Chapter 18 - Chicken - War

Morning arrived quietly.

Ren slowly opened his eyes and stretched slightly as sunlight filtered through the window of his room.

After sitting up on the bed, he rubbed his eyes and spoke lazily.

"System, sign-in."

[Ding! Congratulations, host, for signing in! You have received: SCP-3199 — Humans Refuted.]

[Please choose whether to summon the SCP or receive its traits.]

Ren stared at the notification for a few seconds.

Then his expression froze in shock. \(˚☐˚")/

"…You've got to be kidding me."

It wasn't because the SCP was extremely powerful.

No.

It was because the thing he had just received was essentially an Army of Angry humanoid chicken.

Ren slowly pinched the bridge of his nose.

"…System, explain something to me."

"What happens if I merge the traits of SCP-3199?"

The system immediately responded.

[Eggcellent (Trait)]

[Description: By obtaining SCP-3199, the host gains the ability to vomit eggs.]

Ren stared at the message.

There was a long pause.

"…Yeah."

"…Heck no." (⊙ _ ⊙ )

"System, I choose to summon SCP-3199."

He waved his hand dismissively.

"And please place it inside a football-field-sized containment cell in Containment Zone-202."

After giving the command, Ren leaned back slightly with a mischievous grin.

'With this… I'll eventually have an army of humanoid chickens.'

'Hehe.'

after all, SCP-3199 was an extremely bizarre anomaly.

The creature resembled a twisted humanoid chicken capable of producing eggs by vomiting them whenever it detected empty space around it.

And the most terrifying part—

There was no known limit to how many eggs it could produce.

Given enough space, a single SCP-3199 could theoretically fill an entire world with eggs.

Once hatched, those eggs would produce more SCP-3199 instances, which would repeat the process again.

Now that Ren placed the SCP inside a football-field sized containment that roughly 60.000 m², if every inch of space inside filled with SCP-3199, there will be more than 300.000 angry chicken.

Oh yeah, let's not forget The eggs themselves were also absurdly durable.

The only successful method the Foundation had ever recorded involved freezing the egg to −190°C with liquid nitrogen and then crushing it under approximately 9000 psi of pressure.

Despite their horrifying reproduction ability, SCP-3199 instances were still vulnerable to conventional weapons.

However, that didn't make them harmless. Their strength equal to 3 adult man.

and If anyone came within roughly half a kilometer of one, the creature would immediately charge toward the target with terrifying speed.

What followed was… unpleasant.

Bones shattered.

Organs crushed.

The victim would then be dragged back toward the nearest hatchling to be consumed.

Even if no food was available, the hatchlings would still grow normally—

Just a bit slower.

Ren leaned back slightly after recalling the SCP's description.

"…Yeah."

"These things are definitely going straight into containment."

Still, the thought of having a self-replicating army of murderous humanoid chickens stored inside his dimension was strangely satisfying.

Ren got up from his bed and walked toward the bathroom to wash up before starting the day. After finishing, he headed downstairs and prepared a simple breakfast.

=====

Later that morning, the three of them sat together at the dining table.

Sakura quietly ate her breakfast while Aesc observed her with calm interest, occasionally explaining small details about magical energy and concentration whenever Sakura asked questions.

Ren watched the two of them for a moment before finally speaking.

"Alright," he said while leaning back in his chair. "Let's talk about today's plan."

Both of them looked toward him.

"Today is the day the Holy Grail War officially begins."

Sakura's hands paused slightly.

However, Ren waved his hand casually.

"But neither of you need to participate right now."

He turned toward Aesc.

"Aesc, I want you to focus on teaching Sakura magecraft."

Aesc nodded slightly.

Ren continued "You just wanted to confirm the Holy Grail, right?"

"So I'll bring you to see it later—once the war is almost over."

Aesc did not question Ren.

After witnessing the abilities he had casually displayed yesterday, she could already make a rough judgment. The man standing in front of her possessed power far beyond that of an ordinary magus—so much so that, if he truly wished, he might be able to end the entire Holy Grail War by himself.

With that understanding, there was little reason for her to interfere.

For now, her role was simple.

She would remain in this mansion, quietly teaching the young Sakura the fundamentals of magecraft while observing the situation from afar.

Besides—

There was something else that had caught her interest.

The library Ren had mentioned.

Ren then reached into his coat and placed two cards on the table.

They were black identification cards bearing a strange emblem.

The Foundation logo.

"This is for both of you," Ren explained.

"These cards allow you to contact me anytime."

He tapped the card lightly.

"They also act as keys. With them, you'll be able to enter or leave this dimension freely."

Sakura carefully picked up the card and examined it curiously.

Aesc, on the other hand, immediately sensed the faint magical structure hidden inside the object.

It wasn't magecraft.

It was something entirely different.

After finishing his explanation, Ren stood up.

"Well then," he said casually, stretching his arms. "Time for me to handle something else."

Aesc looked toward him.

"You are leaving?"

"Yeah."

Ren shrugged.

"There's someone I want to find."

If his memory from the original story was correct, the Original Caster-class Master in the Fourth Holy Grail War was a serial killer who murdered numerous children.

A man named Ryuunosuke Uryuu.

Thinking about it made Ren's expression darken slightly.

He had no intention of letting someone like that continue breathing.

Ren wasn't a Saint that help everyone, however that doesn't mean he will ignore something that cross his bottom line.

For him, as long as you harm innocent children regardless of reason, in his eyes you are practically an eyesore that have to be erased.

Without another word, Ren stepped outside the mansion.

A moment later, space distorted again as he opened a portal and left the dimension.

When Ren appeared again, inside the hotel room.

Ren closed his eyes slightly.

Using his abilities, he began scanning the city.

Hospitals.

Schools.

Residential districts.

Abandoned buildings.

He searched carefully, attempting to locate Uryuu.

Minutes passed.

Then more time passed.

Yet no matter how thoroughly he searched, he found nothing.

Ren slowly opened his eyes.

"…Huh?"

He tried again.

Expanding his search wider this time.

Still nothing.

No suspicious individuals.

No traces of murders matching the pattern.

No signs of the man he was looking for.

After several attempts, Ren finally frowned.

"…Don't tell me."

He crossed his arms thoughtfully.

"Did that guy not exist here?"

Or perhaps…

He wasn't in Fuyuki at all.

Ren scratched his head in mild frustration.

"Well…"

"If he exists somewhere, I'll find him eventually."

But for now—

The serial killer known as Ryuunosuke Uryuu seemed to be nowhere in the city.

And that raised a very strange question.

Had the timeline already begun to change?

Or… had something else mixed into this world?

"If something else did mix in… could it be the devils?" Ren muttered to himself. "But if that's the case, why can't I find them?"

The thought lingered for a moment, but there was little point dwelling on it.

After all, even if the situation had changed, he would eventually figure it out.

Ren let out a small sigh and stretched his arms.

"Well… no use standing around thinking."

Instead of continuing his search, he decided to relax for a while.

Ren headed toward a nearby arcade, planning to kill time until the evening arrived. If his memory from the original story was correct, Diarmuid Ua Duibhne, the Lancer-class Servant, would eventually release a surge of mana near the harbor to challenge the other Servants.

Which meant—

The gathering point tonight would be the docks.

And Ren had no intention of missing that.

Time passed slowly.

Inside the arcade, the bright lights and constant noise filled the air as Ren casually played through several games, occasionally glancing at the clock on the wall.

Hours slipped by before he finally stepped outside again.

The sky had already begun to darken.

Streetlights flickered to life as the evening settled over Fuyuki City.

Ren stretched slightly before starting to walk toward the harbor.

Halfway there, a thought suddenly crossed his mind.

"…Now that I think about it."

He stopped walking.

"A disguise might be necessary."

After all, if someone were to record his real face, the moment he entered the battlefield to join the fun, his peaceful everyday life would be finished—and that was a price he refused to pay.

Ren rubbed his chin thoughtfully.

"I could pretend to be a Caster."

He shrugged.

"If Irisviel can disguise herself as Master to fool people…"

"Why can't I do the same?"

The idea sounded perfectly reasonable.

With that thought in mind, Ren casually activated a portion of his reality manipulation.

His appearance shifted subtly.

Clothes changed.

Colors rearranged themselves.

Fabric formed out of thin air.

Within moments, his appearance had completely transformed.

Now Ren looked far more theatrical and mysterious.

He wore an elegant red long coat decorated with golden accents over a dark vest and fitted black trousers, giving him the appearance of a refined magician—or perhaps a stage ringmaster.

A black top hat with a red band and feather tilted slightly forward, partially hiding his eyes and adding to his enigmatic presence.

His pale complexion and sly smile only made the image more mischievous.

One gloved hand rested gracefully against his chest, while a decorative cane with a curved handle rested lightly behind his shoulder.

He stopped beside a nearby shop window and used the reflection as a mirror.

After examining himself for a moment, Ren chuckled softly.

"Perfect."

With his disguise complete, he turned and continued walking toward the harbor—ready to watch the opening act of the Holy Grail War unfold.

==================

The night air near the harbor was cold and quiet.

Waves gently struck the metal supports of the docks while the distant lights of Fuyuki City shimmered across the water.

Ren walked calmly along the empty road, his cane tapping softly against the pavement.

Clack.

Clack.

Clack.

Eventually he stopped.

Ahead of him stood an open container yard.

And more importantly—

A sudden surge of magical energy.

Ren smiled faintly.

"Right on schedule."

In the distance, two figures stood facing each other.

One was a tall man with long hair tied behind his head, dressed in a dark coat and holding two spears.

The other—

A blonde knight in a black suit and behind her a beautiful girl with red pupils and long white hair

Ren immediately recognized them.

Diarmuid Ua Duibhne.

Artoria Pendragon and behind her Irisviel

Lancer had already released his magical energy openly, inviting other Servants to gather.

And Saber had answered the call.

Ren leaned casually against a nearby container and watched.

A faint rune glowed briefly beneath his sleeve before fading away.

The Rune of Concealment had already been activated.

With it in place, neither Servants nor Masters could perceive him unless he deliberately revealed himself.

To everyone present, Ren simply did not exist.

Satisfied, he reached into the air and casually pulled out a familiar red-and-white box.

A pizza box.

Opening it, the delicious smell of freshly baked Margherita Pizza filled the air.

"Perfect timing."

Ren took a slice and leaned comfortably against the container.

Tonight's entertainment had begun.

Across the dock, two figures stood facing one another.

One held two spears.

The other carried an invisible blade.

The wind swept across the empty harbor as the two knights stared at one another with unwavering focus.

Lancer smiled faintly.

"So you answered my call."

Saber stepped forward calmly.

"A knight does not ignore an honorable challenge."

The moment the words left her mouth—

Both Servants moved.

The clash was instantaneous.

Lancer's crimson spear shot forward like lightning, its tip slicing through the air with terrifying precision.

Saber stepped forward and raised her invisible sword to intercept.

CLANG.

The impact rang across the docks like a bell.

Steel met steel.

Lancer twisted his body fluidly and launched another strike, his twin spears weaving through the air like dancing flames.

Saber responded with precise movements, her invisible blade deflecting each attack with elegant efficiency.

Their battle became a storm of flashing weapons and explosive footwork.

Containers rattled.

Wind howled.

The ground cracked beneath their steps.

Ren took another bite of pizza.

"Man… watching this live really hits different."

The duel continued without pause.

Both Servants moved faster than the human eye could follow, their weapons colliding again and again as sparks flashed through the night air.

Lancer spun his crimson spear with fluid precision, each strike aimed to probe Saber's defense.

Saber responded with flawless footwork, her invisible blade intercepting every attack.

But Lancer suddenly shifted his stance.

The crimson spear shot forward in a lightning-fast thrust.

CLANG.

Saber moved to block, but the spear's tip barely brushed against her armor.

Just a graze.

Yet in that instant, her eyes widened.

Pain shot through her shoulder.

Saber quickly leapt back several steps, creating distance between them as she examined the wound.

Her armor was intact.

Yet blood slowly seeped through the gap beneath the plate.

"…So that is your trick."

Across from her, Diarmuid Ua Duibhne gave a faint smile.

"My crimson spear."

"It negates magical protection."

No matter how strong the armor or enchantment, the spear would pierce through it as if the defense never existed.

Saber's expression hardened.

Then she made a decision.

The silver armor covering her body dissolved into particles of light and vanished.

Without the heavy armor weighing her down, her movements would become faster.

From a tactical perspective, it was meant to improve her mobility.

But from the sidelines—

Ren slowly lowered the pizza slice in his hand.

"…Wait."

He stared at the battlefield with a blank expression.

"Did she just… throw away her armor?"

He rubbed his forehead.

"Is her brain filled with sewage water or something?"

Ren watched the fight with increasing disbelief.

"You're the King of Knights. A battlefield veteran who fought through wars."

"And your response to discovering your opponent has a dangerous weapon…"

"…is to remove your only defense?"

Ren gestured toward Lancer.

"He's holding two spears."

"You already know one of them ignores magical defense."

"So what about the other one?"

He sighed.

"And you decide to fight him half-naked."

"Brilliant strategy."

Back on the battlefield, Saber rushed forward again, her speed noticeably faster without the armor.

Their weapons clashed again.

This time, however—

Lancer suddenly switched weapons.

Instead of using the crimson spear again, he thrust forward with the longer yellow spear in his other hand.

The attack came unexpectedly.

Saber tried to dodge, but the spear still managed to slice across her side.

The wound was shallow.

But the moment it happened—

Saber's expression changed.

The injury refused to heal.

Her natural magical regeneration had stopped completely.

Lancer calmly twirled the yellow spear.

"My other spear..."

"A curse that prevents wounds from healing."

Saber's eyes narrowed.

Now the true danger of Lancer's twin spears had been revealed.

One destroyed magical defense.

The other prevented wounds from healing.

Together—

They formed a lethal combination.

From his hidden position, Ren slowly shook his head.

"…And there it is."

He took another bite of pizza.

"Exactly what I expected."

Then suddenly—

A bolt of lightning tore through the sky.

BOOM.

Thunder exploded across the harbor as a massive chariot pulled by roaring bulls crashed onto the battlefield.

Standing atop it was a giant red-haired warrior.

"HAHAHAHAHAHA!"

His booming voice echoed across the docks.

"Magnificent! Truly magnificent!"

"I am Iskandar, the King of Conquerors!"

Ren stopped chewing.

"…Seriously?"

He sighed.

"Way to ruin the duel."

and that exactly the cue for our MVP to act

Ladies and Gentlemen, Please welcome our MVP, The SCP-504 Critical tomatoes.

Whooooshhh.

a red tomato shot forward like a red meteor.

Breaking the sound barrier instantly.

Even Servants barely had time to react.

Before anyone could understand what happened—

SPLAT.

The tomato slammed directly into Rider's face at absurd speed

The impact exploded like a grenade made of tomato juice as rider stumbled backward.

Silence fell across the battlefield.

Rider slowly lowered his head.

Tomato juice dripped from his beard.

His eyes twitched.

"…What."

Then slowly looked around the harbor.

"…Which coward threw that?!?!"

Nearby, Ren casually closed the pizza box and leaned back against the container.

Completely invisible.

Completely silent.

"…Worth it." (๑ᵔ⤙ᵔ๑)

The King of Conquerors slowly wiped the tomato pulp from his face.

The battlefield had gone completely silent.

Even Artoria Pendragon and Diarmuid Ua Duibhne paused their duel, momentarily stunned by what had just happened.

Meanwhile, Iskandar stared at the tomato seeds on his palm.

"…What."

For several seconds, no one answered.

The King of Conquerors' eyebrow twitched.

Then he suddenly burst into laughter.

"HAHAHAHAHAHA!"

"Well done!"

"I don't know who threw that, but you've got courage!"

He stepped forward and slammed the butt of his sword onto the ground.

"Enough hiding!"

His booming voice echoed across the entire harbor.

"All Servants lurking in the shadows—come out!"

"If you have the courage to participate in this war, then stand before me proudly!"

The wind swept across the empty docks.

For a moment—

Nothing happened.

Then a voice answered.

"Well, since you asked so politely…"

A ripple of distorted air appeared beside one of the shipping containers.

A figure stepped out from the shadows.

Ren casually tipped the brim of his black top hat.

The elegant red coat swayed slightly in the wind as he rested his cane against his shoulder.

To everyone present, his appearance was unmistakable.

A theatrical magician.

A spellcaster.

Though his entrance ruined by a Pizza box in his arm.

Immediately, several pairs of eyes focused on him.

Saber narrowed her gaze slightly.

"…Caster?"

Lancer also frowned.

Unlike the heavily armored warriors standing on the battlefield, Ren's appearance looked completely unsuited for combat.

Which only made his presence stranger.

Why would a Caster-class Servant reveal himself in front of multiple melee Servants?

Ren smiled calmly.

"Well, when the King of Conquerors invites you out so enthusiastically, refusing would be rather rude."

He glanced briefly at Rider.

"Though I must say, your entrance was… quite dramatic."

Rider crossed his arms.

"Hmph!"

"Are you the one who threw that tomato?"

Ren placed a gloved hand over his chest.

"I would never disrespect a king like that."

Meanwhile, from the shadows, another ripple appeared in the air.

A golden light shimmered like a mirror opening.

Then—

A figure appeared on top of a streetlight.

Golden armor reflected the moonlight like blazing fire.

An overwhelming presence filled the harbor.

Gilgamesh had arrived.

He looked around the battlefield with clear disdain.

"…What an unsightly gathering."

His crimson eyes slowly swept across the assembled Servants.

Rider.

Saber.

Lancer.

Then Ren.

Gilgamesh's lips curled slightly.

"Mongrels."

The word dripped with absolute arrogance.

"To think so many insects would gather in one place."

He folded his arms and looked down at them like a king observing peasants.

"This land belongs to me."

"And yet you vermin dare to stage your petty contests upon it."

The pressure in the air suddenly became heavy.

Ren quietly observed the golden king.

Then muttered under his breath.

"…Wow."

"That ego is even bigger in person. As expected of the oldest streetlight king, so impressive!!"

The stage of the Fourth Holy Grail War had truly begun.

And now—

three Servants plus a fake caster stood face to face beneath the night sky.

===============

Author's Note:

In this story, Masters cannot read or identify other Servant's parameters at all. Unlike some versions of the Holy Grail War where Masters can view a Servant's status, this ability does not exist here. A Servant's stats, skills, and Noble Phantasms are completely hidden, meaning everyone can only make guesses based on what they observe during battle.

oh and Here are Aesc's parameters in this story.

Class: Caster || True Name: Aesc || Master: Sakura Aion || Alignment: Lawful Neutral || Origin: Lostbelt Britain

Strength: D || Endurance: C || Agility: C || Mana: B || Luck: B || Noble Phantasm: B (Originally A)

Note:Aesc's parameters are currently suppressed due to Sakura's undeveloped magic circuits and limited mana control.

Class Skills

Territory Creation — A (Effective B)Allows Aesc to construct a Mage Workshop or magical territory that greatly enhances her magecraft efficiency. Because Sakura cannot yet supply stable mana, the current output is closer to Rank B unless external mana sources are used.

Item Construction — BAllows the creation of magical tools, charms, mystic codes, and bounded-field anchors.

Personal Skills

Fairy Magecraft — A (Restricted)Magecraft originating from fairy civilization rather than human thaumaturgy. Capable of environmental manipulation, large-scale spells, and magical interference. Due to Sakura's limited mana, the effective performance is currently closer to Rank B.

Savior of Britain — BA skill representing Aesc's role as the chosen protector of Britain. Grants improved performance when defending allies or territory and slightly stabilizes magical output under pressure.

Fairy Eyes — BAllows Aesc to perceive magical phenomena, detect magecraft activation, and identify abnormal magical energy.

Magic Resistance Rank: C

Negates low-tier magecraft and provides moderate resistance against magical interference.

Noble Phantasm

Rain Witch's DominionRank: A → B (Restricted)Type: Anti-Army / Territory Control

A Noble Phantasm representing Aesc's authority over Britain's land and magical environment. It allows her to manipulate weather, disrupt enemy magecraft, and strengthen allies within the affected territory.

Due to Sakura's current mana capacity, the scale of this Noble Phantasm is significantly reduced.
