Ethan had kept those men alive for a reason.
He had quickly realized that Eli was practically useless. The kid was clearly making his first trip outside the nest, and although he had claimed they were in the capital to resupply, Ethan couldn't imagine what someone with such bullheaded ignorance and absolutely no street sense could possibly accomplish in the Border Kingdom's capital.
These wagoners, on the other hand, were old hands at this sort of thing. Putting them to work would save Ethan a mountain of unnecessary trouble.
Ethan was new to this world as well, and he didn't have a single coin of local currency to his name, which meant he needed to find a way to get his hands on some. Those siblings had hauled in a boatload of Blue-Gold Spirit Fish earlier, and according to them, the fish were incredibly valuable. Ethan wasn't worried about someone trying to rob them, but finding a buyer wealthy enough to take such a large shipment was another matter entirely.
