The moment he entered the forest arena, Scizor sensed that something was wrong. Its sharp eyes swept the surroundings vigilantly.
Most of the trees around them were draped in white spider silk. Threads crisscrossed between the treetops, forming a gigantic web that enveloped the entire forest. At the very center of this massive web, Ariados hung upside down, its enormous body suspended effortlessly, eyes filled with mockery as it calmly watched Scizor step onto its battlefield.
"Ariados! Use Pin Missile!"
"Saa!!"
From a commanding height, Ariados held the absolute advantage. At Ginko's shout, it launched its attack without mercy!
Ariados opened its mouth wide, its massive fangs spreading apart as countless Pin Missiles poured down like rain, streaking through the air with long trailing arcs as they shot straight toward Scizor!
"Dodge, Scizor! Run up the tree trunk and use X-Scissor!!"
"Sha!!"
Scizor reacted instantly, springing backward to evade the incoming barrage. The countless Pin Missiles slammed into the ground instead, triggering a chain of explosions that blanketed the forest floor in thick smoke.
"Sha!!"
At that moment, Scizor's cry rang out from within the smoke!
Its entire body erupted with white light as it burst forward, leaping onto a nearby tree. Carefully avoiding the webbing, it sprinted upward along the trunk before launching itself into the air!
Its massive pincers, overflowing with brilliant white light, swung down mercilessly toward Ariados at the center of the web!
"Dodge it, Ariados! Use Agility!"
"Saa!!"
Though Ariados was a Bug/Poison-type Pokemon, it could still learn Psychic- and Ghost-type techniques—Agility being one of them.
Already nimble on its own web, Ariados became even more agile after activating Agility. Its massive body flickered in an instant, cleanly evading Scizor's X-Scissor!
"Sha!!"
But Scizor's forward momentum didn't stop. Its glowing pincers slashed a blazing cross through the canopy, tearing a massive hole through the web before it shot straight through!
"Sha!"
Scizor landed atop another treetop and turned sharply, locking its gaze onto Ariados, which had already begun repairing the damaged web.
"Scizor! Flash Cannon!"
"Sha!!"
At Liam's shout, pure metallic light rapidly gathered between Scizor's pincers, compressing into a brilliant white sphere before erupting into a blazing beam that fired downward!
"Ariados! Use Night Shade!"
"Saa!!"
Ginko responded instantly. Ariados thrust its head through the web, firing two sinister, shadowy beams from its eyes—like black lightning—colliding precisely with the Flash Cannon!
BOOM!!
The collision triggered a violent explosion. Thick black smoke spread rapidly, rolling like storm clouds and engulfing the forest.
"Scizor! X-Scissor!!"
"Sha!!"
Just as everyone's vision was obscured by the smoke, Liam's command rang out!
A streak of golden light suddenly cut through the dark cloud!
Scizor burst downward from the smoke, its pincers crossed tightly before its chest. Wrapped in intense green light, it shredded every strand of web beneath it before snapping its pincers shut around Ariados's body—dragging it straight down!
THUD!
Both Pokemon slammed into the ground with a heavy crash, the forest floor trembling from the impact.
Ariados struggled violently and tore free, retreating to create distance. Its eyes locked onto Scizor as it hissed continuously.
"Scizor! Now—use X-Scissor!"
Without the aerial advantage or web support, this was Scizor's moment!
"Sha!!"
White light surged once more as Scizor charged forward!
"Ariados! Sonic Boom!"
"Saa!!"
The instant Scizor moved, Sonic Boom erupted!
A visible shockwave blasted across the battlefield, trees shaking violently under the overwhelming sound pressure!
"Sha!!"
Scizor was hit head-on. The white glow around its pincers shattered as it crossed its arms over its head, gritting its teeth to endure the attack.
"Scizor! Don't tank it! Fall back—hide behind a tree!"
Liam frowned deeply and shouted urgently.
"Sha!"
Hearing Liam's voice through the roar, Scizor glanced back, nodded sharply, and retreated at full speed!
"Don't let it escape! Ariados—Shadow Sneak!"
"Saa!!"
The moment Scizor tried to withdraw, Ariados roared. Its massive shadow surged forward like a tidal wave, moving so fast Scizor couldn't react!
In an instant, the shadow coiled tightly around Scizor's body!
"Now's your chance! Ariados—Bounce!!"
"Saa!!"
With Scizor momentarily restrained, Ginko seized the opening!
Ariados halted its Sonic Boom and launched itself skyward before crashing down with terrifying force!
"Scizor!! X-Scissor!!"
"Sha!!"
With no way to dodge, Liam issued the command. Scizor's eyes sharpened as its pincers blazed once more, striking head-on!
CRASH!!
Scizor's pincers slashed cleanly across Ariados's body—but at the same time, Ariados's full weight smashed into Scizor!
Both Pokemon were driven straight into the ground, disappearing into a crater. The sheer power of the collision was unmistakable.
"Saa…"
"Sha…"
When the dust settled, both Ariados and Scizor lay motionless in the crater, eyes spinning.
"Ariados and Scizor are both unable to battle! This match is a draw!"
The announcer shouted excitedly after confirming their condition.
"Return, Ariados. You did well—rest now."
Ginko recalled Ariados first. Liam followed suit, returning Scizor to its PokeBall.
"A draw in the end… Liam, you're truly impressive. Ariados is my strongest Pokemon, yet Scizor clearly isn't yours. The younger generation is truly formidable. Alright, alright—my job here is done. I'll be going now. That girl waiting in the back is probably getting impatient. The future belongs to you youngsters."
With a sigh of reflection, Ginko turned and strode toward the exit tunnel.
And just as he reached the entrance—
A tall, slender figure was already stepping out toward the arena.
