Chapter 65 - Finding "you": Chapter 65: Sibling's refuge

Violet decided to turn on her podcast channel while being frustrated.

"Good morning! Good morning! Welcome back to Vi's V channel again! Today we don't have Monday blues because it's Sunday…" She greeted the channel before a few of them tuned in. Ever since she started her vlogs on travel, her channel had been gaining more traffic.

Out of all the notifications that popped up, she had noticed the username SapinessXOwhack and still couldn't figure out who it belonged to. Sebastian felt so glad to have his identity still in disguise, using that username to keep track of her. Except for himself and Sam, no one knew she only go live on her channel when she is upset.

"Do you all have to hit monthly targets or any KPI at work? Sigh, we need to start working like cows in the fields chasing after these performances, isn't it?" She sighed to add some effect.

"Work is work, but don't you forget to take good care of your health too…. Make sure you have a balanced diet. Don't just sit in front of the PC. Well, get your body to stand and move left to the right and again right to the left while shaking your hands up in the air!" She giggled, wanting to do it by the bridge as she wondered if anyone was doing it.

"Are you enjoying this little exercise?" She giggled again as many replied "yes" in the comments.

"So glad you all did! Well then, let's introduce today's guest… Jeng jeng jeng…" She did a mini drum roll sound while she took a picture of the green plant by the bridge.

"Here's or na mental planti!" She clapped, and it made Sebastian laugh from the hospital room while the majority commented with laughing emoticons.

"Here's a fact about it. After you have finished shaking your body here and there, everywhere… and you have this urge of just wanting to fart, you could please just let it go to or na mental planti. It would totally appreciate your fart and guess what, it would process it back out again as oxygen for you to breatheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee once again!" She tried to laugh heartily while tears fell from her eyes, while the comment room was filled with laughter.

"Let's take a good deep breath!! Wow, it smells so fresh!!" She cheered, trying to hide her sadness.

"Alright, that's all for today! Wishing every one of you a wonderful Sunday! Bye!!" She quickly ended the podcast and let the live stream upload as she broke down quietly to not draw any passerby's attention.

I can do this… But if I told him, he wouldn't agree. You must ace in telling him you're away for exams. Yes… Then we will cross the bridge later. She tried convincing herself, but her tears kept flowing, contradicting every thought she had.

The moment Sam landed, he checked Violet's podcast and knew something must have happened with the agency. He wanted to call her first, but instead, he called Sebastian.

"Hey…" Sebastian sounded very down.

"You're alright, bro?" Sam asked, but Sebastian hesitated with his answer.

"I don't know… Have you reached out to Vi?" He finally asked while trying to wonder how she was. He wondered if she was probably very upset or worse, had broken down.

"I'm going to. I thought I should check to see if she had returned to the hospital." Sam updated him.

"No, she didn't. Sam… She…" Sebastian wanted to preempt him about her unhappiness but could tell Sam must have known.

"Yes, I know. I saw the podcast. I will look for her. Don't worry. Will keep you updated." Sam assured him before hanging up.

Sam had no idea where to look for her as he went near the agency area to search. He could match the plant she snapped a picture of earlier, but she was nowhere to be found. He began to panic for fear she might have done something stupid.

That's when he quickly booked a taxi home, only to receive a text message from Violet that she was in the hospital with Sebastian. As Sam frantically rerouted his way, Sebastian was questioning Violet worriedly for updates.

"Come on, tell me… I'm Phor Tat. It's about Sebastian; then I have to know, cause he's soon to be our artist." Sebastian coaxed, but she still maintained her smile.

"It's nothing important. You don't have to worry. There's nothing they could do since you're on a busy schedule, and when this filming ends in two to three weeks, you will have that short camping film as the last project." Violet nonchalantly explained, but Sebastian stopped her.

"Vi… I know it's not that simple. So don't act all strong and keep it to yourself." Sebastian insisted.

Hmm, yes, it's not that simple. You're smart, but I'm not telling you … I can't. How could I? Violet thought to herself for a moment, meeting his gaze when Sam entered the room.

"He… llo…" Sam greeted, breaking their awkward silence as Sebastian let Violet's wrist go before she left the room.

"Could you go after her and get her to spill what's going on?" Sebastian demanded as Sam nodded and closed the door back, running after Violet, who was settling down at the hospital park.

"I have some happy news…" Sam teased her on purpose as they sat by the bench in the hospital park. Violet wasn't in the mood, but it was rare Sam acted such a way.

"What is it?" She tried to make him spill. That's when he put on his serious look.

"Spill. What did Cao Tung get you to agree to?" Violet sighed heavily at his false alarm, but she knew she had to tell him else he wouldn't let her off the hook. Except she skipped the threat part.

Instead, she told him she needed to be away for her tourist guide exam next weekend but would resume shortly after. She was being vague about it, but he didn't notice cause he was caught by tabloid news.

Who is the Queen of Romance, Jade, dating?

Will the Queen of Romance win the title again on Wednesday's annual award?

Queen of Romance dated Sam Chu, her ex-manager

"Is she alright? I have been asking…" Violet took the chance to divert the attention away from her secret plans with the agency.

He nodded with a smile. "So the good news was?" Violet prompted cause she had a feeling that if he could still smile, then it was real.

"I'm going to marry her…" He smiled as their gazes met. She beamed with joy as she clapped.

"...and give her and our baby a home…" He confessed further, which surprised her.

"A baby? She's pregnant?" She clarified as he nodded. It raised her suspicions from before as she decided to clarify.

"Sam… Back then when I miscarried…" She started as he nodded as though he understood what she was about to ask.

"I dated her secretly back then. You were right. She was once pregnant, but I didn't know about it or that she miscarried…" Sam closed his eyes and looked away.

"So… That explained the reason you acted that way during mine… You're sure a jerk…" She didn't hesitate to whack him as he turned to face her with squinted eyes.

"How dare you? I didn't know. We broke off and …" He was trying to defend himself, but to her it didn't matter.

"Still a jerk." She folded her arms triumphantly and looked away.

"If I were her, I wouldn't let you marry so easily. Hmph…" Violet continued teasing him.

"Oh… Then what about yourself?" He teased in return. "What about me?" She daringly questioned him in return.

"Hmm… Someone's worried sick up there." He hinted. "Let him. He isn't divorced like I am, in case you have forgotten. You told me to stay away. You told me to mind my own business and not get involved. You…" He interrupted her, knowing she was furious with Sebastian.

"Yes. But I also told you to look after him for his mental health…" She paused at his reminder of Sebastian's mental breakdown from anxiety.

Right… That… I forgot… She thought to herself.

"He is on medication anyway…" She tried shrugging it off. "Make sure you ace that exam…" He finally changed the topic as her gaze met with his and smiled.

"Has Dad known about his grandchild?" She raised an eyebrow and blinked cheekily.

"Ah… That… We will get to that after her last award ceremony. Can't tell him now with all the tabloids, right?" He said calmly, but his mind was trying to crack for a way.

"Oh, I called Dexter for help with lawyers…" Sam updated Violet.

"Oh…" She replied flatly.

"Oh? Just that?" He was astonished at her lack of response.

"What do you want me to say? He's technically my ex-husband now… Stepbrother?" Violet chuckled as Sam raised an eyebrow.

"Why? What's your problem with it?" Violet questioned Sam.

"Nothing. Just felt you moved on really fast…" Sam shrugged.

"And he hasn't moved on? So, I shouldn't? You know I have moved on long ago…" She said in a sad tone, which turned Sam's gaze back to her.

"No… That's not what I meant. It's just… Awkward that you could remain so adamant about how his situation is with us as though your marriage was an amnesia." Sam explained.

"The marriage wasn't an amnesia, Sam. It's a mistake which was fixed right through the divorce. The divorce is a reminder of my way of loving him. It's a gift to preserve my childhood with him." Violet explained while holding on to Sam's left hand.

"I know you're worried about my well-being, but I'm happy now. I just probably well…" Her gaze turned to the hospital building, indicating she wanted to talk about Sebastian as Sam sighed.

"About Dexter, it's all well. We are just waiting for the formal procedure to end. We would stay close like now. But if you were to say about my future… I… I don't know, Sam. I don't have the courage initially to start something serious. But the longer I stay, the more it grows on me. But I'm also aware of the challenges. Perhaps, like you said… It should never happen, and it's not meant to be." Violet concluded, which worried Sam.

"Vi…" He sounded worried, but Violet forced a smile, knowing she was about to give herself away on her plans.

"It's nothing, Sam. He's a mess too. He needs time to sort things out. So be it. I have a license to slay… Besides, they said a HR manager should travel more. That way you learn more about people's behavior and adapt better. Oh, and know more about places to help make you resourceful." Violet smiled proudly at her brother as Sam gently rubbed her head.

"Congratulations on being a father…" She teased.

"Thank you…" He said sincerely.

"Now, think of how to tell your father…" She laughed heartily before walking off, which left Sam chuckling to himself.

He was glad that he and Jade got the chance so soon to redeem the failures of the past. Though it was at the expense of her sacrifice, he was glad he could work with her side by side again.
