James asked it in a way that was far too calm for what the situation actually was, like he was asking about something ordinary and simple, not the fact that a complete stranger, someone he had never even met before, had just jumped over the fence of his house and was now sitting right in front of him like it was completely acceptable, acting as if nothing strange had happened while casually eating pancakes.
Yeah, he was too comfortable, but at the same time it almost made sense, because the situation itself had already crossed so many lines that it stopped feeling real, and seeing her like this, still alive, still breathing, still sitting in front of him instead of being another dead body somehow made James even more relaxed.
