His Foresight could pick up on the presence of the bandits, their hostility for one thing or another was too strong to hide away from Sachi's sixth sense. The four bandits were shuffling about a boat on the beach, packing in what looked like a few supplies and weapons. He stopped before reaching them, staying close enough to talk, but far enough to keep from fighting.
Startled, they all drew their weapons. "Who are you! you don't have an armband... The hell do you want with us?"
"I believe that boat belongs to someone already."
"Yeah, some of those assholes working for the guild, the hell do you care!?"
"Sorry, but I need you all to leave that boat alone."
Footsteps ran up behind him.
"Sachi! How the hell did you run that fast!?"
All three of them ran up behind Sachi, completely out of breath.
"Sorry, Sachi. We need that boat to get back to Limbo."
The grizzled bandit grit his teeth. "You are working for them!" He lunged for the axe in the boat, but was cut off before he could reach it. Foresight had picked up his hostile intentions clearly.
"Sorry, but I'm not working for anyone." A clean slash cut the man in half, quickly dissolving him into the sand below.
Everyone watched in horror at the slaughter. Another bandit piped up. "T-then why are you helping them!? Do you know what the Eternal Flame has done!?"
"I'm more than aware of his atrocities."
"Then why stop us! That bastard deserves to die! He... He took my daughter, and killed her, just because she was chosen as a Champion!"
The man fell down on his rear, tears streaming. "He took something from all of us... We lived in Limbo until he kicked us all out because we didn't agree to join him..." The others looked just as distraught as him. Foresight couldn't sense hostility anymore.
Gili ran to the boat. "Let's just go while they're distracted! C'mon!"
Sachi looked back at the three with arm bands, and then the three bandits on the beach.
"...No, hold on a minute." He crouched down in front of the distressed men.
"I'm going to kill the Eternal Flame."
The sobs slowed as they looked at Sachi. The burning wind picked up, blowing his hair to the side. They could clearly see something in his eyes.
"H-hey, Sachi. You're joking right?"
The three by the boat now looked scared, Pat was even shaking.
"I'm not. I'll tell you the truth, and let you decide what to do."
Sachi stood up and looked back at them.
"I'm a Champion from the Gods' Game. The Eternal Flame sent me here to die, and my friends are rotting away in his prison while he slaughters more innocent people."
He steps towards them.
"I know you three aren't bad people. Help me get back to my friends so we can take down the Eternal Flame."
Gili shook his head. "Sachi, you can't be serious. If he sent you here, then you know how strong he is! You can't kill him!"
Sachi shook his head in return. "I have to try. They're waiting for me."
Pat shook like a scared dog. "Won't that makes us a target of the entire realm?"
A bead of sweat ran down Ali's forehead. "It would. I'm against this."
"I..." Gili looked down at the miniature grains of sand. It felt like he was looking at himself. "I have people waiting for me too. The guild told me my Devil was useless, and cast me aside." He looked back at the other two. "Cast us aside."
He looked up at Sachi, almost like he was trying to siphon the determination from his eyes. "Can we even help you?"
Sachi nodded. "They think you're something lesser than them, and that's how we fight back. We get stronger right under their nose, and strike back when the moment is right. I am the Champion of the Lesser Goddess of Luck, and I am going to kill the Eternal Flame."
"L-lesser Goddess!? And you can fight like that?"
Sachi gave a slow nod. "I can get even stronger with your help."
Ali still looked nervous. "I still don-"
"Get on the boat." Gili began to push the boat back into the murky waters.
"G-Gili!?"
"I don't want to be fed scraps and wander this wasteland for the rest of my life, this is our chance!" The boat began to bounce around in the water.
Ali grit his teeth. "But I wont hesitate to give you up if it starts to look even slightly bad!" He jumped on the boat after Gili.
Sachi began to walk towards the boat until he saw Pat still shaking.
"I-I can't even fight, I can barely use my powers... I can't do anything here..."
Sachi looked at the poor kid. "Before I got sent here, I fought along side a kid just like you. He could barely stay conscious whenever any kind of fight broke out. But the power he has... He didn't even realize how strong it truly was. If he was more confident, he could be unstoppable."
Pat's glossy eyes met Sachi's. "You remind me of him. You have the potential to be stronger than anyone else here."
"B-but... I-"
"Stop second guessing yourself. Go with your gut. That's how you get stronger." Sachi passed by him and hopped on the boat.
"I..." Pat looked up, and saw the three waiting for him on the boat. He bit his lip and jumped on to the boat with them.
The men on the beach spoke. "What about us! We want to help you too!"
Sachi shook his head. "You're not Champions, you cant do the same things that we can. You have a place here, don't you? Work hard there to make preparations."
"A war is about to start."
