Chapter 917 - Kale vs Son Goku

Faced with hundreds upon hundreds of Kales, Son Goku — never the sharpest tool in the shed — couldn't come up with anything clever. He swung his extending Nyoibo in wide sweeping arcs, mowing down clone after clone. Sadly, it was about as useful as bailing out a sinking ship with a teacup.

Seizing the opening, Future Trunks and Future Gohan teamed up again and eliminated Black-clothed Piccolo — who had been gathering energy to fire his Special Beam Cannon, only to have the Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu dazzle his eyes completely, leaving him with no target to lock onto.

The battlefield shifted once again.

Trunks, Black-clothed Son Gohan, and Son Goku versus Future Trunks, Future Gohan, and Kale.

Ino was beside herself with delight. Kale had deployed the Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu at the most perfectly judged moment — a beat too early or too late would have ruined it, but the timing had been absolutely spot-on.

A Legendary Super Saiyan truly was born to fight. That kind of battle instinct — reading the moment and deploying the right technique at the right time — was something Ino herself didn't possess.

The price Kale paid was an enormous drain on her stamina. But a Legendary Super Saiyan's recovery speed was naturally faster than an ordinary Saiyan's.

Trunks's Super Saiyan God and Son Goku's Super Saiyan 3 were no different — both burned through stamina at a punishing rate. At this point it came down to one thing: who could recover faster.

"Is Kale going to be okay?" Sakura watched the battlefield with a worried frown. As Naruto's teammate, she knew the Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu well enough — it had obvious strengths, but its weaknesses were just as glaring.

Springing it on someone without warning was incredibly effective, yes. But the stamina cost was staggering. Creating a thousand shadow clones meant dividing your own stamina equally a thousand ways. With only one-thousandth of her normal energy left in her body, Kale was in a genuinely precarious position no matter how you looked at it.

"Don't worry. I am, after all, the God of Shinobi. The technique the Second Hokage invented has already been improved by me." Ino spoke with no small amount of pride.

The part about dividing the stamina evenly was unchanged — but after that, any stamina remaining in a shadow clone that hadn't been fully expended could be reclaimed when the clone dispersed, the same way the original body received memories and physical insights. A full recovery wasn't realistic, but getting back twenty or thirty percent was perfectly doable.

Only six fighters remained. Future Trunks's group of three was still operating as a unit, so the rest of the match didn't require much brainwork — and for Saiyans, brainwork was a genuine chore.

They each picked their opponent.

Future Trunks versus Trunks.

Future Gohan versus Black-clothed Son Gohan.

Kale versus Son Goku.

One-on-one duels — the only way to fight that truly suited a Saiyan.

The two captains, both named Trunks, drew their swords simultaneously and crashed together in a flurry of fierce, precise exchanges.

Both Son Gohans were cautious by nature. They circled each other carefully, probing for openings while regulating their breathing and building up their reserves.

But the most explosive fight of all was Kale versus Son Goku.

Kale had already released the Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu. The massive stamina expenditure had left the girl drenched in sweat, her breathing slightly ragged.

Unlike the Son Goku from Ino's timeline, this Time Patrol Son Goku still carried the golden staff from his childhood. He wore no Turtle School gi — instead he was dressed in a red jacket, blue leg wraps, and black cloth shoes. Facing Kale, a Legendary Super Saiyan, he transformed into Super Saiyan 3 and chose to play defense.

At the same level of Super Saiyan 3, a Legendary Super Saiyan's variant outclassed an ordinary Saiyan's. Goku was smart enough not to go head-to-head; instead he stalled for time, waiting for a breakthrough on one of the other two fronts so he could pile on with numbers.

Kale's thinking ran parallel. She wanted to use her overwhelming attack power to steamroll this Goku and then go support the others.

The moment they clashed, both went all out.

Goku's Nyoibo jabbed, smashed, and swept in beautifully refined combinations. Channeling his ki into the staff and exploiting its extend-and-retract properties, he could feint in one direction and strike in another, leveraging the weapon's enormous reach to hold the line for a surprisingly long time.

Then, to Goku's wide-eyed disbelief, Kale let out another roar. Her body shot up twenty centimeters. Her knotted muscles didn't swell further — they actually tightened and refined — and her hair, already reaching her waist, cascaded all the way down to her ankles.

She played her final card. Kale entered the Legendary Super Saiyan God form.

"You have a Super Saiyan God transformation too?!" Goku's jaw dropped. By the time he thought to change tactics, it was already too late.

Kale's right hand extended outward — just like Zamasu — and the energy blazing around it condensed into a solid ki blade radiating savage power, its cutting edge razor-sharp.

The arena was wide enough for her to swing freely. Her ki blade lashed out with killing ferocity, and Goku was forced to throw everything he had into just staying alive.

But against the full-powered assault of a Legendary Super Saiyan God, Goku's Super Saiyan 3 was comprehensively outmatched — in strength, in speed, in endurance, in every dimension.

The more Kale fought, the more fired up she became. The Legendary Super Saiyan genes running through her ignited completely. Under a relentless, unbroken storm of attacks, Goku lost all ability to fight back.

Monster. This girl was an absolute monster.

Super Saiyan 3 burned through stamina fast enough on its own. In fewer than twenty exchanges, exhaustion was already weighing down every limb. His shoulders, arms, and cheeks were marked with cuts of varying depth where Kale's ki blade had found its way through.

None of the wounds were fatal — but the steady, continuous blood loss made the stamina drain even worse.

Son Goku, in any timeline, had never been on speaking terms with the concept of clever. But they all shared one defining quality: the harder you knocked them down, the harder they came back.

He let out a battle cry and drove his staff into a wide "Sweep a Thousand Armies" arc. Kale moved to catch the Nyoibo — but this was a feint, the kind a true martial artist knew how to set. The staff snapped back with a shudder and then lunged forward like a spear, driving straight for Kale's heart.

In the spectator area, Ino rose instinctively to her feet. Spatial energy gathered in her hand, primed but not yet released — the moment Kale was in real danger, she would pull her daughter out immediately.

As a Saiyan who appeared only once in a millennium, Kale's terrifying battle instincts more than made up for any technical shortcomings. Pushed to her absolute limit, she twisted sideways at the last instant, then lifted her left foot and stomped down hard on the tip of the Nyoibo.

Goku yanked, flicked, and dragged, trying every trick he knew to reclaim his weapon. But all his effort sank into Kale's foot like a stone into the sea — no matter what he tried, the Nyoibo didn't budge.

He made the decisive call without hesitation: abandon the staff and fall back. That was the only reason he managed to dodge Kale's follow-through straight punch, which came crashing in with the weight of mountains.

Without his weapon, Goku's disadvantage grew stark.

Both of them launched their attacks at the same moment.

Kale exploited her height and reach advantage. She raised her right arm vertically, a deadly killing aura radiating from the ki blade, and lunged forward in a bow stance — driving the blade straight at Goku's throat.

Goku deflected with a sideways elbow, slamming the thrust aside with force, his body naturally rotating thirty degrees with the redirect. Then he drove his fist straight into Kale's face.

Kale pulled back, stepped half a pace, and swung her arm out in a horizontal slash across his midsection.

Goku used a technique resembling a tiger's roll-and-spring — his body leaped, turning lightly in midair — while his right hand, five fingers pressed flat together, chopped down toward Kale's neck.

His response was clean, his counterattack executed with absolute precision. But for just one instant, he was a fraction too slow.

Kale's foot connected with his waist and launched him — still transformed into Super Saiyan 3 — like a cannonball, sending him flying more than three hundred meters.
