Crack—!
With the sound of ice shattering, Liam turned his head and saw that the tall ice wall behind him had been smashed open by Dewgong, leaving a large hole. Lorelei, now already changed into a diving suit, walked toward him while tying up her long hair.
Under the moonlight, her figure was fully outlined—strikingly eye-catching.
Liam only glanced once before turning away, sighing inwardly. The once "modest" Lorelei had… clearly become more and more—
"...Sigh."
Before even starting the mission, Liam already felt a bit tired.
"What's wrong? Why are you sighing?"
After tying up her hair, Lorelei walked over and asked curiously.
"Heh, nothing. Do some warm-up exercises first. Even though the temperature has risen, the deeper we go, the colder it gets. Better to be careful."
Liam smiled and shook his head, reminding her.
"I know, I know. I grew up on Ice Island—do you really think I don't know something like that? Stop worrying so much."
Lorelei rolled her eyes at him before stepping aside and performing proper warm-up stretches.
Liam: "..."
A few minutes later, the two prepared to dive. Lorelei hugged her Dewgong and turned to Liam.
"Do you want me to lend you a Pokémon that can dive?"
Liam smiled and shook his head. A PokeBall opened in his hand, and Prinplup slipped into the water in a flash of white light.
"No need. I've got a Water-type now. Let's go."
With that, Liam bit down on his portable oxygen mouthpiece and dove straight into the sea.
"Hmph, suit yourself. Dewgong, let's go too."
"Oooh~"
Lorelei pouted slightly at Liam's refusal, then put on her oxygen mouthpiece and dove in while holding onto Dewgong.
...….
Two people, two Pokémon.
Liam and Lorelei held onto Prinplup and Dewgong respectively as they descended quickly. As they went deeper, the surrounding light dimmed, and the temperature steadily dropped.
Fortunately, this was still nearshore. After only a few minutes, they reached the entrance to Team Aqua's headquarters cave.
Liam gestured to Lorelei, then entered first with Prinplup. Lorelei and Dewgong followed closely behind.
The tunnel was wide, with clear signs of artificial excavation. Such a broad passageway suggested that Team Aqua had a specific purpose in mind.
After swimming for a while, Liam noticed light shining from ahead—the exit.
Carefully entering what appeared to be a man-made harbor, Liam checked the surroundings. There was no one there.
He turned to Lorelei and gestured upward. Then he climbed up a metal ladder and stepped onto land.
"Phew… no one here. Looks like we successfully infiltrated. But we still need to be careful. Over the past few days, I haven't seen any of Team Aqua entering or leaving. Either there's another exit, or they're up to something. Stay alert. Come out—Zorua! Electabuzz!"
"Chi chi chi~"
"Buzz!"
After confirming the coast was clear, Liam still didn't lower his guard. He turned to warn Lorelei, then released his Pokémon.
Lorelei: "..."
Having just come ashore, Lorelei twitched slightly after hearing him. Then, with a helpless expression, she pointed toward a surveillance camera mounted on the wall nearby.
Liam: "..."
"Prinplup—Bubble Beam."
"Prinplup!"
Boom—!
Wooo—! Wooo—! Wooo—!
The camera was destroyed instantly—but red alarms began blaring throughout the walls.
Liam, now full of black lines, stared at the flashing alarms and then at Lorelei, who was clearly holding back laughter. For a moment, he seriously considered jumping back into the sea.
Tap tap tap tap—
With the alarm sounding, chaotic footsteps echoed from the corridor ahead, rapidly approaching.
"Hehe~ looks like we've been discovered. So, what now?"
Lorelei forced herself not to laugh and asked.
"Hmph. What else? We fight our way through!!"
Liam frowned slightly. A PokeBall slid into his hand as he stared at the corridor, his tone turning dangerous.
"Alright! Then we'll fight our way through! Come out—Vulpix! Jynx!"
Lorelei's eyes flashed with excitement as she threw two PokeBalls. Her Alolan Vulpix and Jynx appeared beside Dewgong in flashes of white light.
"Ah!! Who are you people?! How dare you infiltrate Team Aqua's base!"
"That's right! Surrender now, or you'll regret it!"
"Go—Mightyena!"
"Go—Volbeat!"
"Go—Golbat!"
"Go—Muk!"
In an instant, a large number of Team Aqua members poured out of the corridor. Seeing Liam and Lorelei already had their Pokémon out, they didn't waste any time—over a dozen of them released their own Pokémon immediately.
"Hmph! A bunch of cannon fodder! Not even a single Water-type Pokémon—and you call yourselves Team Aqua? Electabuzz!"
"Buzz!"
"Thunderbolt!"
"Zorua! Shadow Ball!"
"Chi chi chi!!"
"Prinplup! Water Pledge!!"
"Prinplup!!"
In just a single exchange—
A massive golden bolt of lightning and a dark Shadow Ball slammed straight into the opposing Pokémon. With a thunderous explosion, many of Team Aqua's Pokémon were blasted backward, crashing heavily into their own trainers!
Then immediately—
Prinplup stomped the ground, unleashing surging streams of water that shot forward like torrents, sweeping through the remaining Team Aqua members and their Pokémon, washing them all into the harbor waters!
"Hehe, looks like I don't even need to step in~ But still—Vulpix, use Powder Snow on the water!"
"Kyu!!"
Lorelei watched the struggling Team Aqua members in the water and smiled lightly. Then she commanded her Alolan Vulpix to use an Ice-type move—
In an instant, the entire harbor surface froze solid.
All the Team Aqua members and their Pokémon trapped in the water were frozen in place!
Liam: "..."
Looking at the frozen figures scattered across the surface, Liam couldn't help recalling his own past experience with that bone-chilling cold. He shuddered involuntarily.
"Alright, let's move on. Let them cool off here for a while. Don't worry—I trust Vulpix's ice. They won't escape."
Lorelei seemed very pleased with the outcome. Noticing Liam's stiff expression, she smiled confidently.
"..."
Who's worried about them escaping?! I'm worried they'll freeze to death!!
Liam watched her cheerful, almost picnic-like demeanor as she walked ahead, and could only complain silently in his heart.
