Chapter 119 - Chapter 119 – The Two Churches

Third-person POV

In Cinjutun, Pantano, Josiah II's eldest son, Joseph Fradellio, was talking to a middle-aged man in a priestly attire with the colours of purple, yellow, and blue. Joseph, a 21-year-old First Prince, was a Hybrid Forest Vamzom. His biological Vamzom mother, a soldier, had died in the hands of the Light Rays Church when he was a baby, and his father had been taking good care of him within the comforts of the royal palace that resembled the Palace of Versailles but with Venetian Gothic arches and Byzantine domes. Because of his mixed bloodline, the dark green-haired prince had to wear a specially-enchanted necklace that keeps his Vamzom powers at bay (though by now, he had mastered control over it). For some context, the Reformed Light Church is the primary church of Pantano and Falleta, and a schismatic split from the Light Rays Church of Vatrene. Instead of a centralized leadership over the churches across different countries, the RLC had archbishops on the national level:

Current Archbishop of Pantano - Frederico Imre (the one Joseph was talking to right now for spiritual guidance)

Current Archbishop of Falleta - Aneròt Okada

The Synod of Dacuinia (an autonomous synod of a few bishops under the Archbishopric of Falleta because the members in the Grey wolf nation were scarce)

The bishops are under the archbishops, and they had synods with them. The priests and presbyters are under the bishops. The church split from the Light Rays Church 250 years ago because the former wanted to be tolerant and sympathize with the Vamzoms, and to adapt to the moderate secularization of Pantano and Falleta. The RLC was the one who made the bracelets and amulets for Hybrid Vamzoms to conceal and control their Vamzom powers.

The differences between the two fantasy churches are striking. The RLC was diverse in liturgy by region and culture (like in Falleta, churches incorporated worship practices from Shintoist and Japanese Buddhist styles), while the LRC was conservative and uniform in liturgy. The clergy in the RLC were more moderate on life outside of their monastic homes, while the LRC was strict. (like when RLC priests in Falleta were reading fanfic manga in their free time or engaging with people outside of their monasteries). The soldiers of the RLC were pious yet more welcoming to everyone, while the ones in the LRC remained strict and pious.

Now, this golden afternoon, Joseph seeks advice from Frederico Imre while the afternoon in Ishidzu is ongoing.
