Chapter 56 - Repo

Returning home, Finn is greeted at the door by Davina, who gasps upon seeing Sage's condition.

"Oh no! Is, she dead?" asked Davina sadly, eyes misting over.

"She'll be fine. I can feel the ring working," said Finn, putting her mind at ease as he carries Sage into the bedroom to set her down.

"Is that her heart?" asked Davina, flabbergasted.

"Yeah, not sure what to do with it," said Finn, glancing down at it.

"Shouldn't you stick it back in?" asked Davina quizzically.

"I don't think so. Looks like she's already starting to heal without it," said Finn, checking the wound.

Looking down at Sage's near-death-like state, Davina grits her teeth, "I'm going to kill him."

"Who? Marcel?" asked Finn.

"Yes! Him! And all his vampire friends!" Davina seethed.

Marcel wasn't having a good day, so he decided to go to Rousseau's and see Cami to cheer himself up.

However, to his dismay, she wasn't there as a new guy he'd never seen before served drinks.

"Hey, can I get a beer?" asked Marcel.

"Sure thing," said the bartender, getting him his drink.

"Haven't seen you before. Where's Cami?" asked Marcel.

"Cami? Do you mean Camille?" asked the bartender.

"Yeah…" said Marcel, feeling something off. "She still works here, doesn't she?"

A silence descended as other patrons overheard their conversation.

Marcel looked around with a questioning gaze.

"I hate to be the one to tell you this, but she was in that recent casino collapse. She didn't make it," said a friendly customer.

"What? No, that can't be true… Are you talking about that explosion?" asked Marcel, his head spinning, his stomach clenching..

"I'm sorry," was all they managed to utter as he made his way out of the bar, rubbing his face in frustration and despair, attempting to wipe this day from his memory. He found it hard to believe. How did it all go astray?

He felt a burst of anger thinking this had to be the work of Klaus; this was his fault, he had to be the one… Wait, there was another as he recalled what Katherine said to him, something about the hunters. It had to be her; Klaus would never use explosives.

Gritting his teeth, he immediately left for home to gather the troops and hunt her down, then his phone rang.

"This better be good!" said Marcel heatedly.

"It's me. I want back," said Davina somberly.

"Davina! No problem, you're always welcome here. Do you need me to pick you up?" asked Marcel excitedly, latching onto that fleeting hope he thought was all but gone.

"That's okay, I know where you live, but this time has to be different," said Davina seriously.

"Of course, just name it and I'll see it gets done," said Marcel sincerely.

"I want to meet everyone outside when I get there, no more secrets," said Davina.

"Sure, no problem," Marcel agreed eagerly. Desperate for a win, to get back something he's lost.

"Good, I'll see you soon," said Davina, ending the call.

Back home, Marcel decides to gather the men outside and greet her like some big welcoming home party.

"Are you sure about this? How do we know she isn't bringing Finn with her to wipe us all out?" asked Diego, concerned.

"Relax, Finn doesn't care about us. If he did, we'd already be dead," said Marcel, brushing away his worries.

"Did you or did you not just participate in setting up an ambush to kill his wife?" asked Diego with a deadpanned face.

"Oh yeah… But Davina would never let him kill us. She even stopped him from trying to kill me when I went there, so worry not, everything will be fine," said Marcel, blissfully unaware of the storm that was approaching.

Davina put on her best smile as she exited the vehicle, waving at Marcel, who ran up to say hi with a great big smile.

"Welcome to our new home. I'm glad you're here. Things will be different this time, you'll see. Let me introduce you to everyone," said Marcel happily.

Feeling a pang of guilt, Davina recalled his actions toward Sage and reaffirmed her decision as she resolutely followed him.

"Is this everyone?" she asked, shading her eyes as she briefly looked up at the sun.

"Well, everyone who has rings, so what do you think?" asked Marcel.

"I think... You should all die!" said Davina fiercely, and locked them all down with her magic and began to chant.

"Davina! What are you doing?" asked Marcel in disbelief.

"Ending this," said Davina, releasing her specially crafted spell.

Destroying all their rings at once, all except Marcel's, whose ring she didn't create.

"No, no, no, Davina, stop it, please," Marcel begged as his army burned, their screams echoing in his ears.

When the last one turned to ash, he dropped to his knees, devastated.

"Why?" was all he could ask.

"You know why," said Davina angrily.

"Then why not me?" asked Marcel, giving her a pitiful look.

"Because, I could still use you," said Finn, appearing before him and lifting him by the neck.

"Use me?" questioned Marcel through clenched teeth, holding Finn's arm as his legs dangled.

"That ring, I know what that means. Have to say I'm shocked that Klaus would ever adopt someone," said Finn, catching another glimpse of it.

Marcel snorted through his grip, "I don't know what you hope to accomplish, but we both know Klaus doesn't care about anyone."

"No, but he does care about what he believes is his by right," said Finn.

Marcel went for a kick, which was easily blocked by Finn, who snapped his neck for the effort.

"Are you sure you're okay with this?" Finn asked Davina.

"Yeah, if he was willing to do that to Sage, I shudder to think what he's done to others. I should never have helped him," said Davina sadly.

"Eh, it can happen to the best of us. He saved you're life, it's not your fault he took advantage of that feeling to lie and use you," said Finn, trying to comfort her.

"I guess," said Davina softly.
