"Are you ready? I'll go to the hospital with you now." Kyle Kinston spoke.
Mabel Quinn felt as if a thousand-pound stone was pressing on her chest, making it hard for her to breathe. His return was only to take her to the hospital for surgery.
Surgery to remove their child.
"Did you... spend the night at the Tavern last night?" She heard her own voice asking.
He was slightly startled, raised his eyes to look at her, then seemed to realize something, a look of understanding flashed in his eyes, and he nodded. She must have seen his location on her phone.
"So, your phone was never away from you, was it?" She asked a second question.
"Yes." He said, "I had something to deal with last night, so I stayed overnight at the Tavern." Spending the pain of the Full Moon alone in the Tavern.
She felt her lips were incredibly dry, her throat seemed to be blocked by something. It took her a while before she asked again in that dry voice, "Were you alone the whole time?"
