truly are on the same wavelength, like how mothers and sons are connected."
