"leave the brat to me."
That's what I told Louie.
But truth be told, I'm starting to lose patience on this kid!
Nathan.
Just why do you keep bringing problems to our family?
My Habibi and I hardly got some rest since Nathan woke up at 5 AM and thrashed his room after realizing that I've locked him in.
"This is illegal detention! You can't do this to me!" he kept screaming. "Let me out or I swear I'll sue you!"
"We're doing this for your own good," I told him when I brought him his breakfast which he threw right at me.
"What do you care about what's good for me?! You're just an uncle, you're not my dad! And I'm already old enough to know what I'm doing! I have my rights! And I can do anything I want!"
"You are clinically unstable due to symptoms of Fated Pair Withdrawal Syndrome," Aahmes told him. "You are a threat to society and to yourself. As your doctor, I suggest you be kept indoors until your symptoms subside."
"The fuck are you talking about?!" he yelled at Aahmes. "You're not even my doctor!"
Pissed, I pushed him back on the bed where he landed on his back. I guess the new suppressant is working, making him easier to subdue. Either that, or he's simply too weak since he haven't eaten anything for a whole day.
"Hey, you brat! Learn to respect your elders! Is that how your father and I brought you up?!"
Nathan glared and snapped and at me, "Just why did you stop me last night? What's wrong about looking for someone to fuck?"
"What do you mean, what's wrong?" I snapped back, "Did you really want to get gang banged again?! Did you like getting raped to much that it turned into a kink?"
Nathan silently seethed as he glared at me. I guess I went too far with that last line.
"Just stay here until your head clears up," I told him as I left the room and locked the door behind me.
A few seconds later, we heard him throwing another fit inside the room. I couldn't help but sigh and shake my head, knowing that there was nothing more we can do about him. Later that day, we heard glass shattering and heard Nathan shouting at the neighbors.
"Help! I'm being held against my will! Call the cops!"
Good thing we were able to inform them that my young nephew was suffering from pair withdrawal symptoms. We had to clean his room and remove the wooden chair he used to break the windows. This went on `till evening when we drought him dinner.
"Just go to hell and leave me alone if you won't let me leave!" he insisted. "Nothing will change even if you keep me in here all week! I'll just run away as soon as I get out of this room!"
I decided to just ignore him. Too tired to argue or try to explain anything. He threw his dinner at us again, good thing we used a paper plate. He kept kicking at the door when we left him, even tried breaking the doorknob, thinking he could open it that way, when I had a bolt placed outside the door. He went at it for about an hour then suddenly went silent.
"Do you think he finally decided to give up?" asked Aahmes as we stained to hear him from the laboratory.
"Probably," I replied. "Maybe he finally decided to sleep, he haven't eaten anything all day, after all."
"Good. We can inject him with another dose of suppressants when he sobers up," Aahmes suggested, "Perhaps we could administer a higher dosage."
"Good idea."
I took an ampule from our stock and got a syringe ready. I placed a slightly higher dose before heading to Nathan's room with Aahmes. We slowly opened the door and looked in, ready to duck in case he decided to throw something at us, when we found Nathan collapsed on the bed, his face pale, with half his body on the floor!
"This idiot!"
I rushed to his side and checked his vitals. His pulse was weak, and he has gasping for breath. We checked his body for wounds and were relieved when we didn't find any.
"He must have passed out due to hunger," said Aahmes.
"That's what he gets for being stupid!" I said with a huff.
We quickly brought Nathan to the hospital where they hooked him up with an IV. We instructed the staff to strap him to the bed to keep him from running away. I called Louie soon after to tell him what happened and left as soon as he arrived to face the root of all our problems.
"You need to talk to Nathan," I told Reubert as soon as he opened the door to his condo unit. "Say something to him... anything!"
"What for?" he answered, sounding resigned to his fate.
"Reubert, Nathan is ruining his life because of–"
"Whatever Nathan does is his own business," he cut me off. "Why would I need to talk to him? I know how easily he can replace me, and frankly, I don't care anymore. So why bother?"
Ah. So that's how it is.
I felt my blood rise to the top of my head as I lost my temper and threw a fist at the bastard's face.
"After all you've done? After what you've put him through, now you tell me that you don't want to be bothered by him anymore?" I shouted. "Did you lose interest in him that fast? Or were you just playing with him from the start?"
I tried throwing another punch, but Reubert caught my fist this time.
"What? Are you fed up already? Didn't you say you hate arrogant and irresponsible alpha bastards?" I mocked him. "Well, you're even worst, `coz in spite of all you've been through as an omega, you decided to act like the alphas that you fucking hate so much!"
I pulled my arm away from him. Touching him felt disgusting. I was so angry that my tight chest was heaving. I was just so disappointed that the omega I reared turned out to be such an asshole!
"If you don't go to him right now, then make fucking sure you would never bother to my nephew again!" I sneered at him. "Don't you dare try to contact him or show yourself in front of us ever again! Just forget everything about Nathan, and forget about me as well!"
Reubert kept silent. He wouldn't even meet my gaze. I simply turned around and left. I was about to board the elevator when I felt him touch my arm and slip something into my pocket.
"Get the fuck away from me!" I pushed him away. "You are dead to me from this day forth," I glared at his listless eyes as the elevator doors begin to close. "And I'll kill you myself if you dare bother us again."
"What happened, Eric?" Aahmes asked with concern when I arrived at the parking area.
"That goddamn son of a bitch."
I slammed the car door shot as I got in.
"That good for nothing bastard Reubert! I guess the two of them really fit each other since they're both suck fucking goddamn morons! They deserve to suffer for all eternity. But why the fuck do they have to get the rest of us involved in their stupid lover's quarrel?!"
"Did Reubert not say anything? Is he still planning to leave?" asked Aahmes.
"He said he doesn't care anymore and refuses to bother!" I spat out the words in anger. "He says Nathan can easily replace him anyway, so it's better to just go their separate ways."
"Hmm... could it be that he found out what Nathan did last night?"
"How would I know?!" I snapped. "Well, Nathan wouldn't have ended that way if it wasn't for him in the first place!"
I took deep breaths to try to calm myself.
"Sorry... I didn't mean to throw my frustrations at you... It just... pisses me off how stupid both of them are!"
"It is okay, professor, I am quite used to it."
I looked at my Habibi and took another deep breath. He shows no emotion in his face, but I know that he's also affected by all the craziness that's been happening around us. He's even gone back t calling me professor.
"Well, you shouldn't," I reached for his hand. "I'm sorry, Mahal, just when I thought all our problems were finally over, this new fiasco comes along..."
"It is inevitable. The least we could do is face this new fiasco together."
"And I'm ever so thankful that you're here with me."
It took me a while to calm down. All the while, Aahmes sat patiently beside me, his hand clasped in mine. When I finally settled down, I remembered Reubert dropping something in my pocket, and pulled out a folded piece of paper from inside it.
It turned out to be a newspaper clipping. I unfolded it and found a short article on the page.
'University Professor Found Dead in Motel.'
It read.
'A 35 year old university professor was found dead due to heart failure in a motel in Sta. Mesa, Manila. Initial findings showed that he was in bed with a partner, possibly an omega, and had a heart attack while in the heat of having sex. Police are currently looking for his partner for questioning.'
"What the hell did that bastard do now?" I mumbled to myself, looking at the CCTV picture on the article. It showed two men standing by the elevators, one was wearing a hoodie and was suspiciously shaped like Reubert.
"What is that?"
"Reubert placed this in my pocket earlier before I left. I'm guessing he killed a professor from their university. But what does that have to do with Nathan?"
"Perhaps we would never know."
"Damn... I just want to run to Batangas with you and leave everything behind. I want to sleep on the beach while snuggling you and wake up the next day with the sun in our eyes and nothing to worry about but the sand wedged between out toes!"
"In due time, Eric..." Aahmes squeezed my hand. "For now, we need to take care of Nathan. He would definitely need all our support to get through this one."
I gave the longest sigh in my entire life while Aahmes waited for me to calm down once more.
"So, where do we go from here?" he asked.
"back to the hospital. We need to watch over Nathan before he decides to do anything more stupid."
"Perhaps we can get him a pregnancy test as well?"
I stare at Aahmes.
"Are you still hung up on that issue?"
"It is just a simple test."
"Okay, then, you tell him about it yourself. Make sure you explain it to him well."
