He remained several steps behind the others, one hand pressed firmly against the frozen wound along his side. Irina's ice had stopped the bleeding for the moment, but it had done nothing to remove the pain. Every breath still pulled against the damaged flesh beneath his clothes, and whenever he moved too quickly, a sharp reminder shot through his ribs. Under normal circumstances, Liam would have already been charging toward whatever nightmare the guardian had placed in front of them, but this time he knew better.
His body wasn't the weapon they needed.
His mind was.
