Mia ran out of the property.
She no longer even understood what she was feeling.
Anger?
Sadness?
Disappointment?
Everything was mixed together.
"Mia!"
A voice behind her made her stop.
She turned around.
"This isn't how you solve things."
Mia recognized Fran immediately.
He was standing a few meters away.
Mia didn't answer.
She ran to him and threw herself into his arms.
Her sobs broke free.
Fran remained surprised for a second before gently wrapping his arms around her.
He slowly stroked her back.
"Easy…"
"She accused me for no reason…"
Her voice was muffled against his shoulder.
"And Cid believed her…"
Fran stayed silent.
Then he asked softly:
"And why does it hurt you so much that he believes her?"
Mia lifted her head slightly.
Fran looked at her.
"Do you love him?"
Mia slowly pulled away.
She remained silent.
Impossible to answer.
After a few seconds, she lowered her eyes.
"That's not the problem…"
"Then what is it?"
"I thought he knew me well enough to believe me."
Her voice broke.
"I thought he knew I would never do something like that."
She wiped her tears.
"But I was wrong."
Fran felt a pang of sadness seeing her like this.
He gently took her back into his arms.
"Don't let one single evening make you believe you're worthless."
Mia closed her eyes.
"I'm tired."
"Then come."
She looked at him.
"Where?"
"Somewhere you can forget this evening for a few hours."
Mia hesitated.
Then a small smile appeared despite her tears.
"Okay."
They headed toward the car.
A few moments later, Fran opened the door.
Mia got in.
He walked around the vehicle.
But at the same moment, another person arrived — Cid.
He had finally decided to go after Mia.
But he stopped short.
He only saw, from behind, a young man about his age with long black hair getting into a car with Mia.
The car started.
Cid stood frozen.
His eyes followed the taillights until they disappeared.
He slowly clenched his fist.
A strange anger rose in him.
