Chapter 336 - Chapter 333 ~ Touching Nature Energy

Ryu's hand made contact with the metal device.

-[WARNING: Foreign Chakra Detected]

Right away, he felt something cold, smooth, and full of life and energy, untamed and wild. It was entirely unlike any chakra signature he had previously encountered.

Ryu kept his hand on the metal device, focusing on and analysing the unfamiliar sensation with his enhanced perception. Taro watched from a few steps away. He didn't interrupt.

Analysing chakra signature

- Chakra pattern: Non-standard

- Yin element signature: Undetected

- Yang element signature: Undetected

The observations flickered across his awareness—his subconscious processing data through abilities working faster than conscious thought could track.

Ryu's eyes widened slightly as the implications settled.

"All living things have both Yin and Yang elements in their chakra," he said aloud, working through the logic. His eyes narrowed. "Even the Tailed Beasts have Yin-Yang composition."

He stared at the metal beneath his palm, feeling the pulse of that strange energy.

"But this chakra contains neither Yin nor Yang."

- Energy source classification unknown

- Probable conclusion: Sage Chakra / Natural Energy

The realisation hit him like cold water.

Ryu thought, "This isn't chakra from any living thing. It comes from life itself."

Ryu looked at Taro. "Nature's chakra... Senjutsu chakra."

Taro nodded and said, "Correct." He gestured toward the device. "This metal channels pure nature energy—what some call senjutsu or sage chakra."

Ryu stared at the metal, thoughts racing.

"This is a rare opportunity," Ryu thought. "I need to understand how my body responds to sage chakra."

He focused, maintained his grip on the metal, and absorbed the senjutsu chakra into his system.

"I wouldn't recommend—" Taro started.

"I know the risks," Ryu interrupted, hand still advancing. "I want to test something."

Taro's voice hardened. "The concentration there is far beyond what any human can safely absorb at first try."

Nature chakra flooded his network the moment contact was made, overwhelming his senses as his body began absorbing the wild energy involuntarily. Next, he experienced a surge of euphoria.

Power surged through every cell, enhancing awareness beyond anything he'd experienced. He could feel the air molecules around him, sense the vibrations in the stone floor, and perceive Taro's presence like a beacon of compressed chakra six feet away.

So this is what sage chakra feels like, Ryu thought, even as part of his mind catalogued the danger. The legends didn't exaggerate—this power is intoxicating.

Time seemed to slow as his mind accelerated. Virtual screens appeared in his peripheral vision, showing real-time data of his bodily functions.

- Analysing cellular response

-Senjutsu chakra absorption rate: increasing exponentially

- Nervous system: heightened sensitivity

The experience was exhilarating, euphoric, and dangerously addictive.

Part of him wanted more, needed more, and craved the sensation like a drowning man craves air.

"Enough!" Taro's voice cut through the haze. "Your hand—look at your hand!"

Ryu glanced down.

His skin was hardening. The flesh of his palm had turned grey-white and stone-like, with cracks spreading outward from where the sage chakra entered. Patches of petrified skin crawled up his wrist like frost on glass.

- Cell mutation detected: epidermis layer

- Petrification detected

- WARNING: Transformation threshold approaching

The euphoria shifted. Cold numbness replaced the pleasant tingling.

-Petrification rate: accelerating rapidly

-Projected time to irreversible damage: critical threshold imminent

-[RECOMMENDATION: Immediate withdrawal required]

Ryu started to pull back, but Taro's chakra ropes were faster. They materialised and wrapped around his arm with surprising gentleness, yanking him from the metal before he could fully react.

Patches of petrified skin covered his palm and lower wrist, completely hardened—no pain, but no sensation either. Nerve endings calcified, blood flow stopped, and tissue transformed into something that resembled granite more than flesh. The chakra he had absorbed soon began leaving his body, as he had no control or training to hold it.

Taro stood ready, ropes still hovering nearby. "That was reckless." His tone was stern but not angry. Concerned. "You could have lost the entire arm."

"I wanted to test my limits," Ryu said calmly. "I know the risks of senjutsu chakra. The risks of senjutsu chakra include petrification, loss of self, and grotesque physical transformation. But I needed to know where my threshold was."

- [Super Healing] activated

Ryu flooded the petrified tissue with healing chakra. The stone skin cracked, then crumbled. Flakes of grey-white material fell away like ash, revealing fresh, healthy skin regenerating beneath.

Ryu flexed his restored fingers, testing the range of motion. Perfect. No residual damage.

"Now I know three things," he continued, meeting Taro's gaze. "First, I can absorb it. Second, my body transforms like anyone else's without proper training. Third, my healing factor can reverse the petrification if I catch it early enough."

"At least you learned without permanent damage." Taro gestured at the device.

Ryu turned his attention back to the device itself, examining it. "This device is flowing with senjutsu chakra."

He tapped the metal section of the device. "This metal is key, isn't it? It's not just a structural component."

Taro nodded. "Yes."

Ryu's curiosity intensified. "Where did this metal come from? I've never seen anything like it in my metallurgy studies." He ran his hand across the surface again, more carefully this time. "It behaves like chakra metal but with completely different properties."

Taro's expression became distant, reverent. "This metal doesn't exist naturally on Earth or the Moon."

Ryu waited.

"Lord Hamura, the progenitor, discovered it during his travels to an alternate dimension," Taro said.

"Alternate dimension," Ryu thought. "That explains it."

"Like chakra metal, it responds to chakra," Taro said. "But its true property is unique… the metal draws in senjutsu chakra from the environment."

A new thought occurred to him. His eyes narrowed as he looked at Taro. "If this metal naturally gathers sage chakra… Everyone in the main family uses senjutsu, right?"

"You deduce quickly." Taro nodded. "Yes. The main family trains in senjutsu, using the metal as a cultivation aid."

Taro's expression became reverent. "Lord Hamura recognised its value as well. He brought the metal back, hoping to create something useful from it."

The reverent tone deepened. "When Lord Hamura was old and fragile and at his deathbed, your ancestor and his son Ryuken created this device. He used Lord Hamura's Tenseigan—given willingly—to power the mechanism."

Ryu listened intently.

Taro continued. "It kept the moon's systems functional that were dependent on the Tenseigan of Lord Hamura. One pair of eyes powered the life support of an entire civilisation.

"And as your population grew," Ryu said quietly, "the load increased."

"Yes. The eyes of Lord Hamura – his sacrifice was not everlasting and your ancestor Ryuken predicted this." Taro's expression darkened. "He built the device keeping it in mind. But his solution needed more sacrifices. What started as one man's willing gift became a systematic requirement."

Ryu nodded slowly, pieces falling into place. "So the device acts as an amplifier—taking a dōjutsu's power and enhancing it to maximum potential."

"Correct. The device is named after the Tenseigan, not the actual Tenseigan. It magnifies the combined power of the Byakugan to a level comparable to the Tenseigan."

Taro looked at the device with reverence tinged with regret. "This is your ancestor's final masterpiece. And our people's greatest burden."

A question occurred to Ryu. The pieces fell into place.

"Wait." Ryu looked at Taro directly. "The moon has no life; therefore, no natural life energy."

Taro's eyebrows rose slightly. "Impressive reasoning. You are right. We are senjutsu users but not on the moon, where there is no senjutsu chakra originating from life."

"But I can use it on Earth, just like all members of the main family before me," Taro said. "The metal is an invaluable training tool to get used to the senjutsu chakra safely."

Ryu filed that information away. Another layer to the moon clan's dependence on the Tenseigan Energy Vessel—and a potential path forward for his own senjutsu training.

"Where is the sage chakra coming from?…You must be syphoning it from Earth through some kind of transmitter," Ryu continued. "There must be a receiver here and a broadcaster there for the transmission of senjutsu chakra."

"Yes. We have transmitters on Earth—we call them anchors," Taro confirmed. "There are a few scattered across the planet, hidden in remote locations. They collect ambient nature energy and transmit it here to the moon."

"Where is the largest transmitter located?" Ryu enquired without hesitation.

"The Land of Fire," Taro said. "Located in a lake that reflects the moon perfectly. It serves two purposes—transmitting energy and acting as a gateway."

"Gateway?"

"It's the easiest way to travel between Earth and the Moon," Taro explained. It requires significantly less chakra than direct teleportation."

"I'd like to examine this transmitter as well," Ryu said. "Understanding both ends of the system will help."

Taro considered, then nodded. "Very well. Let's go."

"Wait a minute," Ryu said and started scanning the entire device, jumping place to place.

-[Electromagnetic Vision] activated

-[Overclocking] enabled

The world shifted into layers of energy and frequency. The metal glowed with intricate patterns—spiralling flows etched into its structure. Energy pathways became visible: metal → device core → amplification chamber.

His eidetic memory captured the device's blueprint in perfect detail. Every seal, every connection, every component recorded for future reference.

"Blueprint stored," he thought. "I can analyse this later without needing direct access."

He looked at Taro. "Ready, let's go."

Taro and Ryu travelled to a new place nearby that looked like a lake—the only water source in the Moon civilisation. They use it sparingly and recycle all wasteful water.

"The lake connects directly to the Moon and Earth through the Tenseigan's power," Taro said.

"This lake," Ryu thought, recognition sparking. "I know this place… In the original timeline, Naruto used this cave to travel to the moon. So this is where it all connects."

"The transmitter is underwater on the other side of the lake," Taro said. "Follow me."

They dived into the lake. The first few metres felt like normal water—cold, pressing against skin, and resistant to movement. Then the environment shifted. Ryu no longer needed to hold his breath. The pressure eased. The "water" around them transformed into something else—a dense spatial medium, viscous yet breathable, neither liquid nor air.

"The first few metres are ordinary water," Taro explained. "Beyond that, you're moving through folded space. It feels like water, but you can breathe."

As they descended, Ryu noticed floating spheres glowing faintly in the medium.

"The lake reflects the mental state of anyone who dives into it," Taro said. "Those spheres are manifestations of memories from everyone who's passing the lake."

They continued descending.

At the lake's centre, suspended in the spatial medium, there was a large metal sphere. It was identical to the device on the moon, but its construction was different and smaller. Seals covering its surface were also different. Ryu scanned, analysed and memorised everything in his [Eidetic Memory].

-[Electromagnetic Vision] deactivated

-[Overclocking] deactivated

"The connection point," Ryu said. "Senjutsu chakra travels from here to the moon through spatial anchoring."

Taro gestured to an opening in the sphere. "This also serves as the door. Enter through here, and you emerge on the moon."

"A paired system," Ryu said. "Earth collects and sends. The moon receives and amplifies the Byakugan."

"Yes," Taro said.

"Are there any spare pieces of this metal available for experiments?" Ryu enquired at last.
