The massive geothermal pit emitted heat waves rising like the rhythmic breathing of an ancient Titan. The dull sound of metal rubbing was reminiscent of some ancient low hum. The temperature conveyed from underground made the entire space feel like it was in an oven. Both the ground and the guardrail grilles were scorching hot. Working in such a place required wearing high-temperature protective Power Armor.
