[ PROLOGUE: "ALEXANDER HELFER, AND THE CONTAINMENT SYSTEM" ]
"Fuck..."
Alexander, or better known simply by others as Alex---or asshole according to that one rude customer that he had the "pleasure" of serving once, years ago.
He could be seen contemplating life as he stares up into the clouds, with his back on the ground, and with the surrounding grass enveloping his body slightly.
Normally, the scene that he was in would look like it belongs in a museum, as a painting. Titled perhaps---if lucky---as "Serenity", or "Peace", or "Calm Man on Grass."
But no... this wasn't a normal scenario, as Alex's upper half and lower half are split. His body has been turned to shred, and with blood painting the surrounding grass into deep red---his blood, actually.
His upper half lazily stared at the sky, all the while his features showed shock, horror, and a tinge bit of regret; while his intestines on the other hand are leaking out, attached to nothing.
All the while nearby, his lower half is busy being munched on, like chewable cookies by a towering, dark, grotesque monster with a deer-like mask for a head.
Slender in appearance, though tanky also. This figure is commonly known as the Wendigo, a once thought of byproduct of folk tales, mysticism, and stories to scare children.
Created through the act of cannibalism, the monster only becomes a monster once humans abandon their humanity; or so, what those folklore used to say.
In reality though, this "Wendigo" is an anomalous entity that was created by people with too much time on their hands, on the Internet. And now, it became real.
Or the other possibility, in which, there's a reality somewhere where the anomalous entity known as The Wendigo Skull is an existing monster, with the same exact properties that was written by the same said people.
For Alex who knows the truth of the world, the universe, and everything in between. He very well knows that his situation is the latter, as he is one of those low-lives with too much time in their hands, and too much creativity.
He was an aspiring writer once. He wanted to create stories that would resonate with people, and also, to leave a legacy that other aspiring writers would look up too, and entertain themselves with. That was his goal.
It was simply unfortunate that he started his journey by writing SCP Articles, in which he tried and wrote a self insert. An anomalous entity that was from his world, knows the SCP Universe as fictional, and written by people.
Which had the unfortunate luck of encountering anomalous entities after another, with him dying each time, and resurrecting, before then finally being contained by the one and only Foundation.
Perhaps he had been cruel to his character when writing, and had made him encounter misfortune after misfortune for absolutely no reason other than entertainment. Which then led back to his current predicament.
As the unfortunate man who after his first death, kept getting resurrected, and been forced to encounter, interact, and try to contain dangerous monsters one after another.
Like for example, the latest anomalous entity that he had the unfortunate luck of encountering. SCP-323, which is busy munching away on his flesh and bones.
In the SCP Community, the monster is known by the codename Wendigo Skull. Yes, don't assume, the Entity itself isn't the grotesque, monster shaped human---no, that's a byproduct. The monster is instead the white, slightly cracked bone deer skull itself.
When without a host (SCP-323-1) the Entity will influence the people near it to wear it, which would then start the transformation and turn the innocent person into a flesh hungry monster that is constantly hungry for flesh.
A dangerous artifact that has the ability of mind control, and corruption. Something that no normal human could contain by themselves, which Alex is, and did try. Thus, he failed.
But luckily, even if he did fail in trying to contain the monster, the monster itself would die due to intense hunger after an hour or so of transformation; which relieved him.
At least the person-turned-monster wouldn't have to suffer that long, and the people living in the small city nearby wouldn't die due to his botched containment.
And he could take comfort in that, as he takes his last breath and dimming consciousness, all the while the shadowy figure of SCP-323-1---the monster he failed to contain---stands above him.

"-ESUS!"
Think instant respawn. That is what happened to Alex, as he feels whole again, with flesh, blood, and not limb, lying on the ground, dead. Everything even his clothes got reset.
His unruly black hair, which hadn't been cut for days now. His clothes, which are composed of a black plain t-shirt, baggy pants, an open-zipper green jacket, and worn hand-me-down shoes. All of those and more, are back, in one piece, like magic.
Like what he experienced minutes ago, which was absolute Hell, trying to run away from a monster in the middle of the forest, didn't happen in the first place. And was instead his mind playing tricks on him.
And one could easily believe that was what happened instead, if not for the dangerous heart rate of his which is threatening to jump out of his chest.
And because of the empty, white room-like hell he's in. And lastly, the mystical floating transparent, slightly green panel that's floating in front of his face; saying.
[ MISSION FAILED: THE PLAYER WASN'T ABLE TO CONTAIN SCP-323 AND WAS INSTEAD KILLED BY THE ENTITY ]
Alex who's busy trying to calm his heart down only momentarily glanced at the text, which he had been seeing now for the seventh time now for the seventh day. Which annoyed him.
Another Entity, another failure. And for him, that means he wouldn't be able to further advance his System and gain rewards alongside it; as he did in fact, failed.
After some time, he was able to steady his heart rate, his focus, and clouded mind. As he sighs, and gives a barely contained grumble.
"Hah... another failure, great!"
His legs which had been shaking in horror due to the recent experience of his finally gave up, as he then sat on the floor---the pure, very white, made out of unknown material floor.
His backside landing with a thud, as he clutches his head, trying to shut down the impending headache that's trying to enter his focus. "Why won't you let me die!"
Alex was cursed both with infinite rebirth---which others could call immortality---and the one and only Containment System engraved deep into his skull, forcing him to try and contain monsters.
With his infinite rebirth, the experience and pain that he felt, the anguish, and mental fatigue isn't erased even after death; even after his body reconstructs and the Mission fails.
No. Unfortunately, the trauma stays with him. The pain does stop, like, the pain of personally getting ripped apart by a sharp clawed beast, or by being tackled by him.
The memory though, the one that is constantly being overseen by the brain; the trauma, that one... it constantly stays, and hunts him. Like a constantly dangling noose.
For seven days he experienced seven vastly different encounters, with monsters that vary in appearance but overall the same in their hostility against him. And for human life.
First Mission, bright and optimistic, he was sent by the System to fight a town of Zombies alone and kill them---thus eradicating them, and containing them in his small world.
Innocent, and with the childish thought that he had the Protagonist Luck on his side. He was then immediately infected, and was then swarmed by hordes of Zombies which then made quick work of him.
Horrified by the act done to him, which was slowly being eaten to death without being able to do a thing to stop it. He was shook, and didn't want to continue his so-called Missions.
Alex even wanted to abandon the System all together, and abandon his so-called "Immortality". Something that millions, if not, billions of people had yearn for.
But the System didn't care, and after 24 hours, it then gave him another Mission. And this one was to contain a group of anomalous entities hiding deep in the forest.
For a normal guy like Alex, the thought of encountering a group of alive skeletons, that would absolutely be hostile to him, was horrifying. Less horrifying than Zombies, but still horrifying to some degree.
But faced with no other choice, Alex ultimately decided to bite the bullet and try to contain the said group of monsters on his own. Even if he didn't want to.
The System unfortunately seems to have left out the fact that the group of skeletons he had needed to contain was yes, skeletons, but aren't the normal, fantasy-like skeletons he expected and had seen thousands of times.
But are instead towering behemoths that are the same size as tall 30 to 40 floored buildings tall, which spawns only at night, and roams the forest; hungry for souls to consume.
It was only after thrashing around, crying, and being eaten to death by one of those said monsters did he finally learn the SCP designation number of those anomalies.
SCP-2863 also known as Gashadokuro by the locals. Though he doesn't know everything about them, he knows enough.
He knows that they are created by Japanese folklore, but unlike his past world, they are real in this one. And that, they can cause the extermination of humanity if left untouched.
Sadly, he didn't have the fire power to contain them, or even a fighting chance, a cheat code, or a golden finger that makes him overpowered against monsters. No, he received nothing.
Other than his infinitely regenerating body, and a System that cares not for his felings---which feels more like a downside rather than an advantage---he had nothing.
After another 24 hours, he encountered the Shy Guy---also known as SCP-096---in the middle of the fuckin' snowing mountains and was killed after he spotted it.
It cried all and all, and due to the System not giving the full information about the monster that he would be encountering, he was wholly unprepared. Thus, another failure.
Another 24 hours, he was led around in an abandoned warehouse by hunting, distorted human voices; before then getting eaten by red, spiky, untamed anomalous hounds.
Another 24 hours, he was assimilated into an hivemind of some sorts in the sewer system under New York City (NYC), turned and twisted by the living red walls of the sewer.
By The Flesh That Hates, which is the name of the anomaly given by the Foundation. The latter of which he hadn't yet the possibility of encountering, which should be a great thing.
After another 24 hours, he was then sent on a fetch quest by the System, to retrieve a skull in the forest. It just so left out the fact that the said Skull was currently being worn.
Or that, the Skull is an anomalous object that can corrupt the psychee, and is the notorious SCP-323, also known as Wendigo Skull. When he found out, he ran, and was subsequently chased, tackled, and cannibalized.
In seven days he had the unfortunate luck to encounter: SCP-008 Zombie Plague, SCP-2863 Gashadokuro, SCP-4666 The Yule Man, SCP-096 The Shy Guy, SCP-939 With Many Voices, SCP-610 The Flesh That Hates, and the latest SCP-323 Wendigo Skull.
And all those encounters were forced by the System, and in each one, he was brutally massacred without the chance of fighting back, or even, wounding his target.
The closest he had to fighting back was the latest anomalous entity that he fought, and even that was still stacked against him. With him only having about 3-4% of containment.
Which is high in comparison to his rough estimate of 1% containment rate against the With Many Voices, and the 0.0001% estimate against the other five anomalies.
And unless the System had a change of heart and gives him an advantage against the subsequent SCPs that he'll be encountering, then that estimate wouldn't change.
And the Cycle that he had the unfortunate luck of being stuck in, wouldn't be chaning any time soon. Which is unfortunate... for him.
"Curse my luck. Damn good for nothing fuckin' System."
