"So you exiled her?" The words came out slowly, more of a confirmation than a question.
The nod came stiffly, and the Head Enforcer laughed, although the sound was humourless and made something stir in my chest.
Her gaze was piercing and lacked any emotion, but her projection begged to differ. The feeling was painful like something was being stabbed into my chest, repeatedly.
"I take it was your doing?"
"Yes. I couldn't let him kill her."
Her next words stilled my muscles, as I locked eyes with her, "But Arc was disposable?"
"What? That's not what I said."
She shook her head, "Words are wind. Actions... that's what I look at. All of them... every single person he has executed wasn't worthy of your intervention. Who then is worthy?"
My hands balled into a fist at my sides. "Arc wanted to kill Malachai, and as for the others, they were disobedient. If he let them go with a slap on the wrist, anyone would think they could do whatever they liked."
