Orin couldn't help but let out a small chuckle when he noticed the sign inside the building.
NPC
Nexus Pokémon Centre
He wasn't sure whether it was an intentional joke by whoever designed the place—or if they genuinely didn't realize how it sounded.
"I've… never been to a Pokémon Center before," Victor muttered as they all stepped inside.
The interior opened into a wide, pristine white hall. Decorative plants lined the walls, with clean seating benches arranged neatly along the sides. At the far end stood a broad reception desk staffed by nurses in familiar pink-and-white uniforms.
To the right, a spacious wing glowed beneath a holographic sign labeled Pokémon Care.
To the left, an equally wide area was marked General Care.
This wasn't Orin's first time inside a Pokémon Center. Back in Saffron City, he had visited one countless times. Despite the name, Pokémon Centers weren't just for Pokémon—they were more like full-fledged hospitals, complete with specialized treatment areas for both humans and Pokémon.
The Saffron City Pokémon Center was far larger than this one, spanning multiple floors. Orin couldn't help but recall the kind Nurse Joy he used to see there. She would always give him a piece of chocolate whenever he visited—a red one called Sweet Heart. It was surprisingly delicious, and supposedly good for your health too.
Just as Orin was about to head toward the reception desk, Nemona stepped ahead confidently and made a beeline for the Pokémon Care wing.
"I had Pawmi healed here just about an hour ago," she said casually, glancing back at them.
With that, the rest of them followed after her.
"There are already quite a few students here," Victor said, looking around. "Do you think they're all here to heal their Pokémon too?"
"I can see the Bug Catcher duo over there," Orin replied, spotting them slumped on a sofa across the hall.
"I still don't understand why so many people are obsessed with Pokémon battles," Lisia said, shaking her head. "I'd never want anything to hurt my dear Ali."
"There's nothing more thrilling than a Pokémon battle," Nemona said with a wide grin. "That rush you feel while fighting—it's addictive!"
"I'm sure performing on stage with your partner Pokémon gives a similar rush," Lisia shot back with a smug smile.
Before the two could spiral into another debate, Orin quickly walked ahead to the counter.
He had expected to see Nurse Joy behind it—but instead, two Chansey, both wearing nurse caps, stood there cheerfully.
"Welcome to the Nexus Pokémon Center!" a robotic Nurse Joy's voice announced from the counter. "To use our services, please scan your ID card."
"Chansey!"
Both Pokémon smiled warmly and gestured toward the scanner with their stubby paws.
"Oh—hello. Do I scan it here?" Orin asked, placing his Pokédex over a small device marked with glowing holographic text: SCAN.
Identity confirmed.
We can restore your tired Pokémon to full health.
Would you like to proceed?
A green checkmark appeared along with several options: Heal, Grooming, Massage Care, General Checkup, Status Ailment Treatment, Move Assessment, Bond Evaluation, Diet & Nutrition Planning.
Orin didn't hesitate. He selected the first option.
Heal.
"Please place the Poké Balls of the Pokémon you wish to heal," the female Nurse Joy voice instructed.
"Chansey!"
One of the Chansey stepped forward and slid out a white tray with six circular slots.
"Oh… so I just place it here," Orin muttered. He took out Riolu's Poké Ball, expanded it to regular size, and gently set it into one of the slots.
"Um… please heal her," he added quietly, unable to hide the worry in his voice.
"Chansey~"
The Chansey patted her chest reassuringly and smiled before carefully lifting the tray and walking into a back room.
"Your token number has been sent to your phone," the robotic voice continued. "You will be notified as soon as your Pokémon has fully recovered. Please be ready to collect them."
"Alright…" Orin replied, still feeling slightly awkward responding to a disembodied Nurse Joy voice.
"Aww, look! The Chansey are the nurses here—so cuuute!" Lisia squealed as she rushed up beside him. "Can I take a selfie with you?" she asked excitedly, already slipping behind the counter.
"Chanseyyy?!"
The Chansey looked flustered, cheeks puffing slightly, but Lisia somehow managed to snap a selfie anyway.
"I thought there'd be an actual Nurse Joy here," Victor said, glancing around curiously.
"Maybe it's their lunch break?" Orin guessed with a shrug.
While they were chatting, Nemona had also handed over Pawmi to be healed.
"I'm honestly glad students don't have to pay for healing their pokémon here," Nemona said with a grin. "Otherwise I'd go broke in no time."
"Yeah, the Pokémon Center back in Saffron City was pretty infamous for its prices," Orin replied with a wry smile.
"Are the other services free too?" Lisia asked curiously. "Like Pokémon massages? I'm sure Ali would love that."
"I heard everything here is free for students," Nemona said as she started walking ahead. "Anyway, healing should take around ten to fifteen minutes. Why don't we hang out in the lounge? There's even a foosball table inside the room."
"Sure," Orin nodded, glancing once more at the holographic screen displaying their token numbers.
As they exited the Pokémon Care wing, a sudden buzz of excitement drew their attention toward the General Care side of the building.
"What's happening over there?" Victor muttered, peering past the crowd.
"Let's go see," Lisia said with a grin, already moving ahead.
As Orin followed, he noticed the atmosphere immediately—students whispering excitedly, several of them holding up their phones as if trying to discreetly record something.
"What's got everyone so worked up?" Victor asked, glancing around.
"…I think I can guess," Nemona said with a wry smile.
Before anyone could press her for an explanation, a calm, amused female voice spoke up.
"Oh? Why are you back here so soon, Nemona?"
Orin froze.
He turned toward the voice—and his eyes widened.
An incredibly beautiful woman had approached them. She had long blue hair flowing effortlessly down her back and bright light-brown eyes. A white lab coat hung open over a low pink top, revealing ample cleavage, while her short dark red skirt showed off her plump white thighs and long, shapely legs, finished with white heels.
Orin could confidently say that this curvaceous, scantily dressed lady was the sexiest woman he had ever seen—across both of his lives.
"Ah, Aki-sensei… nothing serious," Nemona replied with a sheepish smile. "I was just showing my friends around the Pokémon Center."
"Oh?" The woman tilted her head slightly, studying them with interest, one finger resting thoughtfully against her chin. "Nemona's friends?"
She smiled warmly.
"Hello. I'm Aki Nijou. I'm in charge of the General Health Department here at Nexus Academy, and I also teach some health classes for first-year students. You can just call me Aki-sensei, like Nemona does."
"Isn't she a bit too beautiful to be just a professor?" Lisia muttered, eyes wide.
"S-she's a p-professor here?" Victor echoed, stuttering as his cheeks flushed red, quickly lowering his gaze.
And honestly, Orin couldn't blame him.
When he had seen Lorelei on stage earlier, he had already thought that the professors and teachers at Nexus dressed far more freely than expected—but still Aki-sensei was on a completely different level of hotness.
Hearing her name and taking another look, Orin felt a strange sense of déjà vu.
Aki Nijou…
He couldn't help but think of the Aki Nijou he knew from Maken-ki—the infamous, dangerously attractive school nurse. The resemblance was seriously uncanny.
As they introduced themselves and chatted briefly, Orin became more convinced that she really might be the same Aki Nijou. She just like her anime counterpart seemed completely unaware of how inappropriately she was dressed, and she didn't appear bothered at all by the nearby students openly ogling her—some of them even shamelessly taking pictures.
Internally, Orin was shocked. Finding someone from an entirely different anime franchise in this Pokémon world was the last thing he had expected. Had she been transmigrated here like him… or was she simply someone who looked identical?
Either way, his first priority was clear: get her away from this crowd of overly excited students.
"Aki-sensei," Orin said smoothly, "I actually have a lot of questions about the Pokémon Center. We were just heading to the lounge area—why don't you join us?"
He shot Lisia a quick look.
"Yes! Please come with us, Sensei," Lisia immediately added, gently steering Aki-sensei away from the crowd.
"Alright, alright," Aki-sensei laughed, allowing herself to be led along. "I suppose I can take a short break. Young people really do have too much energy."
Most of the gathered students were too shy to follow them, so the group quickly moved toward the nearby lounge area, with Nemona naturally taking the lead.
The lounge was spacious and comfortable, furnished with multiple sofas, chairs, and low tables. A row of vending machines lined one wall, softly humming in the background.
Once they settled onto a pair of sofas, Nemona casually mentioned how she had met Aki-sensei about an hour earlier when she had first come in.
Aki-sensei folded her arms and looked at her with narrowed eyes.
"Then tell me the truth—why are you back here so soon?"
"Umm… I may have had a pretty intense Pokémon battle," Nemona admitted with a wry smile. "So I had to come back and heal my partner."
Aki-sensei let out a long sigh.
"I did tell you to take it easy, didn't I? It's only your first day."
She shook her head lightly.
"But I had a feeling you wouldn't take my advice seriously."
"Haha… sorry, Sensei," Nemona said with an awkward laugh. "I might've gotten a little carried away. But it was a really hearty battle, so I'm satisfied now."
Aki-sensei clicked her tongue softly.
"Just do things in moderation. I know Valor kids are always itching for a fight, but you have to think about your Pokémon's health. Repeated battles take a toll—physically and mentally."
"I'll keep that in mind, Sensei," Nemona replied, nodding seriously.
"Instead of obsessing over Pokémon battles," Aki-sensei said with an easy smile, "you young people should be thinking about love and relationships at this age."
Orin blinked, giving her a strange look.
Shouldn't a professor be telling us to focus on studying?
"Aki-sensei sounds like a romantic," Lisia said curiously. "You must have a lot of admirers, right?"
"Hehe, stop teasing," Aki-sensei replied with a light sigh, waving it off. "No one's interested in an older woman like me."
Then she glanced around at them with a knowing smile.
"You, on the other hand, are all young, energetic, and full of potential. I wouldn't be surprised if some of you ended up as couples sooner than you think. My advice? Especially to both you girls, don't be too passive like me—regrets come easily if you hesitate too much."
Orin almost wanted to give Aki-sensei a thumbs-up. She was actively trying to play matchmaker, after all. Glancing at both Lisia and Nemona—each attractive in her own way—he couldn't help but think that he wouldn't mind ending up with either of them… or even both. For a brief moment, he found himself daydreaming about finally breaking free from his long streak of being single.
"I'm going to be an idol, Aki-sensei," Lisia declared confidently, standing with a hand over her chest. "And an idol can't give her heart to just one person. I'll be sharing my love equally with all my fans—so sorry, boys."
She punctuated it with a playful wink.
Victor, who had already been sitting quietly, turned even redder and stared intently at the floor, clearly wishing this topic would end.
Nemona, meanwhile, glanced at Orin with a grin.
"I can't say I'm not interested in you, Orin—but not like that. I want you to become my rival."
Orin couldn't help but smile wryly as his hopes were dashed almost immediately—one girl had declared herself devoted to a life without romance, while the other wanted him as a rival instead. Still, he knew getting a girlfriend was never going to be easy, so he wasn't too discouraged by it.
"Alright, alright," Aki-sensei said with a sigh, waving her hand lightly. "I suppose young people have their own ideas about relationships. An older woman like me probably shouldn't be sticking her nose into your affairs."
Orin leaned forward slightly.
"Aki-sensei, you keep calling yourself old," he said gently, taking her hands in his for a moment, "but to me, you're a vibrant and beautiful woman. I don't think you should count yourself out so easily—there are plenty of men who'd be lucky to have you as their partner."
What is this boy saying…?
A handsome young man like him couldn't possibly be interested in someone like me… right?
Hearing her thoughts, Orin almost smiled.
He now was sure that Aki-sensei was unaware of how fucking hot she was. Which meant that he had a real chance at getting an older hot professor as his girlfriend.
"He's right, Sensei," Nemona added with a grin. "If you joined one of our classes, I doubt anyone would even notice you're older."
"Yes! Actually, I was wondering about your skincare routine," Lisia said cheerfully, looping her arm around Aki-sensei's.
Orin could no longer hear Aki-sensei's thoughts once she gently withdrew her hands, but the way she occasionally glanced at him while chatting with the girls told him enough.
His words had reached her.
There was no rush. Orin knew he couldn't win her over that easily—there was an age gap, and she was a professor at the academy, after all.
Still, he felt genuinely grateful to Lisia. Thanks to her, he now had Aki-sensei's personal number. He had even received her permission to call or message anytime if it was related to medical concerns.
Orin was quite certain that a perfectly healthy young man remaining single for so long qualified as a serious issue—one he would be more than happy to discuss with Aki-sensei.
After all, she was a professional.
And Orin was more than willing to let her thoroughly examine his problems.
