10 Diligent Study
Chapter 10 Diligent Study
It was late at night when they arrived at the academy.
Recruitment had lasted all day, and the large aircraft only took off after nightfall.
During this time, Link and Jasmine had eaten dinner delivered by an intelligent mechanical puppet; it was sweet, delicious, and very tasty.
After disembarking, several unmanned vehicles were already waiting, clearly marked, requiring no human guidance.
The boys and girls boarded the vehicles separately and headed to their respective dormitories.
Entering the dormitories required no further procedures or the purchase of bedding or other personal items; they could simply move in with their bags. Each person had their own room, no sharing.
The rooms were two-bedroom, one-living room, one-bathroom layouts. The two bedrooms were a bedroom and a study, the living room was a living room, and the bathroom had a separate wet and dry area.
Upon entering the dormitory, Link only took a quick look around to get a general idea of the room's layout before his personal AI in his bag vibrated.
Link quickly unpacked the bag, took out his AI, and found it was a notification from the academy.
He opened it and was dumbfounded.
"Congratulations to Link Grand, the 'new blood' from the Stormy Hequet Islands, on your official enrollment in the Rivosos Biological and Medical Academy.
Your wizarding journey of seeking knowledge and truth begins here.
Your course schedule for the next semester (sixteen weeks) will soon be sent to your personal AI. Please make arrangements for your time."
He closed the notification, and the course schedule arrived immediately.
Link took a deep breath, opened the schedule, and was even more dumbfounded.
This semester had eight courses: *A Brief History of Wizarding Civilization*, *An Overview of Mental Power and Meditation*, *Runeology*, *The Nature, Origin, and Development of Wizardry*, *Mathematics*, *Botany*, *Zoology*, and *Human Anatomy*. There were
four long classes each day, two in the morning and two in the afternoon—a very full schedule.
As for the textbooks, Link had seen them on the bookshelf in the study.
From living arrangements to studying, the academy had prepared everything perfectly.
So starting the day after tomorrow, Link would enter a life of studying relentlessly, as long as he didn't die.
After all, whether he would become a superior person or a beast of burden depended entirely on whether he could absorb and excel in these four years.
Time waits for no one. Link locked his personal smart device, quickly took a shower in the bathroom, changed into the free pajamas provided by the academy in his bedroom closet, and went to bed to recharge.
The next morning, Link woke up at the crack of dawn.
After taking care of his personal hygiene and changing into the school uniform also provided by the academy, Link, carrying the textbooks scheduled for the first four classes—"A Brief History of Wizarding Civilization," "An Overview of Mental Power and Meditation," "Runeology," and "The Nature, Origin, and Development of Wizardry"—along with the pen and notebook he found in the study, headed to the library under the map navigation of his personal smart device.
Molly Kidman had spent the entire day tinkering with her personal smart device and had achieved quite a bit.
Calendar, alarm clock, notes, map navigation, friend chat, file sharing, and more—Jasmine discovered them all.
Girls, after all, are generally enthusiastic about sharing.
So Link didn't need to figure it out himself; he already knew many uses for his personal smart device.
A breeze!
Link's dormitory was quite far from the library, about a fifteen-minute walk, passing a cafeteria and a student service building along the way.
He collected a free, hearty breakfast at the cafeteria using his ID, found a seat, and had just taken a sip of milk, not even starting to eat his bread, when Jasmine sent him a message through the smart device's friend system.
"Link, are you up yet? What are you planning to do today? Take a stroll around the academy?"
Link replied indifferently, "Stroll around what? Study! Classes start tomorrow, have you previewed the textbooks? What if you don't understand the teacher's lectures?"
"Ah, well... I haven't thought about that."
Link: "Heh. I'm having breakfast in the cafeteria, then I'll go to the library. I suggest you preview the textbooks too. You know we only have four years!!!"
After replying to this message, Link locked his personal smart device and focused on eating.
After filling his stomach, ignoring the several messages Jasmine sent, Link went straight to the library, found a seat by the window in the corner of the west reading room on the first floor, shared his seat with Jasmine, and then started reading seriously.
"A Brief History of Wizarding Civilization" was about the thickness of a thumb.
From the emergence of the first formal wizard in human history over 7,800 years ago, to humanity uniting under the wizard's leadership to defeat the powerful monster race and truly become the masters of the world, to the appearance of the first saint surpassing the ninth-level wizard, to the wizarding world dominating the celestial realms under the leadership of nine saints, to the great war between the wizarding world and the world of gods, which also dominated a region of the celestial realms, shattering both worlds, to the five surviving saints condensing some of the world fragments into a main continent, while the other fragments scattered across the four oceans, becoming islands of varying sizes…
Every event that had a significant impact on the wizarding world is included in the book.
It also details certain events with profound and far-reaching influence, restoring the truth from various angles and providing analysis.
Link quickly skimmed through the book, not even looking at it closely, but decided that he must study the historical events in detail according to the chronology in *A Brief History of Wizarding Civilization* when he had time.
Knowing the past can help us understand the present; reading history makes us wise.
After skimming through the book, Link turned to the first chapter and began reading again.
This time, he savored every word and sentence, jotting down his thoughts and questions in his notebook.
The mental palace only allowed Link to remember things at a glance, but remembering didn't equate to understanding.
Writing down his thoughts and taking notes helped him digest the knowledge better.
Because of the highest level of "brain closure," Link's mind was clear and free of distractions, allowing him to be completely absorbed in the book. Therefore, he didn't notice Jasmine had come looking for him.
After greeting her several times without a response, Jasmine was initially a little annoyed, but then she was inexplicably influenced and started diligently reviewing her lessons as well.
Until both of their stomachs began to rumble in protest.
They looked up and exchanged a glance.
Link seemed unfazed, but Jasmine's face flushed red with embarrassment.
Girls are always more concerned about their image.
"Let's go eat,"
Link's timely greeting eased the awkward atmosphere.
Jasmine lowered her head and tidied her books for a while, adjusting her mindset, and then casually went to the cafeteria for lunch with Link.
After lunch, Jasmine still felt like strolling around the academy; she had found many places interesting when she watched the video introducing the academy yesterday.
After being rejected by Link again, whether out of pride or some other reason, Jasmine chose to part ways with Link and went to explore on her own.
Link, on the other hand, plunged into the library, engrossed in his studies.
