Chapter 62 - 62

The examination season began.

Every morning, students gathered outside their examination halls with books still open in their hands, revising formulas, definitions, and important points one last time.

Akshata smiled as she watched everyone.

"No matter how much we prepare," she whispered to Manu, "everyone studies until the last minute."

Manu laughed.

"That's what makes it an exam."

When the first bell rang, the students entered their classrooms.

The invigilator distributed the question papers.

"You may begin."

The room fell completely silent except for the sound of pages turning and pens writing across answer sheets.

Akshata read every question carefully before writing her answers.

She remembered her father's advice.

"Don't rush. Understand the question first."

One examination followed another.

Mathematics.

Science.

Social Science.

English.

Kannada.

Each day she returned home, discussed a few answers with Manu, and then immediately began preparing for the next paper instead of worrying about the previous one.

Within two weeks, the examinations were over.

The house suddenly became lively again.

The books returned to the shelves, and everyone finally relaxed after months of preparation.

A few weeks later, the school announced that the results would be declared on Friday morning.

The corridors were filled with excitement and nervous laughter.

Students gathered around the notice board as teachers carried the result sheets.

The class teacher smiled.

"I know all of you are eager."

"But one at a time."

She began calling the students.

One by one, report cards were distributed.

Finally—

"Akshata."

She walked forward politely.

"Yes, ma'am."

The teacher handed over the report card with a warm smile.

"Excellent work."

"You've balanced your academics and extracurricular activities very well."

Akshata thanked her and looked at the report card.

Overall Percentage: 95%

For a moment, she simply stared at it.

A smile slowly spread across her face.

Her hard work had paid off.

Manu also received his report card with good marks, and the cousins were happy with their own results as well.

When Akshata reached home, Nagaraju was waiting eagerly.

"Well?"

Without saying a word, she handed him the report card.

He adjusted his glasses and looked at the marks carefully.

Then he smiled proudly.

"Ninety-five percent."

He looked at her.

"Very well done, Akshu."

Her mother hugged her happily.

"I knew you could do it."

Manu grinned.

"Akka, now Appa has no excuse. We deserve a celebration."

Everyone laughed.

That evening, Nagaraju took the family out for dinner.

While they were eating, he raised a glass of fruit juice.

"This celebration isn't only for good marks."

"It's for discipline."

"You managed school, sports, dance, language classes, fitness, and your professional assignments."

"And despite all that, you never neglected your studies."

He looked at both his children.

"Whatever profession you choose in life, never stop learning."

"Education doesn't end with examinations."

"It continues throughout life."

Akshata nodded with a smile.

"I'll remember that, Appa."

As she looked once more at her report card that night, she didn't just see 95%.

She saw months of effort, careful planning, supportive parents, dedicated teachers, and the determination to give her best in everything she chose to do.

It reminded her that dreams and education could grow side by side when guided by discipline and perseverance.

Summer vacation had just begun when another email from IMG arrived.

Akshata opened it eagerly.

It was from her booking coordinator.

Subject: Back-to-School Campaign Casting – Confirmed Booking

She quickly read through the details before running to her father.

"Appa!"

Nagaraju looked up from the script he was reading.

"What happened this time?"

She handed him the email with a bright smile.

"They selected me for the Back-to-School campaign!"

He read it carefully.

The same New York clothing brand had once again chosen Akshata, this time for their upcoming Back-to-School Campaign.

The campaign was scheduled to be photographed in New York over three days.

Nagaraju smiled proudly.

Akshata nodded happily.

"I'll do even better this time."

Since the schools were closed for the summer vacation, there was no need to request leave.

This time, Nagaraju decided to accompany his daughter himself.

He looked at his wife.

"You've taken care of everything during the previous assignments."

She smiled.

"Now it's your turn."

Three days later, father and daughter boarded their flight to New York.

During the journey, Her spacewas wasn't discussing fame or success.

Instead, he spoke about professionalism.

"Host."

"Hmm?"

"Every assignment teaches something."

"Observe how the creative team works."

"Notice how photographers communicate."

"Watch how the client makes decisions."

"You'll learn more by observing than by talking."

She replied in her mind yes.

"I'll pay attention."

After arriving in New York, they checked into a rented apartment close to the studio.

The following morning, they reached the studio before the scheduled call time.

Rachel welcomed them warmly.

"Welcome back, Akshata."

"And welcome, Mr. Nagaraju."

"It's good to see both of you again."

She handed over the production schedule.

"This campaign is designed around students returning to school after summer."

"We're creating images for catalogues, store displays, posters, and online advertisements."

The wardrobe stylist showed Akshata the outfits.

A denim jacket.

A checked shirt.

Comfortable jeans.

A backpack.

Canvas shoes.

Another setup included a school cardigan, notebooks, headphones, and colourful stationery.

The stylist smiled.

"We're telling the story of students looking forward to a new school year."

Unlike the previous campaign, this shoot involved several young models.

Some scenes showed friends walking into school together.

Others featured students sitting in a classroom, reading books in the library, laughing in the cafeteria, or walking through a school corridor with backpacks.

The photographer explained each scene before photographing it.

"This isn't about posing."

"It's about creating genuine moments."

"Talk to each other."

"Smile naturally."

"Pretend you're meeting your friends after the holidays."

Music played softly throughout the shoot, helping everyone stay relaxed.

Between takes, the young models introduced themselves and chatted while the crew adjusted the lighting and prepared the next set.

One outdoor scene was photographed in front of a traditional American school building.

The art director smiled as he reviewed the monitor.

"Exactly."

"It feels energetic."

"It feels authentic."

Nagaraju quietly watched from behind the monitor.

He noticed something that impressed him.

The entire production worked like a well-organized team.

Every department respected the others.

Nobody rushed.

Nobody shouted.

Each person understood their responsibility.

He smiled to himself.

"This is why professionalism matters," he thought.

By the end of the third day, the campaign had been completed successfully.

The creative director walked over to Akshata.

"Thank you."

"You've been punctual, cooperative, and consistent throughout the project."

"We've enjoyed working with you."

Akshata smiled.

"Thank you. I enjoyed every moment."

As they left the studio, Nagaraju placed a hand gently on her shoulder.

"You know..."

She looked at him.

"The first time we came to New York, we were hoping someone would notice your potential."

He smiled proudly.

"Now they're calling you back because they trust your work."

Akshata smiled as they walked toward the taxi.

For her, this assignment was more than another campaign.

It was proof that professionalism, discipline, and a willingness to learn could turn a single opportunity into many more.

The following day, father and daughter boarded their flight back to India, carrying with them not just memories of another successful campaign, but also the confidence that Akshata was steadily building a reputation as a dependable young professional.
