Chapter 685 - Chapter 685: The Development of Phasmophobia

The company had never developed a horror game before. In fact, among all the games they had made so far, not a single one contained horror elements.

Because of that, the development of Phasmophobia had become one of the company's highest priority projects.

As long as the game was made well, and future updates and maintenance were handled properly, it would likely be able to maintain its popularity for a very long time.

When Ichin arrived at the development team's area, he saw Umiko sitting in front of a computer, wearing headphones and continuously speaking into a microphone. On the screen was not the game itself, but rather a simple voice recognition test program.

"Hello, hello, where are you?"

The moment she finished speaking, the exact sentence appeared on the screen.

Walking over, Ichin quietly stood beside Ruri Gokou and whispered, "How's the voice system development going right now?"

Ruri replied softly, "At the moment, standard Japanese works fine, and Mandarin Chinese can mostly be recognized as well. But you know how it is, Ichin-kun. Both Japanese and Chinese have a lot of dialect differences, and that part is difficult to handle. We're currently considering whether we should add dialect support."

"Dialects, huh... if we add that, development costs are definitely going to increase a lot."

Ichin rubbed his chin thoughtfully. This was something he had already considered before.

And it was not just Japanese and Chinese either. Even English had clear differences between British English, American English, Chinese-accented English, Japanese-accented English, and so on.

Not to mention the truly terrifying Indian English.

After thinking for a moment, Ichin patted Umiko on the shoulder just as she was preparing to test Okinawan dialect.

"Umiko, hold off on those for now. Let's first properly finish support for standard languages. Japanese, Chinese, English, French, and German should be enough for now. As for other languages and dialect support, we can work on those later once the game is mostly complete."

Taking off her headphones, Umiko helplessly said, "Do we really have to? I was actually enjoying the challenge."

Seeing her expression, Ichin could not help laughing.

"Don't worry. Once development is mostly finished, I'll still leave this part to you, alright?"

Only then did Umiko nod in satisfaction.

"Alright then. I'll continue working on standard language support for now. Oh right, even though my Chinese is decent enough, Ichin, you should come help me test the Chinese side too. Or maybe bring over a few of the Chinese employees from the company?"

"I'll handle it myself. It's only testing anyway, and the others aren't part of this project."

At the Tokyo branch, Ichin had also recruited quite a few fellow Chinese employees. Most of them were international students studying in Japan who had joined the company after graduating and interviewing there. Their abilities were all quite impressive.

With Ichin being a fellow Chinese boss, combined with the company's excellent benefits, they all worked very happily, and every single one of them had improved noticeably after joining the company.

"Alright then, I'll leave it to you. I'll call you over once we need testing."

After watching the progress of the in-game modeling for a while, Ichin returned to the Bloodborne development team and began handling the tasks that originally belonged to Umiko.

Fortunately, Umiko's work efficiency was extremely high, so there was not too much unfinished work left behind at this stage. It would not take up too much of Ichin's time.

At noon, while eating in the cafeteria, Ichin noticed his phone light up.

Picking it up, he discovered both an email and a message from the wedding photography team.

All of the wedding photos had finished editing, the albums had already been produced, and the package had been shipped to Japan. At the same time, the digital version had also been sent over.

Eriri, sitting beside him, leaned over for a look and immediately understood.

"Ooh~~ the wedding photos are done already? Hurry and open them!"

"It's too slow to open them on a phone. The file sizes for each photo are huge. Just wait until the albums arrive and come look at them then."

"Ah, true."

Eriri nodded in understanding. Professional cameras were used during wedding shoots, so the photo sizes were obviously massive. Plus, looking at them on a phone screen would be annoying anyway.

Seeing that the others still had not fully given up, Ichin smiled and said, "Stop dreaming. Utaha and I haven't even looked at them ourselves yet. You think I'd let you all see them first?"

"Ehhh~~~ stingy."

Ichin completely ignored everyone calling him stingy. No matter what, there was absolutely no way he would let them see the photos before Utaha did.

So after lunch, once he returned to the office, Ichin immediately called Utaha, who was currently working from home writing.

He told her that the wedding photos had already been shipped out.

"Huh?! They shipped them already? That means we'll have them in just a few days?!"

Utaha, who had been typing away in the studio, instantly jumped up excitedly after hearing Ichin's words, startling the quietly reading Yukino beside her.

"Yep. They've already been shipped. And not just yours. Yukino's wedding photos are done too. Hers should arrive tomorrow first."

Yukino's wedding photos had been handled by a Tokyo-based photography team, so delivery would naturally be faster.

At this moment, Yukino had also been dragged over by Utaha. After hearing the news, she too revealed a look of anticipation.

After chatting briefly and agreeing to first look through the digital versions together after getting home from work, Ichin hung up and returned to work.

Meanwhile, after putting down her phone, Utaha happily linked arms with Yukino.

"Yukino, we'll finally get them soon!"

Yukino smiled and nodded.

"Yeah. We've been waiting for a long time."

"Hehe, since we're in such a good mood, let's order milk tea! And cake too!"

Yukino was in an excellent mood as well, so concerns about sugar intake were temporarily forgotten. The two immediately started browsing milk tea and cake options together.

Half an hour later, Ichin, who was still working, received a photo from Utaha.

In the picture, Utaha and Yukino were happily drinking milk tea and eating cake together.

Looking at the smiles on their faces, Ichin could not help smiling as well.

"They really are happy."

That evening, Ichin got off work on time and returned home.

After parking the car and opening the front door, he immediately saw Yukino walking out carrying a plate of cola chicken wings.

"Ah, you're back. Dinner will be ready soon."

Ichin nodded. After putting his things down, he walked over, wrapped Yukino in his arms, and kissed her firmly.

Caught off guard by the sudden attack, Yukino blushed slightly and glared at him.

"You smell like cooking oil smoke."

"Not at all. To me, it smells like home."

After kissing Yukino's forehead once more, Ichin finally let her go and held her hand as the two walked into the kitchen together.

Inside the kitchen, Utaha was stir-frying vegetables. Seeing Ichin walk in while holding hands with the slightly red-faced Yukino, she smiled.

"So Yukino got teased again?"
