Chapter 359 - 359: Tinkers' Construct Mod

[There will still be magical modifications, everyone! And the scale of the changes won't be small. If previous things like New Magic Arts or Thaumcraft could be considered small creative tweaks to the mods, then this time it can be called a full-on reverse optimization!]

[Quiet note: I haven't played Tinkers' Construct for about three months now because of heavy studies, so please bear with me and don't nitpick too much.]

Kasen raised an eyebrow and apologized to Sirius, Lupin, and the others at the table. "Excuse me, something came up."

After getting up, he followed the three of them upstairs.

"So… what exactly did you make for me?" Kasen asked curiously.

"In theory, Professor… I don't think this is very useful for you, but it's very useful for us. We're basically here to show it off and get praised," Cedric said.

"Then let's take a look." Kasen grew even more curious. Soon, they reached the 2nd floor and saw what the three young wizards had built inside an abandoned storage room..

A massive… smeltery?

Kasen felt the terrifying heat radiating from it and lightly touched it with his hand.

[Touched Tinkers' Construct Smeltery. Tinkers' Construct mod successfully unlocked!]

A system notification that hadn't sounded in who knows how long suddenly came back to life, making Kasen quickly pull his hand away before it could blister.

At that moment, Cedric stepped forward and began explaining, "Since we don't have your ability to freely reshape metal, we thought maybe we could do it like Muggle smelters—melt the metal first, then pour it into specific molds, and once it cools and solidifies, it becomes a finished product."

Kasen nodded. "Mm… that's how Tinkers' Construct works."

Cedric looked a bit surprised. "What's Tinkers' Construct?"

Kasen quickly caught himself. What he had just muttered meant that this was indeed how Tinkers' Construct was used—it allowed Minecraft's blocky characters to craft powerful tools and weapons in a more immersive, craftsman-like way.

And Tinkers' Construct…

How had he not thought of it before? Just like Cedric said, it could melt metal into liquid and pour it into molds to directly form finished products. That way, he wouldn't have to painstakingly assemble Netherite piece by piece anymore.

What a wonderful thing!

Thinking of this, he looked at the large and rather crude smeltery in front of him. "I might be able to upgrade this for you. Want me to? Of course, if you'd rather keep this one as it is, that's fine too."

"We're good either way. The two of us didn't really put in much effort anyway," the Weasley twins said first.

Cedric shrugged as well. "It's not like it's some kind of keepsake. No problem tearing it down."

Kasen nodded. First, he waved his hand to clear out all the molten metal inside the smeltery, then tossed in a large pile of raw stone.

This was the essential material for constructing a Tinkers' Construct smeltery.

Next, he installed a large number of smeltery drains and casting basins beneath the furnace.

Soon, after the stone inside the smeltery melted into liquid, it was directed into the molds and finally formed into seared stone.

Once he had the seared stone, Kasen waved his hand. The massive smeltery in front of him—from its structure to the molten contents, even the fuel—was completely destroyed, leaving not even a trace behind.

Then, using the seared bricks in his hand, Kasen rebuilt a more refined smeltery. After adding a controller, fuel tank, drain, and casting table, the job was complete.

"Now you can try it again," Kasen said, hands on his hips, looking rather smug.

"Uh… Professor, how do we use this?" Cedric asked, completely at a loss.

Seeing this, Kasen walked over and placed his hand on the fuel tank. Instantly, a surge of lava filled the container before them.

Then he tapped the controller, and a large drawer immediately popped out.

"Just put whatever you want to smelt in here, then push it back in."

Cedric and the Weasley twins looked at each other, wide-eyed. Clearly, none of them had anything to smelt.

"Then I'll do it." Kasen waved his hand and tossed a large pile of gold ingots into the drawer.

While waiting for the gold ingots to melt into liquid gold, he used wood to shape an entirely new frame along with ten symmetrical mechanical arms to match.

"Cedric, take these apart, label each piece, and store them properly," Kasen said as he handed the frame over.

"OK." Cedric quickly agreed.

"Then what about us, Professor?" the Weasley twins asked.

"You two…" Kasen looked at them. Making them just stand there and watch didn't seem very appropriate…

So he reached into his pocket and pulled out two lollipops. "One each. Go downstairs and play Dungeons & Dragons with Sirius and the others."

They had happily dragged Professor Kasen upstairs together with Cedric, and now Cedric and the professor were staying in the room having fun while the two of them were being sent back down…

Why did this feel so strange…

Like introducing your girlfriend to your blond buddy, and then…

Getting cuckolded!

The two of them sighed helplessly, each with a lollipop in their mouth, and sat back down at the Dungeons & Dragons table.

"…"

"…"

In the end, because they played so terribly, the twins had no choice but to head back upstairs, thinking they'd take another look—

Only to see molten gold, gleaming brilliantly, pouring out from the casting spout and splashing straight onto the wooden pieces.

In the end, all the wooden components were completely burned away by the scorching gold, just like that, turning neatly into molds.

"Professor…"

"You…"

"Using gold…"

"To make molds?!"

The Weasley twins stared at the scene in complete disbelief, tears of anguish welling up at the corners of their eyes.
