Chapter 503 - Chapter 506: Unova, Ideals, Truth, and Balance

"Unova is a beautiful and harmonious land.

According to legend, Unova was created by an incredibly powerful Dragon-type Pokémon. Because of this, the people of Unova have always held a special affection for Dragon-type Pokémon. The world-famous Village of Dragons is also located in the Unova region.

After creating Unova, that great dragon built the Dragonspiral Tower in a mysterious part of the region and made it its home.

However, as Unova's population grew, war eventually followed. Before long, the entire region was engulfed in conflict and flames.

At that time, two individuals known as heroes appeared. They found the Dragonspiral Tower and successfully persuaded the great dragon that had created Unova to aid them. With the dragon's help, the two heroes ended the wars and worked together to build the Unova that exists today.

But afterward, disagreements arose between the two heroes because of their differing beliefs. Influenced by the divergence in their ideals, the great dragon eventually split into three separate dragons.

They became the Black Dragon, Zekrom, representing Unova's Ideals; the White Dragon, Reshiram, representing Unova's Truth; and the Ice Dragon, Kyurem, representing Unova's Balance.

Over the following years, the two heroes rode the Black and White Dragons into battle countless times. Yet neither side could gain the upper hand over the other. Eventually, after reflecting upon themselves, the two heroes realized the futility of their conflict. They reconciled and made peace, while the Black and White Dragons transformed into Dragon Stones and were placed in separate locations to slumber.

As for Kyurem, it departed on its own from the very beginning. It is said to dwell within a deep cavern somewhere, though no one has ever seen it.

And so, under the protection of the heroes and the dragons, Unova's history continued to flourish. Today, Unova has become a prosperous and thriving region.

So, what do you think, sir? That's the portion of Unova's history that I know. Are you satisfied?"

Accompanied by the gentle sea breeze came the waitress's sweet voice.

At that moment, Liam slowly swallowed the last bite of food in his mouth before replying.

"Yes, very much so. Thank you for your hard work. The legend was fascinating, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere is wonderful. I already feel much less tired from my journey. But may I ask one more question?"

"Of course. Please go ahead."

"Um... do you happen to sell maps here? The kind that covers the entire region. An electronic version would be even better."

After arriving in Unova, Liam had discovered that although his tracker could still search for targets, it no longer contained accurate regional maps. He had noticed a data port on the device and suspected new maps could be imported into it, which was why he asked.

If only the navigation map provided by his system covered a larger area, none of this would have been necessary. Thinking about it made him sigh.

"A map? We do have maps, but they're mostly local ones. Most are tourist maps covering Nuvema Town and the nearby areas. If you're looking for a map of the entire region, I'd recommend visiting Professor Juniper's Laboratory in town. Professor Juniper should have comprehensive regional maps, and probably electronic versions as well."

The waitress thought for a moment before answering.

"Oh? The laboratory? I see. Thank you very much for the information. I'd like the check, please."

"Thank you for dining with us. We hope to see you again!"

After leaving the seaside restaurant, Liam did not head toward Professor Juniper's Laboratory.

This time, he intended to keep a low profile and avoid attracting the attention of the Unova League. Going to Professor Juniper's lab and effectively announcing his identity was the last thing he wanted to do.

In reality, his question had only been meant to confirm whether such maps existed.

"Exchange for a complete electronic map of Unova. Cost: 100 Exchange Points. That's basically nothing. Done."

Looking at the electronic map listed in the system store for only 100 Exchange Points, Liam purchased it without hesitation.

A USB drive immediately appeared inside his portable storage space.

He then plugged the drive into the tracker's data port.

Beep. Beep. Beep.

The screen displayed a data transfer icon. Several minutes later, the import process was complete.

"Alright, finished. Let's try it again."

Beep...

As Liam pressed the button on top of the tracker, the previously blank screen instantly filled with roads, buildings, and various location markers.

He then habitually pressed a few more buttons, expanding the search radius to its maximum range of two hundred kilometers.

Then—

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

The tracker, which had produced no results for so long, suddenly emitted a clear notification tone!

Liam was startled and immediately looked down at the device.

There, at the very edge of the search radius, a flashing red dot was blinking continuously.

"Finally! I've found you!"

Liam's eyes narrowed as he stared at the red marker.

Without another thought, he turned and sprinted away.

After finally obtaining a reliable lead on Mewtwo, there was no way he would let it slip away. The Speed Shoes on his feet activated at full power as he raced out of town.

The moment he left Nuvema Town, Liam released Garchomp.

With Garchomp's supersonic flying speed, reaching Mewtwo's location should not take long.

About ten minutes later—

"GRAAAAH!!"

Carrying Liam on its back, Garchomp descended like a whirlwind onto the outskirts of a city, landing beside a forest.

"Damn it! It moved out of range again!"

Liam's expression darkened as he looked at the tracker. The red dot had vanished once more, leaving behind only a directional arrow.

For a moment, he was tempted to smash the device.

"Ah, forget it. Garchomp, you're tired too. There's a city ahead. Let's go rest for a while."

Feeling somewhat irritated, Liam shook his head and patted Garchomp affectionately before recalling it into its PokeBall.

Just as he turned toward the city—

A voice suddenly sounded from behind him.

"Big brother, you and that Pokémon seem really close. I can tell that the bond between you is exceptionally deep."

Liam immediately spun around in alarm.

But there was nothing there.

The same lush green forest stretched before him, with not a single person in sight.

Gulp.

Unable to stop his imagination from running wild, Liam swallowed hard.

"Hm? Big brother? What are you looking at? I'm over here."

Just as Liam began to feel a chill creep up his spine, the voice spoke again, this time from a bush directly in front of him.

Liam quickly lowered his gaze toward the source of the voice.

Then he saw—

A small, skinny boy with green hair hiding among the bushes. Only his little head was visible as he stared at Liam without blinking.
