After a second day of searching without finding a single clue—and even losing track of Ember and Adrian—John's confidence had been worn down considerably.
This couldn't be right. This was supposed to be nothing more than an ordinary dungeon. No matter how difficult it was, there should always be clues for them to follow. Yet they hadn't even found the slightest trace of anyone suspicious.
If this kept up, they would become infected.
Today, something was only pounding frantically on the door. Tomorrow, that same door might be smashed open.
"Open the door! I already booked a house viewing!"
The voice outside grew increasingly shrill. Elle couldn't help frowning, her teeth grinding together with a screech that sounded like metal scraping against metal.
